Set to release on April 21, many players are still waiting for Dead Island 2 to launch in their time zone. However, the first round of players is already dropping into Hell-A, the zombie-infested Los Angeles in the new action-horror title.
One mission that players are tasked with completing upon entering the post-apocalyptic city is titled O Michael Where Art Thou. To complete the mission, you’ll have to open the gate to the Hills. Although, this is much easier said than done.
In order to open the gate, you’ll first need to find something to unlock it. In this case, you’re looking for a keycard, and you’ll probably find it where you’d least expect.
Here’s where to find the keycard and open the gate to the Hills in Dead Island 2.
How Do You Open the Gate to the Hills in Dead Island 2?
To complete the O Michael Where Art Thou mission, you need to find a keycard to unlock the gate to the Hills. This may sound simple enough, but finding the keycard and unlocking the gate is made exceedingly more difficult by the horde of various zombies awaiting you at the entrance.

To make matters worse, one zombie in particular has the keycard you’ll need to complete the mission. To get the keycard and unlock the gate, follow these guidelines:
- Locate a bigger zombie in the horde, which is called a Checkpoint Guard.
- Kill this zombie and any others that might prevent you from approaching the gate.
- The Checkpoint Guard will drop a keycard when you kill it; pick it up.
- Take the keycard to the gate and unlock it to move forward through the Hills.
Of course, this will require some strategy and heavy-handed combat to accomplish, but once you have the keycard, you can literally run for the hills. Although, completing the mission at launch probably won’t get you caught up with the first players in New Zealand any quicker.
