Dark Souls III: ‘I’m cursed to enjoy Miyazaki’s aesthetics, just not his video games’
Alex Mazey from GamersFTW writes:
"Speaking to the Guardian in early 2015, Hidetaka Miyazaki said he’d always felt an affinity towards Ico. Reading this, and it all begins to make sense to me. The isolation, the gothic landscapes, the uncanniness found in Dark Souls III, or really any game he’s made, including Bloodborne. Even the sparse use of narrative and storytelling is largely used from the realms of a game like Ico, and its celebrated successor, Shadow of the Colossus. I’m not going to pretend to enjoy a game like Dark Souls III, but I can appreciate its artistic design, and the ambition of Miyazaki."
