At the end of a gameplay video showcase for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the angle of the camera was moved purposefully to what appeared to be the start of a house and a base. The camera perfectly showed a roof on a housing foundation and the remains of what looked to be some form of castle or tower.

This happens to be directly after a fusion feature was shown in the game. Essentially, players can take any object and fuse it with another object. This way, they can create vehicles, weapons, and different contraptions.
Obviously, the showcase was hinting at players being able to build their own houses and bases in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Is There Base Building in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

While we may be stretching the limits of what it means, this could be the beginning of a new village in Hyrule. If Link has the ability to build, what is to stop villagers from setting up their own homes close by so that he can protect him. He needs to break into homes and destroy pots, so the only reasonable way is to start a village for neighbors.
Until we get more confirmation, we can only image what’s next.
