IGN Grudge Match: Ninja Blade vs. Ninja Gaiden II

When Ninja Gaiden II was released on Xbox 360 last year, it fell a bit short of the lofty expectations of hardcore gamers, many of whom consider the Xbox remake to be the best action title ever made. But not because it lacked flair. True to its roots, Ninja Gaiden II was an over-the-top romp through gallons of viscera and gore, punctuated by insane boss battles and inexplicable plot twists. But just when it seemed Tecmo had busted the ridiculous meter, along came From Software to challenge the reigning champ.

Like Ninja Gaiden II, the recently released Ninja Blade is a 3D action game starring a mysterious ninja who fights monsters with a variety of pointy weapons. Both feature incomprehensible storylines, absurd bosses and plenty of combat. But Ninja Blade focuses less on the latter area and more on, well, just about everything else.
