By now, the players are used to getting small weekly updates on what the devs are working on. However, the developers shared a huge announcement on October 14. The team behind Destiny 2 revealed that a new mobile game is in the works – Destiny: Rising.

What is Destiny Rising and When Will it Be Available?

A post on the official X page for Destiny: Rising revealed more details. The statement read: “Destiny: Rising™, a brand new Mobile Epic Sci-Fi RPG Shooter. Carry the Light in a bygone age. Bring hope in a time before Guardians. Save humanity and rise to the challenge. Pre-register NOW for the #DestinyRising Closed Alpha in November”.

The Closed Alpha starts on November 1, and you can pre-register here. The official trailer offered a first look at the game, as well as some more interesting details. This mobile game is being made by NetEase Games in cooperation with Bungie.

The first reactions were overwhelmingly positive. TheBlackLink noted: “Honestly looks pretty good, can’t wait to see more of the gameplay. I got a phone, and I can’t even lie, playing Destiny anywhere it appeals to me”.

As players praised the overall design, many were dazzled by character design as well. Reportedly, the Classes haven’t been established yet in this new universe, however, the players couldn’t help but notice that one of the characters was incredibly Warlock-coded.

Jaqulean explained: “Well outside of the fact, that this Mobile Game is going to be set in an Alternate Universe (not our main timeline), the Classes had to evolve from something. So, it’s not that far-fetched for certain design elements to already be present”.

Destiny Players Have Concerns About the Mobile Game Developer

However exciting the announcement of the mobile game was, many Destiny 2 players showed concern over its developer – NetEase Games. Many players recalled that the same company made a ridiculous amount of money on Diablo: Immortal, which made them question the company’s plans for Destiny: Rising.

Seven_Lux noted: “As much as I hate to be pessimistic, NetEase is most well known for producing Immortal, which despite being predatory towards players, made a ridiculous amount of money. And we all know who is at the helm of Bungie and his greedy outlook”.

Another player, Samurai_Stewie, shared their expectations. This player stated: “Sweet! I got a new Exotic! Darn, it costs $14.99 to upgrade it to my current light level. I guess I’ll grind 1,000 strikes to earn the materials to upgrade it the free way. I’ll eat my words and play the hell out of this game if this is not how things will be”.

Hopefully, this player will eat their words, as this game looks amazing, and we’d love to enjoy it without having to invest too much in it. Well, we’ll find out soon enough. In the meantime, we suggest you try out the new dungeon, Vesper Station has truly proved to be a challenge. Enjoy the game.
