Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is now available to play in its entirety. The Bayonetta prequel has introduced a brand-new world in which Cereza’s story will unfold, along with a bewitching battle style that contrasts the bloodshed we’ve become accustomed to seeing in previous Bayonetta titles.
One of Cereza’s innate powers, known as Witch Pulse, is available from the start of the game upon completing the gardening task set by Morgana. While the power requires the use of basic controls, there’s a trick to getting it just right.
How Do You Use Cereza’s Witch Pulse in Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon?
In Bayonetta Origins, Witch Pulse is described as a basic Umbran Art that utilizes dance to imbue its target with magical energy. This power can be controlled by holding ZL on the left bumper of your Nintendo Switch while tilting the L joystick to direct Cereza’s movements.
Despite the simplicity of the controls, Cereza’s dance must be timed perfectly to successfully cast her Witch Pulse. This can be tough, so Nintendo has given players the option to use Cereza’s Witch Pulse both manually and automatically.

How to Use Witch Pulse Manually in Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon
With ZL and the L joystick, you can direct Cereza’s movements in time with her magic to cast Witch Pulse. To discern the rhythm of her movements, carefully watch the red orb that rotates within Cereza’s magic, then follow along using your L joystick.
Next, watch closely as crescent shapes appear within the rhythm, and direct your joystick to those marks as the red orb reaches them. Hitting those points will sync Cereza’s dance in time with her magic to cast Witch Pulse.
How to Switch Witch Pulse to Automatic in Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon
Casting Cereza’s Witch Pulse can be tricky and time-consuming, so you can change the power’s setting from manual to automatic in Bayonetta Origins if you’d rather skip the commands.
Upon learning Witch Pulse in Morgana’s garden, you will be given the option to change your setting to automatic. However, you will always be able to change the power setting if you decide to switch back to manual later on.
To change your Witch Pulse setting:

- Then, press A to select Options
- Scroll down to select Game Help Settings.
