well isn't that a nice offer by MS, during Destiny launch aswell pretty smart way to drive up sales of the X1

not that it affects me but wonder if this is worldwide or USA only doesn't seem to mention it anywhere (unless i'm blind)

lelo3520d ago (Edited 3520d ago )

"Buy an Xbox One, Choose a Game for Free – Sept. 7 – 13"

In my country there is a better deal. Buy a X1 and get 2 games for free, Forza 5 and Fifa 15, 400€.

Even Sony is selling the PS4 with a free game, Destiny, for 400€.

Take your pick.

uptownsoul3520d ago (Edited 3520d ago )

Microsoft is pulling out all the stops. What I don't get is, if they have the money to pay for all these games for new Xbox One owners, why didn't they just drop the Xbox One Bundle WITH Kinect down to $399?

uptownsoul3520d ago

If the Xbox One can't win September 2014's NPD with this deal, it'll be very problematic.

KarmaV123520d ago

@Uptownsoul
Because according to every person on the internet, people don't want kinect at all

JeffGUNZ3520d ago

@uptownsoul

Really? Did you happen to forget the PS4 Destiny White bundle?

uptownsoul3520d ago (Edited 3520d ago )

@JeffGUNZ You mean the PS4 Destiny Bundle that costs $449? $399 for the console and $50 for the game. So yeah, I guess i forgot that Playstation is giving a whopping $10 off Destiny

@KarmaV12 What does "not wanting" the kinect have to do with Microsoft dropping the Xbox One with Kinect to $399. If a person doesn't want the Kinect they can leave it in the box. If they find out later that they do want it for all the features they can just hook it up rather than paying an additional $150

JeffGUNZ3520d ago

@ Uptownsoul

I'm not talking about the price, I am talking about your comment saying Xbox one better lead in September. A lot of people are interested in a white PS4 with Destiny. Even if it is 10 dollar off Destiny, the white is sexy.

It's a nice offer, but it really just shows the situation they're in right now. By launching in 29 countries they should have September in the bag, but the Japan launch was dead, and I've heard anything about the Chile and Colombia launch which happened before Japan.

This to me, shows that the XBO sales in those other countries aren't anywhere near what MS had hoped for. It seems like they really want to win September in worldwide numbers, but now they don't know if they're going to win based on the first wave of countries (as of today they're in 19 of those 29 countries).

MS has been having all kinds of bundles like the Fifa 14 Day 1 Bundle $499 (Free Fifa), TitanFall Kinect Bundle for $499 (Free TitanFall), Sunset Overdrive bundle $399 (free Sunset), Fifa 15 Bundle 349 Euros (Free Fifa 15), etc....

Ms has also been having tons of promotions like this at their Microsoft stores. Trade in PS3 / 360 get $100 off XBO. Trade in PS3 / 360 games get $10 credit towards the pre-order of an XBO / XB360 game. And the exclusive 360 promotion "Save $75 by upgrading to an XBO".

I commend them on doing everything they can to change their current position, but first they need to fix their image. They have an image problem right now, and until that negative image is erased from the minds of gamers, the XBO is going to struggle.

Secondly they have to have a real price drop. The 360 had all the hype and success, the PS3 was having an equal level of media problems that the XBO is having, and even then the XBO could only stay neck and neck with the PS3 if it was $100 less, and would pull ahead when the PS3 was a bit more expensive. There's no way MS can have a $299 XBO without taking a huge loss, but they have to go down to $329 - $349 ASAP (no later than March 2015).

This is another good promotion, but it just goes to show what's really going on within MS, and as long as people aren't biting they're going to have to do a real price drop sooner than later.

rdgneoz33520d ago

Seeing as Kinect separately is going for $150, they can push the xbone down to $350 without any problem.

lelo3520d ago

I think Microsoft is going to wait and see how it goes with their exclusives this year: Forza Horizon 2, Halo and Sunset Overdrive. Next year there will be definitely a price cut (to $300/300€ ???).

Letthewookiewin3520d ago

You are correct. Im on the fence about buying one but theres nothing on that system to justify it. The only free games I would possibly want I already have on another platform. I dont even think Sunset is going to push systems. MS needs to lower the price to 299$ like Ive said since it launched.

DougLord3520d ago

You are sooooo off topic it is clear you are here just to troll. This has nothing to do with "what position MSFT is in" this is to notify people of an amazing new bundle. Who cares WHY MSFT is offering it. It is essentially a price cut, unless you don't plan to play any games, as you can get any game for free. This is massive value to anyone thinking of buying an Xbone. You are now paying <$350 for an Xbone. THANKYOU MSFT!

UltraNova3520d ago (Edited 3520d ago )

329-349 wont cut it because Sony can afford to counter immediately. They need to be aggressive to the point where Sony wont even dare to drop a year out and that is $279-299. Even then who can say for sure that if Sony stays as 350 while MS is at 299 that they could even take some market share back? Sony's momentum is quite unstoppable at the moment.

ABizzel13520d ago (Edited 3520d ago )

@DougLord

It's a shame you little kids are this ignorant, and attack because your minds can comprehend a complex and educated thought.

Nothing I said was to bash MS or the XBO, it was simply stating the chain of events that have occurred, and all the promotions they have had within the first 9 months of the consoles lifecycle, in order to promote more sales. They've had 5 bundles off the top of my head that I know of (giving the game away for free), 3 in-store promotions, and a new SKU all within the first 9 months of the XBO's lifecycle.

This makes the 4th in-store promotion. Now answer these questions.

1. Does MS and the XBO have an image problem? Yes

2. Has MS been ahead of PS in sales when both consoles cost the same price? No

So for the XBO to make a complete turnaround they need to fix those two issues. Ignorant gamers can't speak to me, and your comment shows exactly why you have 1 bubble.

There's nothing off topic about my comment, it just dives deeper into the issue at hand, which is something your 2"......excuse me 2 cents can't do.

I'm one of the few people on here who actually has every next-gen system PC/PS4/XBO/Wii U/3DS/Vita. I don't need to troll anyone, I'm just stating what's real, and if you don't like it do look at it.

Only ignorant minds can't take constructive criticism (which you seem to fit), because all they hear is what's they're doing wrong, and completely disregard what was said to improve the situation, and the congratulations on what was accomplished.

ABizzel1 # Is right, didn't you forget when Microsoft had free Xbox promotions at McDonalds last year? They were desperate to get people on board Xbox 1. I blame it on that dude they fired Don Mattrick for destroying the image of the Xbox brand with that always online and Kinect down our throats. Even the price was bad compared to a more powerful competitor that cost less. Never in the history of gaming a more powerful console cost less than the less powerful?

If the offer is indeed for any Xbox One game you want, that's a helluva deal.

gamerz3520d ago

Until you realize that free game cost you a (console) lifetime of downgraded graphics, slower framerates and your money going to a company that wanted to screw you but couldn't fool enough people. That's an expensive game!

nannasin3520d ago Show
BX813520d ago

@ gamerz
You must not own a console. That's the price you pay for set hardware. The plus is you don't have to upgrade for the games that come out for the entire gen.

Gamble203520d ago

"A company with MONEY to do things for their customers"

You mean a company strongly rumored to be considering the sell off of the Xbox division entirely, the one that tried to end used game sales, and the one that refused to provide free games with their supposedly better online subscription until Sony dragged them to do it... And then the games they actually give out are crap?

Because if that's what a company with money is like, I would much rather take the underdog. To give credit to that point, though, MS did buy off exclusivity of a game they already were going to get thus ensuring less money for new IPs. I will credit you that they have the money to do that.

JeffGUNZ3520d ago

Really? MS never said they were close to selling Xbox. Give me a break.

Gamble203520d ago

Of course Microsoft as an official company has never said they were going to sell the brand. They never would until they were ready. But the flow of rumors have been pretty clear that it could be considered an option if the division continues to lose millions of dollars as it almost always has. And if both properties are sold off, PlayStation is more likely to survive as a brand to be taken over since they actually are making profits and Xbox is not (yet).

Back-to-Back3520d ago

Most of the people that will buy this are the uneducated American public. It's times like this where being an American can be disappointing.

jrshankill3519d ago

You clearly don't own the console.

I own both the Xbox One and PS4. Currently, I am much more excited for the future of Xbox One. MS is pulling out all the stops. They have worked hard to try to get the public back on their side and I am happy to own the Xbox One.

But, if you are the kind of gamer who can not be content unless a blade of grass looks sharper on your TV screen, by all means continue to moan and cry.

Hands Up For Games3520d ago

Smart move by Microsoft, it at least gives the customer who hasn't made the jump to a next gen console something to think about at least.

Whether it makes any difference is debatable but at least they're trying :)
