GameJournoPros: Joking about Paid Reviews and Mocking Phil Fish

Breitbart "Even with the extravagant, all-expenses-paid parties, consumer electronics companies and games developers don't hand out cash enough to pay the rent, whinges GameJournoPros founder Kyle Orland in another tranche of leaked emails from the game industry's private mailing list."

Only because he's on "our side" - if he wasn't? He's a corrupt, egocentric, shit stirring shmuck who writes for one of the most dubious right wing hate & fear pushing media sites around. He conciously manipulates and misrepresents like the worst tabloid writers (taking things far out of context for hits and to make a point) - the people GG complain about.

Agreeing with someone on one issue doesn't make them worthy. Just a little research on the guy is enough to show he's highly dubious - even legally so.

Find better gods.

Totally agreed, some people think because the person wrote something, people will label him/her as a "professional" and agree with him when they don't know or seen some of his previous works or anything to make sure he's a credible source of information, bias or just a plain simple fanboy.

@Just-joe google "milo yiannopoulos controversy" "milo yiannopoulos the guardian" etc.. He throws colleagues under the bus, destroys careers, fails to pay employees, attacks people for traffic, expresses clear racist, sexist and everything elseist behaviour. He's a douche, basically. He's also done the supposed "SJW trick" where he deletes the tweets that show he's a hypocritical narcissist who has a vendetta against people who disagree with his political/social stances. Look through the other articles (not just by him) on brietbart - they're a right-wing, nasty place preying on fear of "the other."

So yeah, milo is not someone I'd want in my camp on any issue, really.

Regardless of whether you are right or wrong about the individual, you also need to understand that even if someone is a complete a-hole 95% of the time it doesn't mean that you should disregard everything they say and that they won't ever be right.

I personally don't give a damn what he wrote in the past, the fact is he has provided proof in his articles about gamejournopros to backup his claims. The individuals involved have even made statements confirming the validity of the articles. His character and what he wrote about in other articles are completely irrelevant in this situation where we know what he is writing is factual.

P. S.

Don't mistake my comment as me supporting the guy's douchebag ways. I'm simply saying we need to look at each situation individually.

mixelon3484d ago

@johndoe11211 - it's all about context and accurate reporting, both of which he's doing a terrible job of. A load of out of context quotes to support a pre-decided story is not good reporting. He's goibg out of his way to create controversy even in cases where it's a stretch at best and just nothing at worst, because he's getting traffic.

So it's about his current writing, not his past writing. We know the community is real - people in it don't consider it a big deal. He's intentionally skewing things and making them out to be things they aren't - hence why nobody's denying posting, and just calling him out for being a prick instead.

He knows he's doing it too, he's an intelligent guy.

Surely a discussion among members of an industry, even if it's not fully open to the public - is to be welcomed? I'm happy they talk about these things - nothing can be done about stuff they aren't talking to each other about. If publishers dealt with game journalists individually and they had no networks for communication with each other they'd be much easier to corrupt as individuals without a way to see the bigger picture and what PR companies are doing to them all. They're discussing realities and their experiences of the industry, not individually creating those realities. It is interesting though. Publishers need to be less shady. Some journalists too.

I don't see the discussion itself as a problem though. Super secret evil community where they plot the blah blah bullshit.

Those comments aren't even mocking fish either, they're individual people questioning his motives and intentions.. JUST like GG and gamers in general do. This is just showing how much in common the other side has with everyone else.

WilliamUsher3484d ago

Instead of discussing realities why don't they write about them to the public? Or... DO something about these problems?

Your post is basically just sweeping their bad behavior under a rug. These people need to go. They can talk about corrupt practices and recognize them but they do NOTHING to change them.

mixelon3484d ago

They're addressing it. They shouldn't be forced to have all communications in public. That's frankly ridiculous and impossible. There will always be a need for non-public discussion. Talking to each other isn't inherently bad behaviour.

They aren't going anywhere.

Why not write about them to the public? Many of them *do*, and are highly critical of the PR companies and publishers that try to buy their favour. and they did before GG started. On the other hand, if the publishers will deny them access it can get messy for anyone hoping to cover this stuff, particularly pre-release.

Kotaku just commited to phasing out most pre-release coverage in favour of post-release so they have more control over what they post, among other reasons. Most big sites have said their piece on these issues, and explained how they'll address concerns..

Which is good as we wouldn't want to throw the baby out with the bath water, would we?

Out of bubs again.

Rolling the Dice: Do Modern RPGs Miss the Point of Team-Based Play?

It seems it was long time ago. A bunch of friends spending hours on end playing RPG games, sitting around the table with the box of cold pizza. Excited about the story, listening to the Game Master, they were completely engaged in the worlds only visible to them and their imaginations.

The GM is the programmer, and in MMOs and co-ops, you can play with others. If you want to ONLY use your imagination for the visuals, read a book.

1) Hope they put it on disc this time.
2) Hope this is a positive for Neptune coming over as well.

Demons Souls5069d ago

If so, that's being developed & published by Idea Factory. Compile Heart has nothing to do with it (Thank God for that).

Godmars2905069d ago (Edited 5069d ago )

Thought Compile Heart was one of the companies lending characters.

Was also speaking in general as in regards to a US of Neptune. If these guys are offing a second game, NIS or Atlus, both of whom offer quirkier titles, will put that one out.

@kagon01:
My issue isn't - wholly - with the DL-only option, but the price. The first game should be $30. Maybe $40, and by that I mean $39.99. The only reason its $45 is the 360 disc version which has extras. Nevermind that by all rights its a PS2 game. Something that proabbly could have been done if the devs had the GOW2 engine or tools.

ClownBelt5069d ago

I approve of this god damn message.

Could have gotten my 60 bucks if they just put it on a disc.

Jack-Pyro5069d ago

Is this a half decent SRPG, porn aside, cause if it is, i might just decide to go and buy it for the 360.

Anon73495069d ago

There's no porn just some sexual innuendos but that's it.

Also it is a great game by itself, maybe not graphically but everything else is top tier.

RedDevils5069d ago

so it had some kind of "top tier" porn story jk

ThanatosDMC5069d ago

Yup, it's a decent game. I just hate that a move has to go first before any attack options.
