This game just won’t stop. Games usually have the largest number of players n the release, which gradually falls. But now, 10 days after the release, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 managed to hit a new all-time player peak.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released on April 24 and took the scene by storm. It quickly became the talk of the town, and a very serious candidate for the best game of 2025 (especially now, after the reveal that GTA6 will be released in 2026 after all).
The game is so popular that it even has its own group of haters trying to review bomb it for being a turn-based game. It is no secret that the game is inspired by the Final Fantasy series, which is confirmed by the head honcho himself, Guillaume Broche, when asked how Sandfall Interactive and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 came to be. And the popularity of the game is only getting higher and higher, as it only recently managed to score a new all-time player peak.
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Hits a New All-Time Player Peak on May 4
As mentioned earlier, games tend to have the highest number of players upon release, and that number dwindles over time. But, truly great games get more and more popular, and their player count is continually growing. Such is the situation with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
It had its peak on the first weekend upon release (Saturday, April 27, to be specific) with 121,422 players. During the next workweek, those numbers hovered somewhere below 100k players, with a significant jump on Labour Day, Thursday, May 1. And then, the weekend after Labour Day, the player count reached an all-time peak, with Sunday, May the Fourth, having 145,063 concurrent players. And that is only on Steam, so if we add the PlayStation and Xbox players, those numbers will be even higher.
We presume that it is the combination of the ever-increasing hype for the game, as more and more people break under pressure and check the game out, and the fact that most folks had a mini-holiday, thanks to Labour Day being so close to the weekend, and people had more time for gaming. In any case, we are certain that the player count will rise even higher.
