I won't date a guy unless he can talk profoundly about Silent Hill 2 for at least 37 minutes a day.

mikeslemonade3484d ago

Frankly most gamers don't care about other lame collections.

NarooN3484d ago

LOL 37 minutes? Why such a specific number?

And oh god I've been discussing SH2 with people for so many years I'm literally sick of talking about it with people, lol

Concertoine3484d ago (Edited 3484d ago )

Naroon

Lol im just messing around. But if a guy doesnt like games than that narrows down my conversation topics to weather and sardonic commentary on the minutia of life.

And yeah, that game and persona 3 i can talk about all day xD

Good luck guy! I made a list a month or so ago of about 25 games I'd like to buy from previous generations and pricing them on ebay it only came to $350 total. I wonder how many of his games he's played and beaten. Seems like a waste ... also this averages $28.77/game ...

Dasteru3484d ago (Edited 3484d ago )

He probably also has some sealed games or atleast good condition boxed ones with all the manuals, etc. It also includes 50 systems, some of which like the Atari 2600 can go for a couple hundred in good working condition. More again if he has the boxes and manuals. Some games also go for alot more than $28. FFs II/III for the SNES go for between $50-70 each depending on the time of year, Chrono trigger sometimes goes as high as $90, same with Secret of Mana. Earthbound is average like $150 atm. Conkers for the N64 averages around $80 and can sometimes go up to as high as $120. That is all just plain cart prices. With the boxes the values go up like 5-6x on average.

meatnormous3484d ago

Look up a game called evo for the snes, its worth more than any game you mentioned.

hkgamer3484d ago

but then other games you can find for a few dollars. it doesnt mention any complete collections as well.

rainslacker3484d ago

The Ebay listing mentions some complete collections. but I see a lot of unboxed games, so don't know if those are stored separate or not.

He also lists some homebrew games(which I believe is against Ebay listing policies), but not a number, but he does list some rare items which go for quite a bit.

I didn't bother to look at his google docs for a rundown of what's included. Some of his collection of more recent games seems rather paltry(PS1/2/3 for example)

Overall, I'd say the collection may be worth as much as he's stating, but he'd probably get more breaking it up into smaller chunks. Not many people can afford that much at one time, and people that could would likely want to peruse the collection before making that kind of commitment.

Dasteru3484d ago

@hkgamer:

What do you mean it doesn't mention any complete collections? The NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Virtual Boy, Gameboy & Gameboy Color are all listed as complete sets.

TheOnlyMastrx3484d ago

Wow, did not know Earthbound goes for that much, not going to sell mine cause its one of the best games ever, but good to know.

Best collection I have ever seen. Amazing

Allsystemgamer3484d ago

Jesus. And I thought I had a lot...

hkgamer3484d ago

definitely not worth it.

heres a rough breakdown of prices.

50 systems x$100 = $5000.

5,700 games x $25 = $142,500.

those are pretty much extortionate. could probably get it for 70% cheaper if you put effort.

rainslacker3484d ago (Edited 3484d ago )

Hard to say. Would have to go through the google docs and hope he gives a completeness and condition for everything included. Some of those systems he has go for more than $100. Some go for less, but they likely add up to more than $5K.

Anyhow, unless he has a lot of extremely rare games that go for hundreds of dollars each, I can't believe that they make up for the $1 games in there(particularly if they aren't complete).

Overall though, if someone has that much money to spend on a collection, they'd probably buy it out of convenience, because he does have a few complete collections in there. I would personally rather put in the time myself, even if I had the money unless everything was new in box.:)

On another more positive note, it is a nice retro collection, but pretty lacking in more current stuff(post 16-bit gens).

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
