GTA V vs Watch Dogs Next Gen Graphics Comparison - which game is Open World King?

A video which looks at some of the graphical differences in the updated GTA V compared to Ubisoft's entry game Watch Dogs. With both games offering an open world to explore, the question is raised, which one looks better? Is it a question of personal taste or does one game out perform the other in the visual department.

So true!!! Ever since Watch Dogs came out, Ubisoft games have been disappointing. We had it all, downgrades, parity and lack of optimization.
Only independent group from Ubi still delivers the goods has it should.
Rockstar, has the name says, rocks! They are an example to be followed.

They look pretty similar, but GTA runs in 1080P on the X1 and Watch Dogs in 792P, almost half as much....

Agreed. Even running at sub HD resolution gta5 on the xbox360 had better visuals than watch dogs on ps4. The only win watch dogs had was textures on characters. Gta5 had more detail in everything else especially the city. The cars looked better, the animation was better the lighting was even better.

Gta5 on current consoles ups the ante in every possible way. There is zero question which looks better. Speaking of GTA 5...go out into the mountain area at night during a thunder storm...omg it looks incredible. The lighting is just amazing and the water effects are great too. The only thing missing is aside from tire spray water doesn't interact with vehicles meaning you don't see them get wet or water move on them but water in thr environment on the ground looks just excellent

Watch Dogs does some things better but I prefer the lighting in GTA. Plus GTA is a far better game imo.

i completely agree with you! WD is shitty game... BUT.. there some things that are a bit better than GTA, but keep in mind that WD was developed for new gen and old gen, while GTA was developed for OLD GEN and then, PORTED to NEW GEN. Only GOD know how GTA could look if developed for next gen only....

Watch dogs look better. And the trees and stuff dont even move and blow in the wind like they do in watch dogs. Watch dogs clearly has the advantage with physics too. Gtav looks good but not better than watch dogs. I think a lot of people is bitter because UniSoft is doing what they have been doing for the longest. I gtav is the better game though. Watch dogs bored me. Oh well I only preordered it on for 30. I doubt I buy the next on. It also seem weird because the PC version looks way better than this.

Yep, watch dogs got a lot of things right... but I got bored half-way... every mission plays the same... either you are pursuing someone (without being able to shoot! :( ) or you are trying to sneak up somewhere...

I'm playing GTA 5 for the first time and... oh boy... the missions... the heists!!!... again, the heists! the expensive cars' sound on first person view... the stock market mechanic... the level / city design is amazing!... I'm just loving it...

they did this 6 months with GTA V PS3 vs. Watch Dogs Next-Gen and it was stilll agreed on this site that GTA V looked more visually appealing.

I knew when the GTAV remaster came out that it would put WD to shame. Ubisoft were just schooled! I saw this coming, and it's hilarious!! I feel duped into buying WD but I'm not making that mistake again. Now, I can't wait to get home and try out GTA on my PS4 :)

Im playing GTA for the first time on any platform, via the PS4 right now... After playing over 30 hours of Watchdogs, GTA wins without a fight. The world feels more alive, the lighting is better, sound draws you into the game world like no other, the draw distance goes for miles in the distance(Watchdogs is about a block and a half, max), the world around you acts and reacts to itself(Watchdogs world would stay the same until you walked a block and a half away and it reset the street).

Case in point, in my first half hour with GTA today... I walked to a location where there were 3 bridges about a mile away from each other, each had visible cars driving over them while birds flew in the sky, people walked by, debris floated across the street, leaves blowing in the wind along with tarps and trees, a train sped by below, as a police chase blew by me and ended in a bloody shoot out that prompted an ambulance to come and inspect the scene, while traffic piled up with dozens of cars... the ambulance driver got out and pulled out a pad to write the specifics on as day turned to night. Then, I had two guys chasing me because I looked at their girlfriends the wrong way.

Nothing even remotely close to that ever happened in my 30 hours with Watchdogs. All this happened within 30 minutes of GTA.

Well, GTA V is going to be just insane. V was just a remaster and still looks gorgeous.

Also, remember games like just cause 3 "2 still one of the best looking worlds", new elder scrolls, fallout etc. We've yet to truly explore current gen open worlds, I can't wait!

I have been playing gta v for quite a few hours now as my copy of dragon age didn't arrive in the post today :( and I got bored so got this on digital download. All I can say is wow, I really thought this game could not get massively better from the last gen but it's just incredible what they have done. This blows watchdog out of the water and then takes a huge dump on it.

There are times where Watch Dogs looks dann real. And i think the water and the forest areas look beautiful. But overall GTA will win with more variety in graphics, far better characters even tho the black dude was pretty boring.
