Bloodborne on PS4: 37 Minutes of Gameplay Show that Gamers are Better than Journalists as Boss Falls

It's no doubt that many professional game journalists aren't exactly the best gamers out there, and even if the "gamer" and "journalist" categories often overlap, at industry events and trade shows you see some ridiculously bad performances on the demo stations.

There's nothing better than an extremely challenging demo like the one for the upcoming PS4 exclusive Bloodborne to showcase that difference, and as gamers uninvolved with the press and industry finally got their hand on the demo today, the boss started to fall.

Lmao everyone died except for the last two guys?

This is gonna be too fun.

Abriael3502d ago (Edited 3502d ago )

In the hour or so I was there 6 people won.

Count that there were 9 demo stations and everyone got 10 minutes, so you can pretty much make out the percentage.

During the business days where only press and professionals could access no one (at least when I was there) won.

The boss has some quite unpredictable patterns of movement due to all the fur and how deformed he is, so it's difficult to avoid his blows, especially if one gets greedy and tries to attack longer than he should instead of staying mobile.

Kingdomcome2473502d ago

Were you able to play, and beat it Abriael?

Tito083502d ago (Edited 3502d ago )

@XBLSkull- The game is published by Sony and Japan Studios is heavily involved in it, so even if From Software is developing it, very unlikely you'll see it on PC or any other non-PS platform, they already made a mistake with Demon Souls, doubt the same will be repeated with this one, fanboy.

And let me guess, you would want it on PC to play with the XBox controller, you're too obvious, from your username.

MrPink20133502d ago

Titi08,

That's funny you calling someone a fanboy as you relish the idea of this game ever coming to any other platform. The game looks awesome, why do you care if it comes out later on the PC?

HeWhoWalks3502d ago

@ MrPink201: It's OWNED by Sony. I won't be coming to PC. So it's not up for discussion - as he noted. You don't have to be a "fanboy" to know that.

OT: Anyway, I won't watch the footage, I'm on a video black out, but the screenshots I just saw have truly blown me away!

MrPink20133502d ago

HeWhoWalks,

Planetside 2 and DC Universe were on both console and PC. Sony also makes games on the PC.

The fact is only a fanboy would argue against this game coming out on the PC as well. Why would anyone other than a fanboy care?

Anyways this game looks like a must have. I still own my copy of Demon Souls and that game still holds up to today's games.

HeWhoWalks3502d ago

@ MrPink: It would make sense if this game had even the potential to come to PC to debate about it. Since it isn't, you're arguing moot points.

MrPink20133502d ago (Edited 3502d ago )

This game coming to the PC is not a moot point at all. It isn't coming to the PC, at least nothing suggests it ever will, but it was asked just like many other games have been. Still no need to call someone a fanboy for asking and then acting like a bigger fanboy in the process.

Anyways we can all agree this game looks excellent.

Tito083502d ago (Edited 3502d ago )

@MrPink2013

Well, at least it isn't funnier than your beauty pageant username, Pinky.

Btw, have you bother looking at his one bubble and comment history, the disagrees, and very obvious username? He didn't mention XBox because he knew the game wouldn't come to it, that's why he mentioned PC and his so "Avoid DS4 if at all cost". Even a caveman could tell a fanboy, if you can't, then you have problems, PARTNER.

badz1493502d ago

@MrPink2013

"Planetside 2 and DC Universe were on both console and PC. Sony also makes games on the PC."

If that is your argument, can I expect Uncharted on PC anytime soon? LBP or R&C too maybe while we're at it? /s

PS2 and DCUO are both under SOE not SCEA/E/J which handle Playstation stuff and Bloodbourne is not under SOE. So it's a pretty slim chance it will make it to the PC if any at all.

@XBLSkull

"but I don't know if I could play it if I had to play as big nosed bird-man through the whole thing..."

That's the single most ridiculous point ever to troll this game. Nice try.

What was that? You were not trolling? Sure...because I really hate that Gears force peoplevto play through the whole game as an angry, steroid-induced space dude and his bros! Why don't they let me choose to play as Mickey Mouse, right? /s

Thanks for sharing and the good quality, I knew that it couldn't be that hard :)
So excited to play this day1 without any guides or help.

DarkOcelet3502d ago

For the normal player it will be very hard but for us hardcore Souls fans , we will kick its butt :) but either way the game looks badass and the art style looks incredible .

Majin-vegeta3502d ago

That's it.Blackout on this game from now till release

RebelWAC3502d ago

I decided once I saw the first gameplay footage of this gem. I just like to check out the comments surrounding it

Geekman3502d ago

They say it's more accessable than Demons Souls. I hope so. Barely finished the first one, didn't beat the second one.

Jaqen_Hghar3502d ago

platinumed it and hoping for a that as well. A checkpoint before bosses would be a great improvement that doesn't degrade the challenge at all. It just lets you keep going at the boss instead of slogging through the level you've already beaten.

DragonKnight3501d ago

Frickin' wimps the both of you. Accessible isn't good. If you want accessible play the Wii or mobile games.

ThanatosDMC3502d ago

Agreed. Havent been watching gameplay vids or anything after the first trailer. Just buying it day 1.

OpieWinston3502d ago

I'm content with the pace of Bloodborne.

Just need some details on the multiplayer.

Still praying the game has invite co-op. Not to make the game easy, but just to have someone to play with.

FanboyKilla3502d ago

Has my attention now. Did they say there would be multiplayer? That would def give it some more points with me. Hard to pay 60 bucks for one play through. Co op would help, but it would need alot of post launch content. I mean its still one play through with or without a friend. Hell if it is as hard as dark souls, it might last me forever. Lol that shit is redunkulous.

EvilWay3502d ago

Looks great.
is their shields?

Enemy3502d ago (Edited 3502d ago )

No.

Miyazaki said having shields in this game would result in everyone thinking it'd be a good idea to hide behind it. Unlike previous Souls games, Bloodborne requires the player to be aggressive at all times. A shield goes against that.

There's also the fact that enemies will heal if they land perfect shots on you. This is why the player needs to instantly concentrate on recognizing enemy patterns. You need to be more aggressive than your enemy, which will make for the most intense Miyazaki game yet.

A shield would make no sense, especially given the new setting as well.

NewMonday3502d ago

Also dodging, master not getting hit

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee

Abriael3502d ago (Edited 3502d ago )

There wasn't any in the demo. Only a couple of the enemies had some rough wooden shields.

From what I heard, there won't be any, as defense this time around is in keeping the pace up. When you get hit, your life doesn't go down immediately, it takes a couple seconds. if in that time you manage to put some hits into the enemy, you regain some or all you've lost (or better, your life won't actually drop, or will drop less), otherwise you'll need potions.

The 7 Best Souls-Like Games - Mastering the Challenge

The Souls-like genre remains popular, along with FromSoftware's classics there are many contenders. But which are the best Souls-like games?

toxic-inferno21d ago

Hmm... In my opinion, the 7 best are the 6 made by FromSoftware (DeS, DS1, DS2, DS3, BB and ER), then Lies of P. But each to their own.

kevco3321d ago

Still DS1? You don't feel it's been surpassed yet?

Demon's Souls has the remake of course, but DS1 has surely been outdated?

Smellsforfree21d ago

I think that the DS1 remake is better looking than DS2. The interior lighting matched with the low resolution textures in DS2 is very garish, IMO.

Besides graphics, what do you mean by DS1 being "outdated"? I'm someone who played through Elden Ring and just recently played through the DS series, and as far as gameplay went, there were all very similar.

Cacabunga21d ago

I haven’t played many but Bloodborne and NIOH1 are on top of my list.. had a blast with these 2

toxic-inferno21d ago

For world design and interconnectedness (that's a word, right?) DS1 is yet to be beaten.

9 Years Later, Does Bloodborne Deserve All The Praise It Gets?

Saad from eXputer: "Almost a decade later, it's time to take the nostalgia goggles off and accept that Bloodborne has long been surpassed by its successors."

jznrpg23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

Yes, yes it does. It’s still a great game. Elden Ring isn’t better just different and a bit easier . I like that you have to be aggressive but smart in Bloodborne

thorstein23d ago

I literally replayed it recently and it's better than I remember. I think it's like going back to a beloved book and noticing things I hadn't before.

raWfodog23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

Yo! I was getting ready to reply with the exact same four words you started with lol. Yes, I think Bloodborne has withstood the test of time and remains a great game. That’s why all the fans are hoping for a sequel someday. Hoping that we can catch that magic again with a new storyline.

Leeroyw23d ago

Yes. Just replayed it a few days ago. My first Platinum. And yes. I rage quitted so many times and called it BS too when I started. It's tight. The combat is amazing and the lore is rich.

GamingSinceForever22d ago

Elden Ring was easier? I don’t know about that at all. I remember leveling up in Bloodborne and breezing through it. In Elden Ring no matter how powerful I got I was still catching a beat down from every boss.

thorstein22d ago

That's due to scaling enemies. I remember not doing Haligtree untill near the end and having enemies withstand almost a full blast from Azur's Glintstone Staff Comet Azure. My level was quite high.

Melee characters are not fun in that game, especially for the Elden Beast.

Bloodborne's Potential Remaster Continues To Be Sony's Biggest Missed Opportunity

"Sony is missing out on a hugely profitable opportunity by ignoring fan demands for a Bloodborne remaster and PC port," says Ahmed from eXputer.

thorstein51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software. What missed opportunity? I am sure the people at From Software know what they are doing. Especially since they are hiring devs instead of laying them off.

Maybe do an article about that instead of writing a hit piece on them acting like they don't know how to run their business.

51d ago
-Foxtrot51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

To be fair Hidetaka Miyazaki said in an interview

“Unfortunately, and I’ve said this in other interviews, it’s not in my place to talk about Bloodborne specifically. We simply don’t own the IP at FromSoftware.”

So the ball kind of is in Sonys court, it feels like a missed opportunity because it’s something people really want and Sony just hasn’t really been bothered to get it off the ground. There was rumours it was at one point but it all went silent.

Cacabunga50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

Sony has been missing nothing but opportunities for a few years now.. since GOW release, it’s worrying silence we’ve been getting..

As for Bloodborne, imo it would be too soon to release it because PS4 game still looks phenomenal..

Bloodborne REMAKE I think will be PS6 launch title by Bluepoint. I truly hope so! 2 gens later we can get the same wow effect as Demons Souls.

Eonjay49d ago

He is right because it is Sonys IP but a little further back he also explained that they only work on one game at a time. This means that From must also be available. In other words it could already be in the pipeline. Ecen if that is the case, it's still up to Sony to reveal it when they are ready. As ever, I prefer not to hear about it until it's about 3 to 6 months from releasing.

CrashMania51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

'Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software'

Actually Sony owns the IP, same with Demon's Souls. I think they'd prefer if From did the work on any future of both of those though, but if Sony wanted to they could have those off to anyone else to work on them, like the DS remake.

thorstein51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Yeah. Thanks for the info.

But I still think that remasters should wait a generation. And Blue Point did Demon's Souls which was superb.

It can be a huge risk. And I think Hidetaka Miyazaki hinted that it would be a PS6 title. I don't he has no say in what happens, it's a partnership.

--Onilink--50d ago

To be honest, if there is a remake/remaster (not that it needs one) I would prefer someone else to handle it, like they did with Demon Souls

From many perspectives From Soft is an amazing developer, BUT, on a technical level they are far from impressive, both in terms of dated visuals (again, on a technical level, not art/design) and usually poor performance.

And what is the point of a remake/remaster if not to provide a visual and performance enhancement to a game that already nailed the rest?

Michiel198949d ago

@thorstein what huge risk? Part of one of the most well known ip's in gaming nowadays, there's not much risk there when it comes to a remake.

thorstein49d ago

@Michiel

I meant remasters in general are a huge risk, not Bloodborne.

Bloodborne isn't, but I think it's going to be on PS6, like how Demon's Souls went from PS3 to PS5.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thorstein,

Wow, your post seems angry..relax it's an opinion.

And btw, it is on Sony, they have the exclusive right to the game, on top of that, they could have easily, at bare minimum, offered an official 60fps patch, with a few extras and charged people $10 to upgrade or $30-40 for new buyers.

I believe I saw an interview where , FromSoft said it was all up to Sony on a sequel and other dealing with the game.

A "hit peice", that serious huh?..relax lol.

thorstein49d ago (Edited 49d ago )

Wow you seem angry. I responded to crash 2 days ago about the remaster and who did it.

Why do you care what other people think in a moment about some journalism. Calm down, buddy, it's just my opinion. From 3 days ago.

Edit: I just went back through my comments and found 2 where I call out the author in the past month. Wow, I'm a rageaholic.

It will be a launch title on PS6 just like the remake of Demon's Souls for PS5 launch

OhReginald50d ago

Sony realizes people will flock to buy ps6s for a bloodborne remake. Easy money.

jznrpg50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

Rumored it’s slated for PS6 launch. Some say PS5 Pro. Who knows ?

P_Bomb50d ago

Highly requested, unfortunately neglected.

jznrpg23d ago

Some say we didn’t need TLOU2 remake but that was a PS4 game and now we need a BB remake but that was a PS4 game. We send mixed signals
