SEGA Explains Alpha Protocol Delay, "AAA Potential"

GCO: "Alpha Protocol is a contender, non the less. However, with such heavy holiday competition, it needs the cutting edge tools to impressive potential buyers; seeing that it's a freshmen in the presents of senors. With that said, SEGA has revealed that Alpha Protocol has stepped back into the shadows, and that it won't release this year."

Segata Sanshiro knows that the reason behind Alpha Protocol's delay is because it is afraid of poor sales due to all the major releases this year.

Yep, too many major releases coming out. I guess it'll be AAA material when it comes out without any competition.

1.2 - Spring 2010?
That's when blockbusters like God of War III and Gran Turismo 5 will be out. Good luck competing with that, SEGA. You will sure as hell need it.

DK you have to remember those are both ps3 exclusive, Since this will be multi it won't have to compete with just those. And personally I can't think of much coming out in spring for my 360 that I would want.

*Edit @ Below*

Oh yea thanks. >.< For some reason I have really bad memory when it comes to games, There is more then likely more going to the ps3/360 in spring as well just bad with dates.

2009 has been (and still is one hell of a year) for a PS3 owner like myself. 2010 looks just as good (if not better) for the PS3. Even the the Xbox 360 has some decent titles coming out. That goes both for exclusives and multi-platform.

Alpha Protocol may become a decent (if not great) game but SEGA's reasons for the delay of the game are pure rubbish. Maybe (if we gamers are lucky) SEGA has finally found out that releasing rubbish (the Sonic series the comes to mind) will not sell and that Alpha Protocol needs another few months of hard work before anyone in their right mind would buy it.

"AAA potential"

Well. That sounds like a nice crock of euphemistic crap.

Anyway, I hope they use the time to do proper QA.

3 - soooo...
What I understand that if there are no competitive games released in the same time frame, its ok to release a sub par, crappy unplayable game.

5 - That makes no sense
Wont release until next year when all the big hitters come out?Its going to be worst for them next year. They must have a dud on there hands if they feel they cant compete with other games this season which is a little slower. This year has been just a push year for every great title.horrible.

Thats smart, because early previews, like the one from ign, revealed that the gameplay wasnt so hot.
So this delay is only for the good.

Im kind of glad this game got delayed . I was looking forward to it but more polish couldnt hurt. Also the holiday season is very crowded. but I think Publishers should start using the whole year for big releases and not try to group them all into a a few time frames.

9 - good choice
Even though -offcourse- they delayed it mostly because of all the AAA games releasing this holiday (and don't forget Mario Bros wii!) it's a good call. The gameplay seemed OK for me, but it didn't really look like a HD-game for this console generation... Hopefully they improve the visuals in these few months.

12 - "heavy holiday competition"
So basically they are saying “we are afraid of Modern Warfare 2”.

To be honest I would have rather picked up Alpha Protocol over Modern Warfare 2.

Since I can’t play online I can’t justify $60 for a 6 hour campaign.
