Every game has its ups and downs, as does every community. Sometimes all the players unite for a common good, but other times they simply can’t find a common ground. In the latter scenario, the heat in the community can rise quite quickly. Recently, a group of doomsayers proclaimed that Destiny 2 was “dying”, but the rest of the community wholeheartedly disagreed.
Some Doomsayers Claim Destiny 2 Is Dying
Every long-running game has “slower” periods, the ones with fewer updates, or less new content. That’s completely normal, as some games exist for years and the devs can’t keep up with the demand. During those periods there is usually an unsatisfied group of players that leave meanspirited comments and insist the game will never recover, mainly because of all the issues.
Apprivers shared their pessimistic opinion. This player stated: “Yeah it’s too late, games dead. Don’t even bother installing. The game is dead bro. Like, don’t even think about it. Game’s crazy dead”.
Tiraloparatras25 explained how players have invested so much time and money in this game only to be disappointed. According to this player: “It’s that after so much goodwill, management( and Sony) keep messing up the perception of gamers to make us either love or hate the game”.
Most of the Players Still Thoroughly Enjoy the Game
While we do understand the concerns doomsayers listed are valid, the majority of the Destiny 2 player base is just enjoying the game without any worries. Bardosaurus stated: “Yeah man idk. Same with announcing that you are gonna stop playing. Like man, it’s not that deep, play when you want, stop when you don’t want to play. It’s as easy as that”.
One player, noCulture_, noted: “I get that it’s not exactly promising given the state of Bungie rn and the game’s first saga is over, but like why does everyone obsess over the game being “dead”? The game is not dead, and to the mass amount of people who still play the game and will stick with it until it really dies, I applaud you. You’re doing something lots of other people can’t do. Have patience and enjoy “.
Lots of players lightheartedly joked about still playing the game even though it was “dead”. Others agreed, saying that they’d gladly be the last ones to leave the game. Hour-Ant6849 added: “We always joke that we will still be playing till the lights go out”.
It’s true that players come and go, but that’s only normal for a game that has existed for this long. If someone gets tired of a game, that doesn’t mean the game is dying. We’d suggest to everyone feeling overwhelmed and tired because of any game to just take a break, return in a month, or two, or after an update. It’s okay to take a break. The Destiny 2 community will gladly welcome back any player.
