Sony has revealed details regarding when PlayStation fans can expect to hear announcement about free line-up of games for PlayStation Plus subscribers in October 2014.

sadly I agree with you. I am hoping for something stellar for the PS+ for PS4. To be honest though, I have so many other games on the go right now that it probably doesn't even matter what they give us. I will download it but it'll get lost in the shuffle and maybe 2 months from now I will play.. lol

That being said, I still expect the PS4 to get 2 indie titles again for October.

I don't understand your point or why you need to reference Xbox.

Also, the reason people called them 'Arcade' was because of the 'Xbox LIVE Arcade' brand. Which preceeded Sony's offerings by quite some time. Microsoft started the push for smaller devs to produce games for the LIVE service on the OG Xbox in 2004 and they marketed the games as 'Arcade'.

Before then these devs had been known as Indies or Bedroom Coders for a very long time. Sony was involved with that with the Net Yaroze PS1 ( http://www.psxdev.net/), which was a beautiful machine. There was very little support from Sony during the PS2 era, until PS3 and the need to compete with LIVE Arcade. I can never understand why history is completely forgotten. To be honest it's fairly irrelevant anyway, but if people want to keep bringing it up they may as well educate themselves on the time line.

If you can give me a better explanation as to where the name 'Arcade' came from, as far as Indie titles are concerned, I will concede.

Considering the PS4 hasn't been out for too long, and none of the current-gen consoles have that many games, you'd be expected to think the PS4 would have an indie PC port on PS Plus every month for a while until the big guys let their old stuff go. Yes, they actively pursued independent developers, as they did for years, but this time around it was super-important, because whether you're on an Xbox One or a PS4, AAA games aren't growing on a AAA Games Tree. They're more expensive to make, because they take more time from their visual effects/art staff, and hence they take longer also. No wonder we mostly saw "2015" on new games at E3, after all.

I wouldn't get in a bunch about it, guys. Next year will be awesome. Heck, February will be more awesome than this entire year for AAA games.

The point of that is that the Xbox fanboys were all over the "XBL Arcade" and never once derided all the titles that would be published under it. They were "Arcade" titles and so were good.

Then Sony started getting more of them, and suddenly it's a negative and something used to criticize and attack the PS4 for having an abundance of. "Indiestation 4" has become a common insult.

Which is funny as MS actually made an Xbox designed with Arcade titles (read: INDIES) in mind.

I played the demo of forza horizon 2 and played drive club at an event as well but forza horizon 2 is wayyyy better than drive club because its non restricting where you can drive and the car selection is so much better as well and lastly the graphics are really good as well but both games are 30fps which is meh

Believe it or not my friend, many people who are into racing games don't want to be able to drive across fields, they like the challenge of actually keeping the car on the road.
Plus playing a demo at an event can not be compared to playing a demo in front of your own TV, your not time restricted for starters, so have plenty more time to judge.

Really happy that Driveclub "lite" will be available to PS+ members on October 8. That snuck up on me, that's sooner than I thought we'd get it for PS+ members! Not sure why, because that's pretty much when it comes out in stores, so it makes sense, but good on Sony for getting it out to PS+ so close to the game launch.

I like that we still get all other PS+ selections normally as well, and this is in ADDITION to the normal stuff we get each month. Very nice!

Hopefully this month is better than the last 6 or so months. One of the only reasons I still keep my PS3 is because of PS+ and some backlog of games I haven't played yet. If the rest of the year is as bad as the last couple of months I'll just trade in my PS3 to gamestop and take the 100+ bucks and put that towards a PS4 or a Iphone 6+.

I could be wrong and I wouldn't be all that bothered with my current backlog as I've only just started luigis mansion and 30 hours into skyward sword, my vita is rammed but I did start gravity rush the other day, my ps4 is currently packed away as I wanna try finish off last gen ie retire my 360 once I finish off resi 6 with my mate, then it's ps3/4 vita and nintendo wii U 3DS all the way, Anyway back to the point after the last couple of dry months think sony will bring out some big games this month, specially with the Christmas market around the corner these games won't go live until October, big gaming months, and that time last year on vita alone hence why I bought one in that month I got Uncharted, Gravity Rush, Tekken X Street fighter and Katamari Vita, all for free nearly paid for my console, now that ps4 is nearly a year on the market a few of those launch games will find their way to ps+ specially as the platinum classics range won't be too far off, I'm sure well be seeing a free copy of killzone soon enough maybe knack and with a bit of luck Infamous, not only that with this years new 2 assassins coming out I'm hoping I'll see a free copy of black flag, I'm holding out on buying any ps4 games until the week or 2 before Christmas, treat myself to some next gen over the holidays ;)

Next month my PS+ subscription comes to a 4 year end. It has nothing to do with the overall value of what this service brings to most PS gamers, I just find myself less interested in the monthly offerings. I don't really play any MP games on the PS ecosystem as most of my friends play (and only play) Halo no matter how hard try and convenience them owning both systems wouldn't be the end of the world. This service has brought me countless hours or play with AAA games on the PS3 (especially the wonderful 5 weeks i was without a job) and some great indies to start my PS4 adventure. I'm sure I'll be woo'ed back someday, but PS+, it's been a pleasure.

The thing is they are only going to provide retail games that are making next to nothing at retail. A publisher would only opt for a GWG or PS+ deal if they felt they could get more that from sales or... to boost sales of the next release in a series.

The issue we have now is that people are still buying ps4s and picking up many of the games such as COD, BF, Fifa, Assassins etc with it so the tail on sales is longer that it would otherwise have been.

I expect black flag around the time or just after the release of unity. Thats my most likely bet. Either that or Sony will do a big push around Xmas and give away infamous or killzone (no brainer) as a "look what you get for free with our system".

The only problem is that due to the absence of content (which will probably arrive in the form of 10,000 DLC packs), one month is more than enough time for even the casual player to finish everything that Destiny has to offer in single-player mode. For that reason alone, you'll never see it as a PS+ title...

I don't know. Maybe I am some kind of weird gamer :D. I do a lot of social activities besides gaming solo or with others. In MMO I never use guides or exploits. Always explore and do everything I can do in a game myself without the help of the internet or others. Therefore I don't spent much time playing games. Also I restart a character if my character die (I don't play those 3 vs 3 games or so where I know chances are high I die). In MMOs I consider dying as an end to my character. The MMO really needs to have an explanation why my character continues to live after dying :DDD

PS4 owners need to chill the **** out, in general. Every post about getting AAA titles reads like a spoiled child's whining! I own a PS Vita (Gen 1), two PSP's (one modded with CFW to play emulators), a PS1 original, PS2 slim, and PS3 slim (with a 1TB drive upgraded specifically for future PS+ titles). PS+ is the first time we ever got FREE FULL GAMES on Sony systems since Sony's entry into the games market (back in the mid-90's before many of the posters here were born), and you want to whine about it? As someone else said earlier, they don't HAVE to give any free games away and COULD be like XBL used to be where the fee was strictly for online multiplayer and you still got spammed with ads on your main screen! I see no 3rd party ads on my XMB...

Simple fact of the matter is that the PS4 doesn't have a huge library of AAA titles, many of them are still actively being bought, and they need to keep regular sales going to beat M$, so get used to having free indie titles and give them a try before complaining! Sony is not going to force a recent PS4 AAA into PS+ status just because some whining, entitled brats want a free new popular game.

As far as indies go, I admit that there can be suckage, but I've found some surprising gems on Steam (which is where a lot of indies are coming from - PC ports) such as Terraria, Retro City Rampage ("Grand Theftendo"... some of the most hilarious gaming moments ever), and Waking Mars (if you like Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate, you'll probably like Waking Mars). Most of the indie titles on PS+, in general, have been at least pretty good quality and well-received. Hell, I've put more time into some indie titles (Terraria, for one) than I ever put into AAA titles!

If you don't like the FREE games you're offered on PS4, there are still the PS3 and Vita which got great releases, and I am sure many of you have those as well. Play the stuff on them and just bide your time until PS4 starts getting AAA titles...
