During the celebration of the 10-year anniversary, the developers teased huge plans for the future of Destiny 2. Well, according to the latest blog post, the devs weren’t just joking around. Get ready, as the upcoming Episode will feature a new Dungeon and one popular Mode will finally debut in Destiny 2.
The New Episode Will Bring a Dungeon and a Mode
On September 12, the developers shared a new blog post in which they looked into the future of the game. Of course, one of the focal points was the upcoming Episode – Revenant. While trying not to reveal too much, the devs did give players something to look forward to. Contest Mode will come with the new Dungeon on October 11!
They noted: “In just little under a month, on October 8, Episode: Revenant will launch. We have tons of new details to share with you before that time, but today we wanted to focus on just one bit: the new dungeon. Launching on Friday, October 11 at 10:00 AM PT the new dungeon will feature a Contest Mode for the first time ever. So, gather your favorite fireteam, save the date, and we’ll have more details for you in the weeks ahead”.
Destiny 2 Players Can’t Wait for the Contest Mode
The community was elated by the news of a new Dungeon, and especially the Contest Mode finally coming to Destiny 2. The players gladly exchanged their expectations and wishes for the new Mode.
One player, totallyhaywire253, noted: “I’d love if just for Contest Mode, they capped the number of phases. One of the hardest elements of Contest raiding is having to play with a hard spec DPS loadout but still succeed at the mech phases. With infinite phases in a standard dungeon, you could just run a mostly neutral game loadout”.
Another player, Caerullean, hoped: “Guaranteed exotic drop on clear would be nice, and kinda to be expected since that’s what they’ve been doing for raids for a while. Other than that I guess I’m expecting an emblem as well. Dungeons are usually very easy to clear on day one, so it’ll be nice for them to take a bit more effort for once”.
It seems that Destiny 2 is nowhere near dying, one unsatisfying patch doesn’t mean anything in the long run. The players seem to be more hyped than ever, and honestly, so are we. Those 48 hours of the Contest Mode will be wild.
