First 'Games on Demand' titles launch

Console Monster writes: "The first titles have launched for the Xbox 360 Games on Demand. The seven titles are now available to Xbox Live members that were fortunate enough to obtain a place in the Preview Program. What's interesting about the titles is the game's pricing, which is listed in pound and pence, rather than in Microsoft Points. The titles currently available are as follows:

Call of Duty 2 - £19.99
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - £19.99
Need for Speed Carbon - £19.99
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga - £19.99
Mass Effect - £19.99
Viva Piñata - £19.99
Assassin's Creed - £19.99

The remaining Games on Demand titles, revealed yesterday, will be rolled out over the next few days, before the new dashboard update is available to all Xbox Live users on the 11th August..."

And is that price right 20 euro? that would be like 40 US.. I think something is wrong with that pricing.

You guys can't download those games over seas. It might be the same that would suck, but you will know for sure in 4days.

4 - Most
are $29.99 US. A few, like Mass Effect & Carbon are $19.99. Only credit card for purchase at the moment, no points. Largest files I've seen are just over 6 gigs.

I hope that most of the releases are $20. $30 is a little too much. Also, I may need a larger hard drive than 120 GB...:-p

Mass Effect is $20...buy it

4.2 - I know you can find them used for less.
For those that don't like to buy used, some of these titles are hard to find new any more. Plus, there's those who just don't like being around other people. Already have Mass Effect. If Assassin's Creed was $20, i'd probably get it.

5 - Um...
Assassin's Creed
GOD Price: £19.99
Play.com Price: £8.99 (Disc based, so can be re-sold)
Saving: £11

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
GOD Price: £19.99
Play.com Price: £13.48 (Disc based, so can be re-sold)
Saving: £6.51

Lego Star Wars : The Complete Saga
GOD Price: £19.99
Play.com Price: £14.99 (Disc based, so can be re-sold)
Saving: £5

Mass Effect
GOD Price: £19.99
Play.com Price: £11.50 (Disc based, so can be re-sold)
Saving: £8.49

I think I can see a major flaw in this idea.

Yes but your method requires me to have to rely on the postal service and considering there's a strike on I'll download it and have finished it before your copy even arrives.

Granted, it costs a little more but it does mean I can play it immediately.

They're not exactly small downloads, though. So I hope you have a good provider, otherwise it could take just as long.

Who are you with?

This is another fine example of international pricing being totally off.

It appears from the comments that the American pricing is $20 for a digital download, obviously Microsoft forgot to change the pricing for the British currency apart from the $ to the £ sign.

$20 does not mean £20 and Microsoft needs to realise this...

It's exactly the same with the Video Marketplace (I should know, I have an American account as well as a British one), and as well as getting more movies, faster and first, but the US marketplace gets films cheaper.

For example Shawn of the Dead is 560 MS points in the UK, and 320-something in the US for HD versions.
