PSGamer: The PS4, PS3 and PSVita are all brilliant gaming machines but like every console, they have issues. Some of these issues are shared by all game consoles and others… well, they are exclusive to PlayStation and Sony. These problems range from mild annoyances to rage inducing faults. Without further ado, here are the 6 problems that only PlayStation Gamers will understand.

WTF MAG, PS all stars and warhawk DOA? I think not I played them all online and they were very populated especially warhawk... I never log in to PSN down, the only annoyance i have is when i want to watch netflix but have to update firmware first. When you put your game on Kickstarter, it's usually with a view to getting it made rather than making tons of money from it. SOF Studios have already made enough from the Kickstarter to make and support both PC and PS4 versions from its release in 2015 and several DLC add-ons over the course of around 2 years after that. It's has more than enough potential to fill that SOCOM void that many fans have been missing for years.

The game will live or die by its community, but it's still being made and that's what the fans and the devs truly care about. It can't "flop" on that basis.

Don't revive Socom if it's anything like the last one on PS3. That was one of the worst games that came out that year. Even the reviews were bad. I thought Zipper shut down the studios after that game. I'm not 100% sure but if Socom was brought back they should stick to the formula they used on the first two.

/6 wasn't given a fair chance either as they had never done a ps3 game and had limited time to get it right. They did a great job though, definitely communicated with the community better than Zipper ever did.

The above games games you mentioned probably won't be revived either as upgraded and re-released or new IP. Of course that is up to the game producers, after all they are in the business of making profits for their shareholders.

As for the games you mentioned I only liked "Heavenly Sword" (not everyone likes what you like) and could not care less if they make a squeal. In fact and many will disagree with me here the only game I would like to see new IP on is Skyrim which is "Elder Scrolls V" so I would love to see "ES VI".

Note. I am aware there is "Elder Scrolls on-line" for the PS4. However I personally don't like subscription games no matter how good?? they are.

SOCOM died so fast I have to believe there was some outside influence that contributed to it. It went from being one of Sony's biggest titles to being swept under the rug and never brought up again. Something about the situation seems fishy.

Would love to still be playing, I haven't taken a shooter seriously since SOCOM 3. All shooters anymore are too casual for me, or maybe it's just the respawning that creates the casual atmosphere. Either way, shooters have changed..

I agree with you 1,000,000 percent. Socom died because they made socom 4 call of socom. I would play for hours on end as a teen and would as an adult if i could. A thinking mans shooter no run and gun no "perks" Only thing it needed was realistic bullet drop. I can't wait for H-hour but for now I would recommend Sniper Elite 3 online it can be quite close to socom.

As a ex Xbox users that joined the Sony nation I welcome these problems no matter how many nor what ever they may be and the reason is simple I never, never ever have to deal directly with the biggest problem in all of gaming again and that problem is .......Microsoft! There are some games, and I do get envious, but I own both and use mostly my Xbox One.

Biggest problem on PS4 is PSN. Goes down for "scheduled" maintenance, then some "unscheduled" maintenance and having to deal with issues like Driveclub and PS store, it is quite appalling that people don't call that out more, but hey a few missing pixels and the entire community blows up.

As a PS4 owner, I suggest we demand quality games and dedicated server on every multiplayer game instead.

He's talking about advertising not press conferences that happen a few times a year. Puppeteer had no commercials, same with Sly Thieves in Time. One of those was a new IP and the other hadn't had a release in 7 years. A man sold several people on Sly just by bringing its existence to their attention. Now a man bought both of them at launch and they were great values. Hell they were both $40 at launch. Have a few 30 second ads about it being a family friendly game available at a bargain price at launch and some gameplay and a man is sure they could have done 1m eventually especially with a holiday bundle or something. Instead they just show no confidence and expect everyone to tune into E3 or go on their website. Semi-casual audiences aren't going to do that but will buy the game in decent numbers if you show it. They advertise the hell out of Uncharted and that doesn't even need it (not that they shouldn't but do it for both).

I will add to yours and mention the "upside down" PS1 fix as the machine got older.

With regard to the article I was expecting at least six serous issues the Playstation had across all machines but this IMHO is just click bait.

1. Network issues. Are you kidding me all consoles and PC's suffer this and it is ISP and game dependent, although I am familiar with PSN being down on occasion which IMHO is not a life threatening issue.

2. The PS4 issue with the wearing thumb sticks on the DS4, well yes that happened but that would be a warranty issue, and normally replaced on the day. Again "so what".

3. PSN store being down on occasions As per "1" above - is this such a big deal?

4. PSN scheduled maintenance - I am distinctly getting a "deja vu" (see 3) feeling here.

5. Not advertising certain games. Err! you have to be kidding. Go to PSN or any one of the myriad of gaming sites and they you will normally see pre-relase, just released and reviews.

6. The last one was the difference between the XBox controller and the PS controller - words fail me on this.

look man, I'm not trying to cause trouble and certainly don't want to come across as a smart-!@ss. however, none of your points hold true. I've had some annoyances with some sony ideas. for example, they have too many mandatory updates that don't (many times) offer a lot. it's frustrating and I wish they'd comebine many small updates into one larger one. also, I'm not a fan of sonys new playstation store layout - wish they'd stuck with the old design - but I don't think xbox alternative is any better. I also don't understand why sony doesn't offer Bluetooth support for their ps3 headsets on ps4- that's crazy.... see, there are issues I see but none of it is a deal-breaker for me.....however, the stuff you guys talk about - I laughed at all of it. The X button one only makes sense if you're talking about the US and UK last gen only. Otherwise Playstation has been more popular each gen and in every other region that gen. So really it's a problem for Xbox gamers as far as adjusting to the controller.

The layout of the PlayStation controller was based on Nintendo's Snes controller (A select, B back which is the opposite placement to Xbox controllers). If you ever wondered why Nintendo controllers are laid out BA instead of AB it's because they read books in the opposite direction in Japan and so, directionally, it makes more sense to do that.

On PlayStation systems O is select and X is back, with X swapped for B and O for A, - hence the X, for close. You may be thinking "hey, but X is select and O is back", well in Japan those two buttons are switched. When it came to the western release they decided that due to us reading in the opposite direction it would make more sense to have X as select and O as back, even though the symbolic link in meaning is lost. It's always been very confusing owning imported PS consoles and switching from yours to a friends US or EU machine!

Anyway, when MS made the first Xbox they decided they wanted the same meaning as Nintendo, where A is select and B is back but they wanted the same placement as Sony and so we ended up with a different layout to Nintendo but with the A, B, X and Y buttons where a (select) is in the same position as X (select) on PS.

All very confusing but there is historic reasoning behind it all and it all relates to cultural difference and the fact the Nintendo and Sony are Japanese companies and Microsoft is American.

I hope that was kind of interesting for someone.

Old cholesterol-ridden Fatty's big ones were always the disc read error from my fat PS2 (still have it with the hard drive inside... not that I ever used it) and my original PS1 overheating after a few hours of play.

Also why no classic "no free slots" on your only memory card? It was harder to decide between a king-sized chocolate milkshake or malt on which progress file was no longer worthy of staying on that card.

The real pain is that most of these games are hidden gems that will never be given the attention/resources they deserve. Sony loses many potential brand defining franchises by not supporting one new IP for more than 1 or 2 games. At least create a standard for the ip, then let a 2nd or 3rd party dev takeover from there.

I fail to see how the popularity of the Xbox 360 pad even comes close? For PS gamers who have never gone near an Xbox 360 pad, they'd be the exception to this "problem only playstation gamers will understand" title.

Just as people have their preference on inverted aim, other do on their primary movement. To me, primary input always goes on the up left, hence my preference to non symetrical controllers, but to those who began the analog movement from the dualshock controller, it's always been a symmetry thing. I got into it from the Gamecube, so whenever I use a playstation pad, it always feels alien to me as I want my primary input on the top left where the dpad is, but that is just my preference.
Not only that, surely if they don't like the controller, there are still peripherals that allow you to use alternate controllers on the platform.
