Even though the game is, well, finished, the devs still plan to release small updates and hotfixes. And they revealed that the Photo Mode is in the works and high on the list of new features planned for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

It is no surprise that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is heavily inspired by JRPGs, like Final Fantasy (with a little bit of Devil May Cry for character animations). It also features some common mechanics from similar games, such as the option to change the appearance of the characters, which can also be shown during the game’s cutscenes. However, there is one popular feature that is strangely lacking in the game, and that is the Photo Mode.

Photo Mode in the Works for Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Along With Other Improvements

Photo Mode allows you to take great in-game shots. Some games allow you to pause the game (and cutscenes) at any time and take some cool action shots, while others allow photo mode only in specific locations (like home base). Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has both beautiful landscapes and awesomely designed characters, so it is no wonder that the fans are asking for this feature to be added in the game. The best part is – the devs think so too!

Recently, there was a live interview between the Final Fantasy Union and Sandfall team (Jennifer Svadberg-Yen, Guillaume Broche, Nicholas Maxson-Francombe, and Lorien Testard). There, the Sandfall team answered a bunch of fan questions. Some go way too deep in spoiler territory, and we will try to keep this article as spoiler-free as possible. Anyway, some fans asked whether we will see some updates to the game, and most importantly, whether the Photo Mode will ever be added.

“Definitely Something That We Would Like To Do”

Guillaume Broche answered that they do plan on releasing updates, but their main focus is bug fixing. “We have a list of things we want to do, but right now, our biggest focus is fixing all the little bugs here and there that we see popping out.” But besides that, they do plan to release small updates that will add new features, like Loadouts, for example.

However, when asked about the Photo Mode, Mr. Broche said: “It is very high on the list of things we want to do. It was requested a lot…it’s a lot more work, but it is definitely something that we would like to do.”

Unfortunately, they gave us no timeframe on when to expect any of this. But making and maintaining a game that made 3.3 million sales is not easy. They can take their time.
