Over the last couple of weeks, the devs celebrated the 10th anniversary of Destiny and shared a lot of new information about the next era of the game. Most recently, the Destiny 2 developers shared some details concerning the future of raids and Dungeons.
What Will Happen to Dungeons and Raids?
On September 25, the developers shared a lengthy blog post in which they discussed their future plans. They shared what exactly the fans should expect from each upcoming expansion for years to come.
The devs noted: “Every year will kick off with a brand new raid, as part of the first Expansion. The following Major Update will then expand on this raid. The second Expansion each year will deliver a new dungeon, with an expanded reward offering. The fourth and final Major Update of the year will launch an Event that leverages legacy raid and dungeon content along the lines of The Pantheon”.
When talking about new Raids, the devs confirmed: “Raids will continue to offer a complete pool of exclusive weapons, armor, and Exotics, and these can be obtained at higher tiers by taking on additional challenges”. They also noted that they wouldn’t disclose more details, as they didn’t want to ruin the players’ experience.
They revealed: “Starting with Codename: Apollo, new raids will support a raid-specific form of Challenge Customization, where players can select modifiers called Feats. Feats will expose and enforce rules, such as Time Trials, Contest Combatants, or other mode-modifiers unique to the raid. The more Feats active during a run, the better the chance to earn higher tiered rewards”.
While talking about Dungeons, the devs revealed that starting with Codename: Behemoth, there will be no more separate Dungeon Keys. Also, the reward offering for new Dungeons will be expanded to include full weapon and armor sets.
Finally, they noted: “While raid content will not initially be part of the Portal categories, we are exploring ways to incorporate it in a future release. Until then, new and legacy raid content will continue to be available in their current locations”.
Destiny 2 Players Like the Plans for the Future
Even though some players were a tad salty about these changes, the majority of Destiny 2 fans were quite pleased with the future of Dungeons and raids. AlphaSSB noted: “Honestly? I am okay with this. I’ve been loving the schedule they’re setting. It’s actually something I’ve kinda been speaking for a while now”.
AppropriateLaw5713 added: “But from the sounds of it the raids will be bigger and expanded on after their release with more loot and potentially new encounters. And Dungeons are getting expanded to have full loot pools equivalent to a raid and no longer tied to the Dungeon keys. We basically get a new Pantheon at the end of every year”.
We have to admit, these are some major changes. If the devs implement them well, the future of Destiny 2 will be amazing. How do you feel about these changes? Will they make the game better?
