Ubisoft are right to warn against early reviews for The Crew

Dealspwn: "Ubisoft have warned gamers against early reviews of The Crew. Let's reiterate that: Ubisoft are warning people against a product they fear might be rushed and not up to scratch.

Hello pot, meet kettle."

yeah, this just shows they have no confidence at all in this game.

Blues Cowboy3432d ago

If Unity hadn't been such a technical shambles, I'd have disagreed and suggested that online-centric games should only really be reviewed once servers are populated. You wouldn't try to review an MMORPG before players were actually in the world, would you?

BUT Unity was a shambles, and it's justifiably coloured our perceptions of The Crew. Either way, this is a seriously risky pre-order.

Baka-akaB3432d ago (Edited 3432d ago )

Well they can't even really hide being some blacklash for Unity . People tried and saw the beta , and there is the open beta . The game just isnt really good

Mega243432d ago

I was part of the Beta, and I barely saw any players in 12 hours of gameplay. The online racing lobbies didn't function correctly. It has some customization and other stuff that attracts me, but the full product seems weak.

lipton1013432d ago

Has me just a bit nervous now. I'm good with shooters, adventure, open world and sports games so far, but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE RELEASE A GOOD RACING GAME ON PS4. Xbone has Forza, us PS4 gamers need one as well. That garbage known as need for speed doesn't count, and don't get me started on driveclub...

sinjonezp3432d ago (Edited 3432d ago )

I just cannot trust anything coming from ubisoft as of late. With games liKe ACU completely broke, and the downgrades in other titles , I'm just really hoping for the best with The Division. If they do is wrong with that title I think ubisoft is done.

Btw : shouldn't reviewers review games or have reviews out in time so gamers can have some objectivity on the game? It's like they want people to impulse buy because it's the new "thing" and in final result we get possible trash and broken games.

freshslicepizza3432d ago

you can still do a partial review even if the game isn't open to the public yet. like how the cars handle, how it performs and looks graphically. stuff like that. i do agree some games should get post reviews if online play is included.

To be fair, shouldn't the gaming media feel a little accountable for this? IGN I think have a better review process but these things could potentially be avoided if many websites didn't rush their reviews and say began with an "Early Impressions" preview of the final product. In today's age especially with more open world games, content rich online experiences, it's a little unfair to prematurely review games.

PS: This is a rant in general about the review process, considering Ubi's track record, I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Warning about early reviews for The Crew translates to warning about early purchase of The Crew.

"Ubisoft are right to warn against early reviews for The Crew"

I suspect another stinker by Ubisoft...

Chuk53433d ago

lol, doesn't this sound familiar.

Palitera3432d ago

Yup. The most overhyped game of gaming history tried this scheme two months ago.

The worst is that it actually works as a great excuse against HONEST REVIEWS since some people, specially on this hobby, are naive to the extreme and some other have their pockets filled with advertisement money...

Forn3432d ago

Meaning... The Crew is going to be a suck fest.

MSBAUSTX3432d ago

Lol suck fest. That would be an Ubi game that would actually be worth a dam.

Audiggity3432d ago

LOL

Trade in your UPlay points for knee pads

Manubiggs3432d ago

Tried the beta and I was so bored

maximus19853432d ago

i agree it was boring. the world is big for nothing, its just not a fun racing game

SteamPowered3432d ago

Ubisoft just launched a preemptive defense apparently.

Audiggity3432d ago

Ubisoft's official response: "Nuh uh! You did!" [Runs into corner to cry]

ThatEnglishDude3432d ago

From what a friend of mine said who played it and the previews I've read - this game is absolutely shocking. Terrible. For every GOOD game Ubisoft release, they shit out approximately 3-4 bad ones.

MSBAUSTX3432d ago

Wait wait wait! Ubisoft puts out at least one good game?

KTF263432d ago (Edited 3432d ago )

3 good game this year (Child of Light, Valiant Hearts, FC4)

and 2 not bad but overhyped and premature (WD, AC:U)

Dark_Overlord3432d ago

@KTF26

The problem is all of them have bad glitches which Ubi haven't fixed :(

I own

Child Of Light PS3/PS4 (Game freezes and PS4 can't gift)

Valiant Hearts PS3/PS4 (Crashes a hell of a lot and sometimes items are impossible to interact with requiring a restart)

Watch Dogs PS4 (I didn't play this till recently, but the game does crash now and again)

Unity and FC4 I've avoided due to reading the complaints of major bugs/glitches in each.

That's not to mention all their older games that are broken as hell too :(

I like the ideas/concepts of their games, but I wish Ubi would get some QC :/

KTF263432d ago

@Dark_Overlord
sorry to hear that
I've PS3 but PC is my main platform
Child of Light, Valiant Hearts: works without problem
FC4: have some tolerable issues
WD: playable but unoptimized even with the latest patch
ACU: my GTX 750 ti is much lower than the announced requirement
but according to youtube it'll work
I'll wait for the sales then I'll decide

___________
"tolerable" and "playable" are subjective
I play FC4 on 1080/60fps but on low settings (it looks better than FC3 on ultra)
I don't expect someone spent >$2000 this year on a PC to accept playing less than 1080/120fps on ultra

Audiggity3432d ago

Bubble up... the comments on this thread are fantastic.

pompombrum3432d ago

Well after The Crew, they'll be due a good one.. crossing my fingers for The Division and/or the new Rainbow Six.

Wait. I don't get it. I reported on something that I recently noticed. I did mention in my article that I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't gone to play The Division 2. That said, if this was nearly a week ago, I wouldn't know, as NO ONE REPORTED ON IT! Not IGN. Not Gamespot. Not Kotaku. No one.

You got people here complaining that there are any real gaming journalists and game journalism sucks, but when someone is acting, doing something to make something known to the public about what a company is doing. What do you do? You poke fun at it. What is it that people want? Do you want to complain for the sake of it? Or do you actually want people to do something to make those who aren't in the know aware of the shady stuff that's happening and to sound the alarm?

ravens527d ago

It's the "oh well" setting in on digital users. They don't care they don't own their stuff for some odd reason. 🤷🏽.

FullmetalRoyale6d ago

Good for you! People sometimes just feel the need to show how little they actually have to say. Very respectful dressing down, btw, which is another thing we need more of.

fan_of_gaming6d ago

I appreciate your article,
- "If this isn’t considered both a “WTF” moment and setting a dangerous precedent, I don’t know what else it would be"
- "it could also signal other publishers that removing games from our accounts would be okay"
- "Maybe those firmly against this digital future have a point after all"
- "This. Is. Fucked. Up."

As someone against an only-digital/streaming future for entertainment content (movies/TV shows/games/books), it feels like talking into a void about the points above on this website, or on Twitter, or with my friends, etc. People don't get it. I'm strongly contemplating whether this will be my last generation of PlayStation & Xbox consoles (I'm confident enough that Nintendo's next system will still support physical media and that their 1st-party games won't have online-required installation or usage restrictions).

He is one of the long running trolls of this site, he never says anything positive. Every single one of his posts are either incorrect or flat out stupid. Pay him no mind.

Welcome to the era where you no longer own your games.

gvrd00196d ago (Edited 6d ago )

I'm so done with Ubisoft, removing games one paid for is a new low...
Bye Ubisoft,
You've done f#c*ed it up !

Chocoburger6d ago

This was me 9 years ago, when I realized all they wanted to make were filler boring games that are packed with micro-trash-actions.

Snooze! Moving on from Ubi-junk!

vTuro246d ago

I see they're trying their best to surpass Activision Blizzard for being the most hated gaming company. Keep at it, Ubisoft, I believe!
