Seems so. But if management knows this they shouldn't release it in it's current state.

nX3478d ago

Judging by comments from Evolution, they never expected problems of this magnitude. I am still 99% convinced that the GAF-user who connected over 500 people with each other caused this "unusual social behavior" that brought the servers down. It just makes complete sense at the moment.

badboyz093477d ago (Edited 3477d ago )

No ones fault. The game wasn't quite ready. We all knew this with the announced delayed Weather update. But this was best release date considering all the big upcoming titles in 2014-2015. Everything will be fixed soon with updates.

bouzebbal3477d ago

Debacle Club? last time i checked it was still a DRIVING game.
My problem with the media is exactly this. First i question the fact that the writer owns the game or just writing to get clicks. Second, i would be upset that servers go down like this, but this not Destiny or Warcraft.. i mean there is a solid single player mode with tons of things to unlock.
I am starting to think that it's no more than 13 years old guys who write articles like this cause in the 90's gamers were passionate and we only played offline.

Servers are offline? alright it sucks if you exclusively play online... but i doubt it!

donthate3477d ago (Edited 3477d ago )

The excuses from "customers on Sony's behalf" is amazing!

We are hearing everything from:

* it is "no ones fault"
* Sony didn't expect it
* there are single player mode in it

That is a load of BS. You know what happened when BF4 failed, yeah people got mad despite it being single player mode, and EA didn't expect it.

This game was delayed a whole year and Sony didn't expect an influx of player on release?

It is Evolution Studio's fault and it is Sony's fault. No if's and but's about it.

Don't hold Sony to a different standard than the rest so stop with the double standards.

Also since there is a single player mode, perhaps Sony should honor their promise and release it on PS+!

I think as consumers and gamers, when there is a "significant" issues with a game, we as gamers need to voice it. Going on four days with no end in sight without online play is quite significant.

kneon3477d ago

@abzdiine

The destiny servers go down or disconnect far too often, but apparently that isn't as big a debacle despite the fact that the game is completely unplayable without the servers.

It's a server issue so...

A Beta should have been done before to test server stability on a large scale and plan accordingly how many servers are needed. There is no other way to stress test servers before launch than doing a Beta.

RG_Dubz3478d ago (Edited 3478d ago )

SONY, just a money grab from impatient players who were waiting to try it before they bought it.

Could have easily released the free PS+ edition and told us the servers were down, at least people could still play offline.

Jason_Plays_PC3478d ago

Im gonna hopefully try out the ps+ version soon but i really wish they would make another motorstorm this gen cause thats evolution at their greatest.

Leffernan3477d ago

When I bought the Destiny PS4 bundle, I got one free month of PS+. They're conveniently stalling the free version so the millions of bundle buyers have to subscribe for another month and doesnt get the game for free.

RG_Dubz3477d ago (Edited 3477d ago )

Typical response of a blind SONY fanboy.. You was probably a blind 360 fanboy last-gen since you waited til the PS4 Destiny bundle, I sense stupidity is very strong within you.

If the server/software issues were so bad they couldn't release the free PS+ version then why did the game itself still launch the next day across Europe? If it was so bad and the servers were still down, why did it launch Friday in the UK.. Face it, if it was really that bad they would have delayed the next releases until after the problem is fixed, if your servers are overloaded why would you release more copies of the game to flood the servers even further? Because if it didn't matter the free PS+ version would have still dropped Day 1..

I bet you actually believe Ubisoft's CPU excuse about the PS4 version of AC Unity being 900p/30fps too? LOL

Have fun getting ripped off by all these companies this-gen.

jhoward5853478d ago (Edited 3478d ago )

From the article:
This is the hard one to determine. On one hand, it seems server issues are more about net code, then overcapacity where the solution is to add servers. Bosses don’t code. So Evolution Studios to blame. BUT, if the game was ill prepared to launch then management should not have forced it to shelves last week. So bosses deserve a share of the blame.

Personally, I think its a server issues. Most business had changed their MO due to the economy. Almost anything business related were affected by the economical collapse.
Business had to fire employes, cut spending cost, and find others ways to save money. that said, its obvious Sony had servers that weren't powerful enough to service large amount of players online. Besides, look at MS. they're mot having the same issues because their cloud tech is the 2nd biggest next to amazons cloud.

FsterThnFTL3478d ago

The media is really going to town on DriveClub, I wonder why they were so pissed at this game. Same goes for Destiny but Destiny actually deserved all the hate it got.

andibandit3477d ago

It's just the nature of things...You hype up something and by the end of it, if you cant deliver on that hype, you get nailed.

Instead of posting videos, week afer week of driveclub the last 6 months, maybe they should've looked at fixing/testing stuff

OrangePowerz3477d ago

In a normal test environment they wouldn't have the issues so from their side there wouldn't be anything to fix or test better.

What they and should have done is a Beta because there is no other way to really test the servers.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3478d ago

IMO this is on evolution. This game had a terrible development cycle since it was announced.

Master-H3477d ago

Also switching directors mid development probably didn't do the game any favors.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3477d ago

Makes me worry for ff15, hopefully that turns out great.

60FPS on PS5: Unofficial PS5 'FPS Boost' mods are radically improving PS4 back compat

Digital Foundry : Whether it's via FPS Boost or bespoke software upgrades, backwards compatibility on the current-gen consoles delivered an unexpected delight - the ability to liberate older console games from their 30fps limits, running them at 60 frames per second or even higher. FPS Boost did the business for Xbox Series consoles on an impressive range of titles, but there was always the sense that PS5 could do more. It's a hunch that checks out as a range of frame-rate unlocks are available for PS5, covering many must-have games - the major caveat being that only exploitable consoles running on older firmwares are invited to the party.

you love to see new life being breathed into older titles but damn the process to get there. It should be automatic that these work for everyone... not just those who exploit their systems. Really wish Sony and MS would keep this program going officially.

Psychonaut8598d ago

Damn this sucks. I want this shit so bad, but I’m not jailbreaking my console. And frankly I shouldn’t have to. I’m not a tech person, but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate? Or would that have to be a large patch?

dveio98d ago (Edited 98d ago )

"but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate?"

I guess it's not.

But it has become a profitable business if you do so.

So no one would pay for only the framerate patched to being unlocked. So studios need to offer more than that.

But this would take more time, polishing and would cost more money. So they shy away, but won't unlock the framerate, either.

That's just my personal assumption. But from what I can comprehend technically, it shouldn't be difficult to unlock framerates via a patch for older games.

... if it hadn't became a business.

RaidenBlack98d ago (Edited 98d ago )

frame-rate unlock should be free ...
We've seen many devs offer free patches and updates to pretty old PC titles, even bonuses ... so why can't devs offer the frame unlock patch for free (in consultation with the platform-producers) for a title from just a generation earlier?

Einhander197298d ago

RaidenBlack

"frame-rate unlock should be free ..."

Obviously the result of that thinking is that developers aren't even going to do it.

If they had been allowed to charge $5-10 you would see incentivized developers doing it way more often.

People just always want everything for free, but it's not free to make the patch, people have to code it then other people have to test it, and there will always be other costs involved.

If people want dollar store gaming then expect to get what you pay for.

shinoff218397d ago (Edited 97d ago )

Raiden I might be wrong but last I thought it cost money to put patches out on consoles.

As far as me paying for it, I'm not all that interested tbh. Not enough to pay for it with older games, and newer games have been pretty decent about it for the most part.

dumahim98d ago

Sounds like the modder has to go in to make changes to unlock it on a game by game basis. "Simple" enough to do it unofficially, but to have it done officially, they need someone to go in a make that change, put out a patch and put it through certification, which I believe is not necessarily a cheap thing to do. It's questionable if going through this would then give them enough sales to make it worthwhile.

Inverno97d ago

Many games still have physics tied to framerate, i think it's cause they wouldn't want to go in and do anything extra. Then there's the 10 dollar upgrades they rather charge. The problem is that there's no compromise, cause if I could mod my PS4 and all I'd lose is online play then id jailbreak it immediately. Mods have done so much for PC games and they could do the same for consoles, but manufacturers hafto be willing to compromise.

shinoff218397d ago

It's not to hard to do and there's youtube videos that break it down really well. ANyway most of us here arent able to break are console anyway due to being up to date on firmware from playing

Chocoburger98d ago

Yep, this sucks having to require a jailbreak for something that should be standard in our industry by now. I learned my lesson when PS4 was jailbroken and I didn't keep a console on low firmware for years, but now I'm holding onto two low firmware PS5s specifically because there are features I'll be able to do that you can't do on official firmware, so this will pay off for me soon enough.

Jin_Sakai98d ago

It should be a sin to let these games sit and be stuck at 30fps.

EazyC98d ago

RDR 2 not getting a 60FPS patch for PS5 was a crime.

Are there even more than 20?

purple1011198d ago

i went to the article and theres only a couple racing games, cant find the button to move page on through all the adverts.

purple1011198d ago

ah its changed to a video now, strange, but il take it

Dfooster1197d ago

Dirt rally doesn't even make the list? Errm OK then.

Driveclub is over rated as well, with middle of the road handling and the 30fps killed it upon arrival for me.
