We just can’t get enough of BG3 Mods. And now it has come to our attention that a massive mod that expands Act Two of Baldur’s Gate 3 is in development.

Larian said BG3 will not have a DLC or other significant content updates, so the players had to take matters into their own hands. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a fertile ground for modding, and there are over 12.000 Mods out there, ranging from simple cosmetics to those that tamper with the game’s rules, to full campaigns. You have probably heard of the Forsaken custom campaign mod or the upcoming Curse of Strahd mod that is in development. The same creator who is working on the Forsaken mod is also working on a massive new project.

SquallyDaBeanz Is Working on a New Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod That Expands Act Two

A couple of days ago, SquallyDaBeanz posted a teaser video of a new mod they are making. It is appropriately named “Baldur’s Gate 3: Act Two Expansion” and, you guessed it, aims to expand the second act of BG3. More specifically, it is set between Acts Two and Three, between the Shadow-Cursed Lands and the city of Baldur’s Gate.

According to the creator, “The Act Two Expansion adds a new region to the game that is accessible between Acts 2 and 3. It features new areas, dungeons, encounters, items, secrets, puzzles, lore, and more. The main goal of the project is to give players a whole new region to experience that is similar in scope to the Act 1 Wilderness. This mod focuses mainly on exploration and combat to capture a similar sandbox feel, while getting to enjoy all the fun of mid-to-high level characters, spells, and items!”

“The mod takes place after leaving the Shadow Cursed Lands but before reaching Baldur’s Gate. With the Army of the Absolute on the march, Tav and the gang must find a way to cross the Chionthar River before taking part in an epic battle against the Absolute’s army at Rivington.”

As for new NPCs and dialogues, this mod will be lacking in that regard, as the whole story will be told through notes and the environment. Unfortunately, it will not be accessible for console players. But the “Act Two Expansion” will be compatible with other mods, except for those that already tamper with Act Two.

The release is expected somewhere in late 2025, but you can track the progress on SquallyDaBeanz’s Patreon, YouTube, or Bluesky account. SquallyDaBeanz’s Forsaken Mod was well received by the BG3 community, and we do not doubt that this one will be pretty cool as well.
