The Choice of Engine for Black Ops 6 Causes Turmoil in the Call of Duty Community

A look at Call of Duty Black Ops 6.

Many CoD players are impatiently waiting for the next installment of Black Ops to drop on October 25. At the time of writing this article, the release date is almost two and a half months away, but the hype over the game is already enormous. Recently, the future players learned more about the choice of engine for Call of Duty Black Ops 6, and the community is somehow already divided.

Some Players Are Appaled by the Controversial Choice of Engine for Black Ops 6

Many players were annoyed by the announcement that Black Ops 6 will be using the MW engine. One player, sankalp_pateriya, took to Reddit to share their annoyance with the choice. They stated: “Is Black Ops 6 really a Treyarch game if they’re forced to use the MW engine and all the BS from the latest games”?

Another player, Lord-Reign, explained what their issue was with the MW engine. They noted: “Ironically, that’s what made Treyarch stand out IMO. Their games felt a lot more vibrant than MW games which just felt grey and dull. Hopefully, BO6 has good colors like BO3 and BO4”.

Call of Duty Players Explain Why the Choice Was Solid

As you probably expected, other Call of Duty players had a completely different perspective on the Black Ops 6 engine. Some claimed that the devs’ choice would only improve the game, rather than destroy it. Also, many community members were simply appalled that the other side was so uneducated.

One player, mcmilliron276, said: “Now people are upset that BO6 is not using the old outdated Treyarch engine!? Lol! I liked Cold War quite a bit but it looked like trash compared to MW, and that’s because it ran on an old engine! Also, using the same engine doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to feel like MW. An engine is a tool and has little to do with art style or feel”.

PleaseRecharge elaborated: “Engine has little to nothing to do with what people think it does. Movement, graphical fidelity, hit points, and damage systems, anything people blame on the engine is completely wrong. In some cases, the different engines will handle graphical fidelity differently, but with engines this close to each other, not nearly as much as people want to think. Engine mostly has to do with bts processing and the way the game itself works”.

Sensitive-Tax2230 contributed: “People are throwing out desperate complaints praying they catch on. They’ll do everything they can to prevent people from purchasing BO6. It’s astonishing to me some of the complaints I’ve seen. Not using an outdated engine, using an improved MW engine, missing a single animation in zombies, having tac sprint, having “ugly visuals”, etc”.

Honestly, we know a game will be great when there is this much heat around it months before the release. It’s up to the devs to put some finishing touches on it and deliver it to the obviously overly excited fans. Hopefully, the players will be blown away.
