Wondering if there’s a new ending in Alan Wake 2: The Final Draft? Stick around. We’ll cover everything you need to know about the New Game Plus mode and what it brings to the table.

Alan Wake 2 picks up 13 years after the events of the original title from Remedy Entertainment, splitting the new chapter into two questlines. During your playthrough, you’ll follow Alan and newcomer Saga Anderson as each character works to understand the mysterious happenings around them.

With the introduction of New Game Plus this week, it seems that the story has now grown even bigger. Known as The Final Draft, the new mode allows you to retain collectibles and weapons on an Alan Wake 2 replay — but does it feature a new ending as well? Here’s everything we know.

Alan Wake Remastered
  • Intense combat, where it takes more than bullets to banish the darkness
  • Weaken ‘The Taken’ with light before finishing them for good
  • Use lights in the environment as islands of safety in a world where darkness is deadly
  • Find manuscript pages from a novel Wake does not remember writing
  • Travel through a visually stunning and terrifying version of the Pacific Northwest, with newly remastered visual fidelity bringing a classic game to new platforms and players

Does Alan Wake 2: The Final Draft Have a New Ending?

Alan Wake 2: The Final Draft does, in fact, feature an all-new ending for players to unlock on their next playthrough. This was confirmed in an X (formerly Twitter) post from the development team — but that’s not all the New Game Plus mode brings to the table.

In many ways, The Final Draft enriches the story with changes made to the narrative from the base game. Moreover, the New Game Plus mode will come with added perks. In addition to retaining all weapons and upgrades upon starting a new game, you can now play in Nightmare difficulty, an exceptionally challenging setting that returns from the original title in the series. This will aid players as they take on tasks in the dual storyline with character upgrades and top-notch weapons.

While this is certainly a huge bonus, perhaps the largest narrative changes come with the addition of new Manuscript Pages and videos, which reveal new tidbits of the ever-expanding series lore. As you progress, you’ll learn more about the story while it’s unfolding, ultimately leading up to a new ending. Remedy has stated that the new content will “spark speculation and theories” within the game’s dedicated community, adding excitement to the release of The Final Draft.
