Holy Smokes! Damm I'm so glad I just got my 3TB External HDD last week for $115 I only had about 3GB left after my FH2 download. Also if you guys look around I think you can find some good externals even cheaper, I'm just a bit impatient. They really did a nice job with the external support, literally the setup only took a few seconds after pluging it in, ask me if I wanted to make it my default storage, which I did so I could pre-download SSO. Now this HaloMCC is freakin huge but when you consider its 4 SP games and all the maps even from pc it sort of makes sense. I love having all my games digital, just a couple clicks or a voice command away from gameplay. I think that should cover me for the rest of this gen because once it fills up I'm sure I'll have a ton of games I'm not playing anymore that I can delete.

If you dont have good internet speed then you are really going to hate trying to download 65 gig. If the speed worries you and you dont want to clear space I would grab a hard copy and then only worry about the 20 gig download

the patch is for the retail version i believe cuz the game takes up 45gb or whatever is the blu ray space so the 20gb patch is the online multiplayer part and they didn't want to cut down on content just to get it all on one disk

That's another staple of this site... that people "can't compare things" even somewhat similar games like Driveclub and Forza Horizon 2... it doesnt count if the comparisons somehow make Sony look bad, but if people are talking about how Infamous Second son is allowed to be sub-60fps because "It has soooo many graffix! It's open world!OMG! It haz so many particle effecks" "Suckerpunch is magicians!" But yet claim that Ubisoft is lying about what they can or can't do with the PS4 when the xbox one and ps4 are at a tie for resolution and framerate... nevermind that rez. And framerate are only PART of graphical fidelity, and do NOT define a game's visuals indefinitely. Hell, the PS4 version of Assassin's Creed Unity could have better textures than the Xb1 version! The PS4 version might have better sound quality or faster loading times, or better shadows or dynamic lighting or... WELL... ANYTHING! But no! The masses have spoken! Ubisoft sucks because Sony fans think they know EVERYTHING ONCE AGAIN!

But they then bash Forza Horizon 2 for not having better graphics than driveclub, even tho driveclub is by a Sony's fanboy definitions: Not a sim, therefore NOT hardcore, and is an arcade racer for bro gamers... and is "better" JUST because the graphics are prettier. I actually like external vs internal.

To me there are no single drives big enough for this gen. Even if you have a 4TB drive, after 3 years this gen avid gamers will be managing the drive space.

What I am doing is buying the USB powered 2 TB WD pocket drives. When they fill I will buy another and start dividing drives by game genres. Did that last gen on my 360. I have 14 x 320 GB drives full of games classified by action/adventure (5 drives), rpg/strategy (2 drives), sports (2 drives), racing (1 drive), shooters (3 drives), and other (1 drive).

When you have a lot of games external is the only way that works.

Internal is limited, external is essentially infinite. You can get some great looking externals now or you can go for a small one that you can easily hide away. The external ports on these new consoles are also faster than the internal ones so you get maximum performance. You also don't have to throw away a perfectly good internal hard drive when you want to upgrade. And it is literally plug and play.

External is such an amazing option, compared to internal. The only reason to hate on it is if you have the console that doesn't do it.

1 hour? man i would love it if my X1 would install so fast for me it has terrible when it comes to installing games and downloading them! and i know it is not my connection or router etc i have my X1 in my routers DMZ and still its very slow! playing online is fine but installing games or downloading games is painfully slow!

On my Wiiu its super fast as is installing also on my PS4 by far i get the fastest speeds downloading and installing its amazing.
And i love how on PS4 you can download more then 1 thing at a time like with torrents etc its great.

Its like the other day i deleted forza and ryse and then when re-installing them from disk it was TERRIBLE! i googled it and found i was not the only one facing this.

Apparently what's happening is even if you have the disk for some reason the X1 is downloading the digital version and then installing it! hence why it takes so long! so following their advice i disconnected the X1 from my router Ethernet and made sure i deleted the network settings to ensure it doesn't just connect wireless and then sure enough i could now hear the disk whirling and it installed allot faster but again the updates from the internet took ages to download and then install.

Its some thing they need to improve on and i am sure they will! Microsoft has been great with the updates etc. I just wish i could pre download the day one patch! i am on a 10mb connection here and so it will take a while on launch day! shame i cant pre download the patch so on launch day i can just install my disk version of MCC and bam!

At least a good thing is for people like me who bought it physical we will be able to just put the disk in and start playing through the single players of the halo games while the patch for multi player downloads! thing is i know installing the disk will still take ages sigh!

That's another thing i LOVE about PS4, the way most games allow you to start playing very quickly! and man the P4 is monstrous when it comes to installs! it just flies through it! anyhow i cant wait till launch day i am so looking forward to playing through all the halo games one after the other at 1080p 60fps! so its doesn't bother me about the patch as long as i can play single player which they said you could!

There should be some new reviews, there's a decent amount of new story content, a single player leaderboard system, a new ranking system, a universal control method.New audio. A new UI. Some of the maps will be foreign to people who only played on consoles. And people need to know about how it performs.

It really isn't just halo 1-4 thrown in a disk. They made some significant improvements, tweaks, and changes that people should know about before they buy.

The games now render at 1080p and run 60fps that alone is a massive difference not to just the visuals but to the game play experience as well.

And i think allot of people would like to know if the X1 versions are any good also if they run well and also what the multi players and co op is like etc it defo needs to be reviewed again!
Dont forget we have games included in this collection which came out on the O.G Xbox and so are over 10 years old! allot of players maybe didn't even play these games!

Translated to 360 storage as a baseline.... There are four Halo games in the collection. Halo Anniversary was about 4 GB for just the campaign. Halo 2 remastered is probably the same. Add all of the original multi-player maps from both games redone is and you are looking at another 4 GB of content probably. Add Halo 3 which shipped on at 6 GB. And Halo 4 had a 6 GB campaign plus an MP disc of probably 4 additional GB MP maps...

So in total the original Halo stuff if shipped on 360 would've been probably about 28 GB of content if it all shipped on 360.

Call of Duty Ghosts was 7.5 GB on 360 but the X1 version was 24 GB so we are looking at a 3x multiplier for additional resolution that X1 can provide....

Wolfenstein shipped on 2 DVDs for X360... Probably about 14 GB of content... Wolfenstein on X1 was 44 GB...

Alien Isolation is about 6 GB on 360 but 25 GB on X1...

So if you take and multiply it out 65 GB is not outrageous for 900p/1080p versions of the content on the X1. This is essentially 40+ campaign hours of gaming and 100+ MP maps... There is just so much content, it is massive.

It's not so much that disk space that's the problem, but rather the amount of time that you have to spend downloading tens of gigabytes. Not everyone has the option of a 10mb+ internet connection. (myself included)

Now if the teleco giants in NA actually gave a rats azz and upgraded at least 15% of their lines from copper to fiber optics, the problem wouldn't be nearly as bad as it currently is.
