Drive club is beast! wish it had more cars tho.

Spenok3466d ago

I'm surprised to see so many high review scores from EDGE this week to be honest. An 8 for them is like a 9.5 or a 10 from most other sites.

reaperofsouls3466d ago

edge is generaly harsh but fair , has been for years

Walker3466d ago

DriveClub – 7
Forza Horizon 2 – 7

Sony must have paid for review parity.

Hellsvacancy3466d ago

Maybe MS paid for review parity????

Those that live in the real world should know i'm not being serious

I've played DriveClub, it's the only PS4 game I have played, and no, I didn't really like it, the cars handle like tanks

BABY-JEDI3466d ago

Just curious, what type of tank? Infantry tank? Cruiser tank? Or tanky tank? You know these things are important when your talking about a driving game.
; )

Immorals3466d ago

@Jedi, what about a fish tank?

Jdoki3466d ago

Surprised Horizon 2 got a 7. It's probably the best driving game I've played in a long time and I would give it an 8.

Not tried Driveclub yet.

An 8 for Destiny seems right to me.

Immorals3466d ago

Horizon is at least a 9 for me. Hands down best racing game I've ever played.

Alsybub3466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

Surprised at the FH2 review. I haven't personally got it but going by average reviews I kind of expected to be a given that it would score higher than Driveclub.

Alien Isolation an 8, who would have thought? Hopefully my issue will have arrived when I get home tonight. It'll be an interesting read.

RosweeSon3466d ago

Edge are normally pretty spot on, they don't get wrapped up in hype and fanboy ism, can see things from an objective perspective and very rarely get it wrong, the fact they have given barely 15/20 10/10's over 10/15 years says it all. They won't big up something unless it earns it, suprised smash bros didn't sneak a 9 at least tho. Still an 8 from Edge is no shoddy game.

Alsybub3466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

The first issue was in 1993. So, over 21 years that really does show how strict they are.

For those that say "a game can't score 10". Edge say that a 10 is based on the here and now. If it's perfect for it's time then it deserves a 10. Also, a 6 in Edge is not a bad score, it means that the game is a little above average. They don't score everything between 7 and 10 like other places and a 7 is actually a very good score.

They'll often give very different scores when compared to other outlets but when you read the reviews they give solid reasons why that is. They tend to review from the perspective of a developer, rather than a gamer.

Mexxan3466d ago

That took me back. I remember opening up the ominous black plastic cover it came in and being blown away. I used to ring up and ask them info about the ahem, 'next gen' game I was hankering for at the time-Microcosm on CD32.

Times change...

Knushwood Butt3466d ago

Yeah, I had all the early issues, including the first black one mentioned above.

Then I realised I hated the mag.

Jdoki3466d ago

@Knushwood Butt

Same here.

I was a subscriber for years. I liked their strict review policy. But eventually the writing style of some of their journalists got more and more self inflated and pompous. I think it was one of their older Mario Kart reviews that finally made me cancel... It said nothing about the game, and was just a load of hotair.

They may have changed for the better since, but I don't bother reading it any more.

Alsybub3466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

For some reason the issue I remember is the one where they previewed the PS1 and it had loads of up close photos of the console and all of the other weird and wonderful prototypes they had made. I remember spending hours just looking at the pictures.

I think that when I got hold of my import PS1 with Ridge Racer in '94 it was possibly the most overcome with excitement I have ever been about a console.

I found that issue a few years ago and realised that all of the face buttons were laid out differently and the console had different buttons, symbols and a much larger PS symbol on the lid than the final product.

RosweeSon3466d ago

Ah there we go knew they'd been around for a while now, I'm more of a gamesmaster man myself, God bless the master himself but yeah Edge is always worth a butchers, just a shame it's a bit high brow for me ;) but yeah 6/7 isn't terrible from Edge Id propablly just wait to get it on the cheap if they scored that much but yeah same with all reviews its that particular persons opinion and as were all different they may have different views but it's always worth finding out. Helps us to make an informed decision ;)

Knushwood Butt3466d ago

@ Jdoki

There was another mag that came out after Edge, maybe around 1995, that was like a hybrid between Edge and the other mags, and also covered arcade games. Can't remember what it was called now, but that was excellent. Unfortunately it didn't last long.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC2h ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Friendlygamer3h ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey6022h ago(Edited 2h ago)

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya52m ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde45m ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me
