Far Cry 4 Director Explains Lack Of 1080p 60 FPS, Not Worried About CoD/Halo

Fair enough. Some people take a simplistic view and think "oh its a cross-gen game, it should run at 60fps" but the fact of the matter is, the game is not a carbon copy of the last gen game. It'll have more detail, more NPC's and more going on around it.

Yeah but this is a game that SONY have a deal with them, not Ubisoft. Unless we're saying that Ubi are just incompetent. *shrugs* I'm not gonna pretend to be a developer and answer whether or not this should be 1080p/60fps.

Um...I think it's only you imagining things. The overwhelming majority of games on consoles this gen have been 30fps. And it's only going to become more common as we leave the cross gen games and last gen remastered editions behind and start seeing more and more full-fledged new gen games.

Some of you may not want to hear this but if you want more control of your games like being able to select your resolution and tweak settings to get up to 60 frames per second or even more then invest in PC gaming. It really is your best option but you won't find them spending hundreds of millions of dollars in marketing to get you to buy the hardware.

While PC gaming isn't as convenient at times with the whole plug in and play it has gotten a lot easier to egt into. Large part in the way Steam has surfaced. Lots of games support controllers and it's very easy to connect to the TV just like a game console. Sure it might cost you more but the savings in game prices and no hidden fees to access multiplayer will eventually pay off. Plus we all know the PC does far more than just gaming. You can turn it into a full entertainment system with all your music and videos with easy access that accepts all codecs.

I hope you mean resolution not fps right? If this game isn't 1080p on ps4 then yes I agree I believe it is only ubisoft not purposely hitting 1080p on their games. Every other games like the ones listed below from volkama are games that render 1080p on the ps4 otherwise all these games are hitting 30fps

FC3 was REALLY well optimized for PC. My not that new MSI laptop ran it @ 1080p/60 with a mix of high/ultra settings.

I can't play FC on consoles for some reason. Controls don't feel right without M/K, just like Battlefield.

But FC3 had a great PC version, which was infinitely better than its counterparts.

most of it is coming from ps fanboys expecting it to perform like a high end rig. and mad that it closer to xbone than mid range pcs. we constanly hear than there isnt much difference in max settings to ps4, but constant hear about missing gfx features, lower res. and to top it off ps4 is better than xbone version thats at 900p, but so how its not that much better against 4k pc version with the gfx features that was missing on consoles

Infected I could not agree more. But their bubbles speak for themselves, they just love to put down others love of gaming because their vision isn't the same as theirs. If I bought a PC that is equally as powerful as the PS4 or XB1 they would still say it's underpowered and try to push their master racism. At least we only have to endure 3 comments between both of them.

Yea shoulda got a PC first. And then X1 with Master Chief Collection, and then a PS4 with Uncharted 4. But I guess I would have missed out on Killer Instinct and Destiny so it's not all bad.

Most graphically demanding games will be 30fps this generation, and 1080p or below, depending on how demanding they are.

Gamers need to understand this. Ubisoft regarding AC unity are planting false seeds of info that hopefully most gamers see through where as the FC3 devs and driveclub devs are basically saying the consoles are not powerful enough to deliver 1080/60 with next gen visuals, only PCs can do both.

The day I stop playing games because they do not reach a certain resolution or frame rate will be the day that I quit playing games. I will have forgotten what gaming is actually about.

I enjoyed Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3 and I am looking forward to this iteration. I have Blood Dragon downloaded and plan to play it before I pick up Far Cry 4. I'm sure I'll enjoy it even though it might not have an ideal amount of "p"s.

I also want to try out the first Far Cry, though I understand it is quite different from the other games in the series.

I see the articles and I laugh at the arguments between resolution and fps. I have a beast of a pc so I play everything on ultra. And I have a ps4.

Despite playing all my games on ultra I still enjoy games like world of warcraft which is nowhere near the graphics of these next gen games. But gameplay wise it's a fantastic game and I can't wait for the expansion to release an the pre expansion patch this week so I will reactivate my sub as I take breaks from the game when there's no new content for a while.

Right now I don't know how I'm going to juggle game time with Destiny, Shadow of Mordor and Warlords. Not to mention gta 5 an dragon age so close by too.

I do plan on one day buying a fancy gaming PC. Not because I really care about the potential graphics boost, but performance is important, and some games are unplayable on my current PC. The lag is unbearable. While I don't care about frame rate in general, I definitely need more than two or three frames a second to actually play the game.

I understand your dilemma with having too many games to play. My backlog currently sits at over 150 games, and that's not counting the half-dozen games I'm in the middle of (Shadow of Mordor included).

thats is also one of the things they try to use as ammo to pc gamers. we may want and play games on the highest settings but we also love games that isnt as graphically intense, we dont shun games because they dont look like a so called AAA game. look at most of the indie games and the indie port the wouldnt have survive without pc support. how many people downplayed games on pc because the was exclusive that doesnt looked like console hyped up games just to later scream how much fun they are when they are ported.

Lack of 60fps is ok with console players because they are ready to play game even at 24fps because it's cinematic. But for PC gamers 60fps is minimum requirment and 120 and 144fps are great fully accepted.

Kurruptor- you have no idea what you're talking about. roughly 75% of PC gamers have DirectX 11 capable graphics cards according to the Steam Hardware Survey and out of those, a quick count of percentages in the DX11 section gave me a rough estimate that 40% of those PC's have cards faster than what's in a PS4.

mate, you need to give the first two a go, event though the first one is much different and farcry 2 is a little annoying at times, both are worth a play and you can get them pretty cheap on psn, xbox marketplace, amazon, ebay etc

I would, but I have quite a big backlog on X1, 360 and PS3... I'm getting better each year though, I used to buy every game on my list on release day, so it could be like 4+ games within a month and I would never play like half of them properly.

I've cut that down to 2 games on release day a month, but I try to space it out a bit so that I don't get any conflicting releases. Some I just can't help, but I am pushing back a lot of games this holiday for December and January.

For the people who are not happy that the new consoles can't do 1080/60 on most games then the only option is to stop bitching and build a gaming PC.

I care about +1080/60 that's why I'll play the multiplats on my PC and leave PS4/XB1 for the exclusives.

The PS4 has more processing power than the Xb1 but is still quite underpowered I knew that day one when I played Killzone SF and BF4 and saw how low the framerate would drop on occasions.

Soon these consoles will be obsolete. The CPU inside of them is a AMD one and that sucks even with those 8 cores you cannot compare a AMD CPU with a Intel one. Intel destroys AMD on CPU performance, there are Intel i3 that destroy that 8 core that the consoles have. Intel has more power and efficiency per core than AMD. It's not about graphics here that i talk is about FPS, prepare to see a lot of console games locked on 30 FPS from now on.

Actually most Amd cpus smoke Intel when multithreading Intel only wins in single thread and that's to be expected considering you pay double the price for an Intel cpu.

I really don't understand why some of you guys make sh*t up like this. AMD chips are garbage compared to Intel's current lineup. And not only do intel's Haswell v2 chips kick the crap out of AMD in single threaded performance, they also wipe the floor with AMD in multi-threaded applications as well.

Click through a few pages of benchmarks. You'll see that even the fastest AMD chip usually gets beaten by an i3, and destroyed by an i5.

No. The developers have specifically stated that it will be 1080/30 on ps4 and basically "whatever the hell the xbox can manage" which will most likely be 900/30

Just putting this out there, and don't get me wrong i love pc and pc gaming. But 4k resolution is fairly stupid. I mean i get it don't get me wrong but that's a hell of a lot of money for me right now. i don't need a console to do that i just want 1080p and my TV's refresh rate worth of frames. Shit the thing is a few years old now. This new console should keep up with my old TV. I didn't pay around 5000 dollars for the console but i paid enough to get up to what my television can do. I have a nice pc gaming rig for if i ever decide to invest in 4k though.
