The long-anticipated two-versus-eight game mode is live in DBD, and it is a breath of fresh air that the game needs. Now you can finally team up with a friend to both play as Killers, or get a bunch of your mates to play as Survivors, and evade those pesky monsters. The game has been simplified a bit, and only a limited roster of Killers is available. You can only pick the “starter” Killers, ie: The Trapper, The Wraith, The Hillbilly, The Nurse, and The Huntress.
The larger map and the slight buffs that Killers got made some of those Killers a nasty choice in this game mode. That, naturally, does not sit well with some players.
The Wraith Gets a Bad Rep In 2v8
Arguably the most-hated Killer in the massive 2v8 game mode is The Wraith. This invisible bing-bong-boy proved even more annoying in the new game mode. Reddit user Overall-Piece1862 started a thread expressing his new-found hatred towards The Wraith. More and more players agree, with statements like: “I have never liked Wraith. The people who play him have one style and it’s annoying AF.” and “I can’t stand him. He’s my most hated killer in the game” are flooding the comment section.
On that note, other Killers also get some flak, with w4spl3g hating on the Huntress: “Huntress is much worse, is in every game, and gets the best use of the constant aura reading. But I didn’t like playing against her before 2v8, she’s just even more insufferable in that game mode.” while luknluk says he’s cool with Huntress and Wraith, but “the hate i’ve gained for [Hill]billy tho? Immeasurable”.
Some Players Think The Wraith May Not Be That Bad
Not everybody hates the Wraith. User RPioneer1 posted: “I actually love going against wraiths, they usually just hit you and then run off somewhere else lol, and if they do end up chasing, they are a good killer to learn how to loop with…I’d also say that 2v8 is not meant to be balanced so I understand that. And I also know that some of these killers in the normal 1v4 game mode are actually very underpowered and the 2v8 really heightens their strengths to make them super strong.
Redditor OAZdevs_alt2 adds: “Wraith is C-tier already. If you remove his speed during cloak, he easily becomes D-tier, among the likes of Trapper, Myers, and Not Freddy. His extra speed is the only thing that allows him to have map pressure..”
Naturally, some players will have trouble with a certain Killer, while others may not. The same goes for Survivors, some Killers basically leave the game when they see a certain Survivor or a Survivor combo. Ultimately, the 2v8 game mode is temporary, so we should enjoy it while it is still here.
