Here’s Where to Find Destiny’s Beta Download if You Don’t Have a Code

If you don’t have a download code for Destiny’s beta, you can now access it anyway if you’re subscribed to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold, as announced by Bungie.

But where can you find the coveted download? Nothing easier, it has just been made available on the PSN and on Xbox Live.

I just downloaded it for PS4 for free and it's awesome. Everyone with a +-account should try it. I've only just played the opening missions but the A.I. of The Fallen, the overall feel of the gameplay mechanics and sweet graphics have already won me over. Can't wait to start it up again and play some MP. #Excited

I don't see why people didn't just pre-order through Amazon. You don't pay anything and if you are absolutely cannot afford a dime, then just cancel it after they email the code......

"But I don't like using credit cards" then go get a Visa gift card and verify it, bam 5 dollars gets you all the free pre-orders you dang well please......

Best buy does that, they charge your card like once a month for any pre-order "to make sure you have the money" otherwise they drop your order. Annoyed me off seeing the $400+ charge for the PS4 pre-order keep showing up and their customer service said it's just a check. Amazon charges nothing until like a couple days before release so they can start getting orders ready.

Nope, I preordered Destiny on Amazon last October and I still haven't been actually charged for it (it just shows as a pre-order in my orders list).

BTW, Happy to have everyone else get a chance to jump in and try it out.

Oh, and if you play the Crucible, be sure you understand that it's not traditional domination (control)... Kills are actually multiplied by the points your team is holding, so unlike domination, kills actually DO count. Many of us missed that little detail!

I never had a code. But they did announce that PSN Plus will have access to the beta.

I'll try it out. To be honest I am not that really interested in Destiny. I was thinking about maybe renting it one weekend or something.

It went live on Thursday and ends on Sunday that is more like 4 days. Considering Xbone and 360 did not get beta until Tuesday in a way the preorder was sort of pointless to hype up as a requirement to play it

I do hope the harder difficulty is tweaked though where the AI will be smarter rather than just do more damage and have more health, cause it doesnt make the game harder, it just becomes more tedious

@airgangstarr - Seriously? You are DOWNLOADING the game (which is almost 11GB in size BTW), thus why it is taking a long time and will be limited to how fast your internet is.

My goodness, how are so many people confused by this? Don't you see the text on the screen showing how much of the game you have downloaded? Or did you really think you downloaded a multi-gigabyte game in a few seconds/minuets from the PS Store or XBL?

It's no wonder MS is able to dupe people into this cloud computing stuff, because it seems many gamers are absolutely clueless to how the internet even works in it's most basic function.

I'll give you a few pieces of valuable information for using/understanding the internet.

KB = Kilobyte, thousands of bytes
MB - Megabyte, millions of bytes
GB - Gigabyte, billions of bytes
TB - Terabyte, trillions of bytes

We also have bits, shown as a lowercase b. There is 8 bits in a byte.

Kb - Kilobits
Mb - Megabits
Gb - Gigabits
Tb - Terabits

Now your internet connection speed as advertised to you from your ISP, is likely advertised as megabits (rather than megabytes). This is done to further confuse the computer illiterates, since they confuse bits and bytes easily, and showing the number as bits looks like a more impressive numerical figure.

Ok, so say you have a 8 Mb connection speed, that is a 8 megabit connection. Now since most data on the net is represented in the form of bytes rather than bits, you need to do bit of math to figure out your actual connection speed in bytes to make it easier to figure out how fast you can download files on the net.

Remember from before, 8 bits in a byte. So simply divide your 8 Mb connection speed by 8. This will convert it from megabits to megabytes (or kilobits to kilobytes etc.) This leaves you with a 1 megabyte connection speed. Now your download speed is probably less than that due to several other factors, but it will be in the ballpark. Which means on a 8Mb connection speed, your maximum downloading speed would be 1 megabyte (MB) per second. Realistically it's probably around 800KB per second or so.

Once you know your download speed, just do some more simple math to figure out how long it would take you to download a 11GB file.

Hopefully now you realize the importance of your bandwidth speed and how that directly relates to how fast you can download certain sizes of files from the Internet.
