The other day I was playing BF and I looked at the dirt, and even with all the bullets flying and things blowing up, I couldn't help but notice how the dirt on the PS4 looked way more like real dirt then the dirt on the X1. I didn't even play the game, I just looked at trees, grass, the stone on the building I was about to blow up. I really think I'd enjoy my X1 games more if they looked better. The only year the Xbox outsold the Playstation was 2005. It took 8 years for Sony to catch up with the 360's total sales, but that doesn't change the fact the PS3 outsold the 360 annually. Prior to the 360 the original Xbox sold 25 million consoles to the 150+ million PS2's.

Before the 360 launched, who do you think was talking about sales domination? Was it the 25 million Xbox fans or the 125+ million Playstation fans? Xbox fans have been told by Playstation fans their console of choice is junk and will get crushed by the Playstation Since the original was announced.

Do you really want to tell me Xbox fans are the ones claiming sales matter when they have been the underdog from day 1? How many Xbox fans do you see claiming the Xbox will "dominate" or "crush" the competition? The only thing Xbox fans ask for is their console remains competitive. I'm pretty sure Microsoft has delivered on that for almost a decade now.

I have zero expectations the Xbox One will outsell the PS4 annually on a global scale. The Playstation has always been the preferred brand in many more countries and regions. North America and the UK are the only places the Xbox brand is strong. That isn't enough to offset the rest of the world. That is reality. That is also why we don't see Xbox fans waving the sales domination flag like Playstation fans.

Games typically don't release in the summer months since sales during these months are traditionally light. The last quarter gets the bulk of annual sales. Microsoft doesn't have the vast amount of first party studios that Sony has and relies on third parties to fill the gaps between releases.

Good job MS. Honestly with me being a primary X1 user (tho i own and support all consoles) i want Sony to continue to kick MS ass. The reason being is that MS has regained its focus on games unlike during the last few years of the 360. The more sony wins the more MS will try harder. This will also help sony in the long run because i beleive that MS will over take the US at some point, japan is and always will be a wrap for MS so that only really leaves the UK as the main battle ground. Once MS catches sony they will begin to deliever great games ON TIME like MS. Actually, the norm has been PlayStation outselling Xbox since the PS3 was released back in 2006. Don't worry though, it will return to normal as soon as Microsoft is no longer willing to sell their console for $250-$290. Deals won't last forever!

I don't think they are going to raise the price back to $400 after January. If they do, they were drop it again at the E3. XBox 360 outsold the PS3 for the first 2 years worldwides. It wasn't until the PS3 Slim was released when the it started outselling the XBox 360. Even then the 360 was still outselling the PS3 in U.S. and UK for many, many months after that.

I commend the hell out of Microsoft for getting me back into a console. I had the Xbox One at launch gave it to my brother cause I didn't play it. I recently got another one (let my brother keep mine, i bought the 1tb AW model for the space). I am happy to see a contender again.

Both Sony and Microsoft NEED this. We as gamers benefit the most from stuff like this. It causes them to make better games, lower prices and give you great deals.

Umm...I would say good job Microsoft, but once again I think they are playing us for fools with the WAY they are stating it.

So which one is it? They always use the sold to retailer numbers, so it would be a bit odd, or hypocritical if they suddenly switched this ONE TIME to 'customers'.

Microsoft spins so much we should call them a merry-go-round. So I'll wait until Dec for the Nov numbers to come out which aren't couched in Microsoft Spin Speak.

If this is true, I can see why some people would enjoy that, but I wouldn't go trumpeting a change, it simply means they pulled forward people who were going to buy next year, because of the lower prices and bundled in games.

They've used up all their ammo to stoke sales, and so they BETTER beat Sony this month, because they have nothing else left they can do.

Sony on the other hand has yet to really do anything, and if they still win, wow, simply wow. If they respond price/bundle wise and add in their coming 2015 lineup it could easily go back to what it was recently between the two.

Plus Microsoft has been indicating this is a short term discount (through the holidays). I don't believe that, but if they really do raise the price back up, that won't be good for sales.

All we really know right now factually is that the Xbox One when it's priced is dropped (after the removal of kinect's meant a first drop in price) and bundled with games, it seems to sell well in a holiday season.

This gen, I have played Ryse: SoR, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Titanfall, Killer Instinct, Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, D4, Dance Central: SL, Halo Collection among others as well as some fun multiplatform (ps4 and x1) titles.

It has delivered on having fun games to play. So for me, that works.

People seem to forget that the shopping season hasn't begun and when it does sales "could" double because as it stands currently the x1 is $50 less than the ps4 and alot of retailers are discounting it even further than that to promote their own sales...Not to say ps4 won't sell either but with the push microsoft is giving the x1 they can close the gap alot sooner than later.

No hype involved, in my opinion the PS4 is simply the best console of this generation. It's cheaper, more powerful and has a strong line-up of games on the way, along with some brilliant content already. The Wii U, despite popular belief, is a well made console too. Not only that: Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, 3D World and Pikmin 3 were/are fantastic - I've loved all of them. It's also getting nice and cheap, offering plenty of value for money.
I played six months of the 'ONE' and was left disappointed, it felt like a rushed console to me. I think it's a result of it being quickly turned around from the 'spybox' it once was. It has a few exclusives sure, Sunset looks good, but it's nothing special to me. Overall I'm just shocked at these numbers. What are people buying it for?

Well I'm from England and this doesn't mean a lot, sorry xbox has always had a good following in the U.K. Not only that but just dance was at number 1 on the charts for nearly 2 months! Seem to buy all sorts of tat in this country. Still a million is a million.
