DSOGaming writes: "And this is why we can’t have nice things. Interplay has sent a C&D letter to the team developing fan remake of Descent. As you may have guessed, Interplay basically tried to pull the plug on this game’s development, however the team was well prepared for something like that."

Oh wow, I didn't even know Interplay still existed!

2pacalypsenow3476d ago

same here, instead of shutting these people down they should hire them

AnotherProGamer3476d ago

seems like they can't make smart decisions which would explain why they aren't making games anymore

Interplay is still a thing?! I thought they went under ages ago.

You know this is what i hate about the industry everyone out to sue copyright while maybe they have the right to I think its stupid.
Like hollywood stars and GTA ect ect. If i was dev made a game that years down line i saw someone copy my style or my creation put it in game i be honoured to see it.
Not cash in on it write letter to say remove it or else.

I own a lot of Interplay stock(Bought it in hopes they were going to make a comeback) and have been sitting on it for years. Im not quite sure what they are doing. I think whoever bought the company, is sitting on the name and the IPs waiting for someone to make them an offer for everything. They have some awesome games and they are missing the boat on remakes, at the very least. Games like Descent and Freespace would be incredible to rerelease using todays technology. That would open the door for sequels.

Truthfully, what they should be doing is embracing these guys and allow them to finish it. Release it under the Descent name and Interplay label and share in the profits. You can guarantee, as a stockholder, I am going to get in touch with them and find out what the hell is going on and why they arent embracing this easy opportunity to make some decent cash.
