One Unrealistic Detail in Black Ops 6 Playthrough Breaks the Immersion for Call of Duty Players

A look at Call of Duty Black Ops 6.

The Open Beta for the latest installation of Call of Duty, Black Ops 6, is set to drop on August 30. At the time of writing this article, the release is in 4 days. Obviously, that means that the devoted players are extremely hyped. They are discussing their expectations for the game and its main character, Case. The Call of Duty Black Ops 6 fans have also been dissecting the Campaign level Playthrough and they’ve noticed one unrealistic detail stood out.

A Detail From Black Ops 6 Mission Playthrough Annoys the Players

You have probably already noticed this detail, as many players reported it broke the immersion for them. The scene in question is the one when you are falling down the elevator shaft. Case manages to grab onto the side, and then effortlessly catches Adler. Neither sustain any injuries.

One player, Impressive-Ad7151, noted: “I have always loved CoD for its over-the-top action. But in real life, wouldn’t his arm have been ripped off or Adler would’ve been dropped heavily”? Another player, RaspberryHappy8358, added: “He is also falling in slow motion. In real life gravity makes you fall much faster”.

Well, if this happened in real life, it’s safe to say that neither would probably survive. As Adler grabs Case’s hand, the pull would at least dislocate Case’s shoulder. Then, they would probably both fall to their deaths. Well, thankfully, these mechanics work in games.

Some Call of Duty Fans Don’t Mind Unrealistic Games

Other Call of Duty Black Ops 6 fans pointed out that this unrealistic detail from the Playthrough was actually quite common in all action genres. Dejected_Cyberpsycho noted: “This can be said for at least one moment in every COD since MW2 (2009)”.

HeMan077 added: “Dude Woods, while on horseback, grabbed Mason with one arm and lifted Mason onto said horse in the Black Ops 2 level Old Wounds. This isn’t anything new”. Another player, PainEnchantment, stated: “This has been happening in action movies for 60+ years”. And it really has.

Drew326 recalled one such moment. They said: “Bruce does this to Ra’s al Ghul in Batman Begins. Still one of the best action movies ever, with a fantastic story and tons of meaningful dialogue. Action movies/games can be over-the-top and still good. Call of Duty usually fits this bill IMO”.

Truth be told, sure, this detail is quite unrealistic, but, why would it have to be realistic? A touch of drama never hurt anybody, especially in hard-core action games and movies. So, don’t think about it too much, just enjoy the storyline and all the amazing effects.
