Upgrading your weapons to mow through enemies in Night City is an essential part of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. However, after the 2.0 update, you’re only able to upgrade iconic weapons to enhance their stats even further. So, if you have any iconic weapons in store and want to take them up a notch, here’s how to upgrade your weapons in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
How to Upgrade Weapons in Cyberpunk 2077
To upgrade your weapons in the Phantom Liberty expansion pack, here is what you need to do:
- First, go to your menu and select Crafting.
- In the Crafting menu, choose Upgrades and select an item you want to upgrade from the shown items.
- If you have the necessary crafting components for your chosen item, you can simply click Upgrade to upgrade the item, increasing its power.
Some key things to remember are that you’ll need crafting components equivalent to the weapon rarity. Since Unique or Legendary items can be upgraded now, you must find crafting components of the same rarity in order to upgrade your iconic weapons.
Another thing to look for before hitting the Upgrade button is what the weapon’s new stats will be. This is essential to ensure you don’t waste your crafting components on a weapon that doesn’t benefit you as much. All players should follow this, considering how scarce high-tier crafting components are throughout the game.
- Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City
- Become a cyberpunk, an urban mercenary equipped with cybernetic enhancements and build your legend on the streets of Night City
- Take the riskiest job of your life and go after a prototype implant that is the key to immortality

How to Get Crafting Components
There are multiple ways through which you could score some nice crafting materials. The higher rarity crafting materials are harder to find, hence why we mentioned thinking carefully before upgrading an item.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty rewards its players heavily with crafting components throughout the game. This primarily helps in crafting low-tier weapons in the early game. Other ways include disassembling any unwanted weaponry you’ve scavenged to receive the components from scraping it or the loot dropped on the ground by fallen enemies.
