Hyrule Warriors Review | The Best Warriors Game Ever Made [Dealspwn]

Dealspwn: "Hyrule Warriors doesn't pretend to be anything that it isn't. It does exactly what it says on the tin, producing what is probably the best Warriors game to date, and doing so by taking many of the best aspects of The Legend of Zelda and successfully incorporating them into the classic 1-vs-1000 gameplay. The fan service is astonishing, the level of detail very welcome indeed, and the action can be truly satisfying, with the various bosses going a long way to making the repetitive action seem quite refreshing at times. A triumphant mash-up indeed."

This score and VideoGamer's score are exactly what I expected for this title. If it is somewhere between a 7 and an 8, I am going to be very pleased with this game. Looking forward to playing it with a friend as well.

I don't think it'll convert Warriors haters, but important to realise that the musou genre is as much about reading the battlefield and strategically going where one is needed along with 1-vs-1000 combat.

Either way, as a Zelda and Warriors fan, I've been absolutely loving it. The bosses really do add nice tempo changes to proceedings, and frankly the simple fact of being able to play as Zelda and Impa and Darunia and Midna is utterly glorious.

Reading the battlefield? Strategy? You mean push the X button as many times as possible.

FuzzyPixels3506d ago

No. The better musou titles manage to recreate the ebb and flow of large scale battles with constantly shifting objectives and points of interest - bosses/parameter shifts/reinforcements. This is something that Hyrule Warriors does very well, particularly in later levels and the Adventure Mode.

MSBAUSTX3506d ago

I havent played it yet but due to the bosses I believe this will feel more challenging than past warriors games. It is nice to see them throw in the creativity of boss battles in the LOZ style to make it feel more LOZ than warriors. The items and adventure mode are sure to help with the classic LOZ feel as well.

I am not as overly critical of games as most people. If a game has a level of entertainment that I enjoy playing regularly, then I am fine with that. I know this game will be one of those.

Yeah, dtoid gave this an 8.5, looking forward to playing with my dad, who hasn't been able to really get into a zelda game since ocarina and link to the past since the games have become somewhat convoluted.

Really good review! You can sense the love for both franchises within this review which makes me feel good about the overall score.

I'm very excited to pick my copy up and play this with my wife.

Once again, Good Job on the review!

See?? Realistic expectations/hype equals money well spent on a fun fan-service game. Bravo!!

Blues Cowboy3506d ago (Edited 3506d ago )

Whoa, surely not. Slow down. Don't you know that you have to spend $500 million and target 'mass appeal' to make a good game these days? :P

Nioh games definitely up there at the top alongside Ninja Gaiden BLK.

LoveSpuds464d ago

There is a decent fan base for the Nioh games, but still think they are criminally overlooked and under appreciated.

I just bought the PS5 collection to replay them again with all their DLC, a sweet collection for my games shelf for sure.

Yea, those gardens haven't been plowed in over 10 years now though. Imagine if they cultivated it, let it grow again.

Starman69464d ago

Amazing what ya can do with a samurai sword lol 🤣

tehpees3464d ago

The honourable mention though.

TheSenorCheese464d ago

originally it wasn't going to be included because of their take on Samus' character. But the gameplay's actually not bad.

Vits463d ago

Honestly, I don't know if we can even blame them for that take. Nintendo's Sakamoto was credited as the writer and from what we learned later with the Retro Studios interviews for the Prime series, Nintendo apparently never saw Samus as this stoic badass that most of the west imagined her as. Going as far as describing her as "motherly".

Ninja Gaiden was dope but I don't really care for alot of their games.

The cool thing about the PS2 chainsaw display was that there was a (kind-of) hidden compartment at the back which was the exact size to hold the PS2 steelbook.

darthv721151d ago

I have that controller but sadly I lost the main cord. And its not something that was anything close to being standard or easy to find.

PrimeVinister1150d ago

One of my friends had it back in the day and I had wondered alout why it had a detachable cord that you could lose.

My friend then said it was so they could manufacture the one unit and then fire its appropriate cord in the appropriate box.

But then we realised each version has a different socket on the unit itself - so there was zero point in it except for collectors to lose the cable.

You know the designers are on r/, gamecollecting, laughing away.

jamesclark19911150d ago

I kept my cord in the "hidden" little brown drawer on the base of the unit.
