It seems like the age of the big third party exclusive is as dead as the dinosaur. Shock, anger and despair rocked through the fanboy communities in the last generation as some iconic PlayStation franchises like Grand Theft Auto and Final Fantasy migrated to the Xbox 360, and, for the more protective elements of the PS2 fanbase, it was a dark time, watching one exclusive after another make the jump to the new kid on the block. By the time we got to the end of the last console generation, the conventional wisdom was “Third party exclusives no longer exist; only first party exclusives can really define a console’s library.”
The Souls-like genre remains popular, along with FromSoftware's classics there are many contenders. But which are the best Souls-like games?
Hmm... In my opinion, the 7 best are the 6 made by FromSoftware (DeS, DS1, DS2, DS3, BB and ER), then Lies of P. But each to their own.
Saad from eXputer: "Almost a decade later, it's time to take the nostalgia goggles off and accept that Bloodborne has long been surpassed by its successors."
Yes, yes it does. It’s still a great game. Elden Ring isn’t better just different and a bit easier . I like that you have to be aggressive but smart in Bloodborne
"Sony is missing out on a hugely profitable opportunity by ignoring fan demands for a Bloodborne remaster and PC port," says Ahmed from eXputer.
Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software. What missed opportunity? I am sure the people at From Software know what they are doing. Especially since they are hiring devs instead of laying them off.
Maybe do an article about that instead of writing a hit piece on them acting like they don't know how to run their business.
It will be a launch title on PS6 just like the remake of Demon's Souls for PS5 launch
I didn't think I was ever going to agree with a headline like that ... but, after watching the pre-TGS show and TGS itself, I'd have to wholeheartedly agree.
Hasn't this always been the deal with the PS consoles??
You damn right it is!
Edit: warning! the disagrees are approaching in full force!
Glad to hear it. I am really impressed by the support ps4 is getting.
Job well done Sony.
Last gen the Japanese developers placed all their bets on the Xbox360 & minus a few exceptions it wasn't a very wise decision on their part. The Japanese development situation was falling apart just like what Keiji Inafune was referring too long ago. It became stagnant, long development cycles, dated, & falling further behind western developers.
Slowly the Japanese developers are coming back to what they were in their hay days. The power & ease of development of the PS4 has given the Japanese developers that push they needed to find their form. As the life cycle of the PS4 grows so will the Japanese developers confidence to deliver unique gaming experiences that we are so accustomed too in the past.
