It's so ridiculous that all these reviews are coming out before one of the games biggest features is even out, that being raids of course.

Goodness people, the games barely been out and all these reviews really seem to be jumping the gun a bit.

VoltySquirrel3509d ago

Yeah. How dare I review that game as it launched. It's only like that's the game people are currently paying money for. It's not like I'm not going to write an update to the review once the raids come out.

Oh wait. That's exactly what I'm going to be doing.

averagejoe263509d ago

Well it was made pretty clear by bungie that the game will evolve over months and have new concepts and events added... So yes it is kind of dumb to be giving the beginning of a game a low score

objdadon3509d ago

Well I'm over 60 hours into the game and still unlocking new things to do so there's no way in hell there can be an honest review so early!

Torque_CS_Lewith3509d ago (Edited 3509d ago )

So you want him to give the game as it is a high score because it might be better in the future? Are you even listening to yourself?
Games are and should be reviewed for what they offer now because gamers are buying and playing the game now.
What a ridiculous argument! Some Ps fans (I find that it is them mostly) are going way beyond the realm of logic to defend this game.

Vegamyster3509d ago

@averagejoe26

Then they should delay the game until more features are included, reviewers are not going to boost the score because it could potentially make the game better.

GodGinrai3508d ago (Edited 3508d ago )

I agree. Its a bit like saying dont review game "x" until all the DLC is out. So should reviewers have waited for the GOTY edition, in a years time to review this?

I like destiny, but seriously, people need to stop making excuses for how it has turned out. It is what it is.

Maybe not release it then if you dont want it to be reviewed as is.
What is wrong with reporting on the current state of the game? Also do you make this same complaint at all the 8's and 9's or is reviewing the game before raids an issue when the scores are low?

AutoCad3509d ago

exactly my point, whats the point of buying the game now if its not filled with that extra content..
at the state this game is in right now, its really not worth buying right now..The single player is like watching something on mute, even than you still have an idea of what is going on in terms of the story being told..

GrandpaSnake3509d ago

what are your top 3 favorite games?

AutoCad3509d ago

Hard to say..

Single player games

Uncharted
Halo
The last of us

Multiplayer games

Halo
Gears of War
Battlefield

coop games

Borderlands
Diablo

Torque_CS_Lewith3509d ago (Edited 3509d ago )

Battlefield Bad Company 2 (pre vietnam update)
Castlevania Lords of Shadow
Red Dead Redemption/Rayman Origins.
Mass Effect trilogy

KingKelloggTheWH3508d ago

When one of the game primary features is it's weekly content and of course its raids then I think the reviews should wait till they have actually played the entirety of the game.Or it least the majority, and of course I would call out any reviewers who dont play the majority or entirety of the game before reviewing it.

I dont think the game is perfect or anything I just think way to many reviewers are jumping the gun.

How dare a $60 game not be fun at the time of release...

I understand bungie has long term plans for this game, but the base package should be holding people over until that stuff drops. If that doesn't happen, people won't stick around for the things to come.

OpieWinston3509d ago

Let me break this down for you...

Crucible is horrible. It's literally the most poorly balanced PvP experience I've ever dealt with. (I expected it)

They even ruined Domination...They found a way to screw it up.

The games story is lacking, it doesn't explain a lot on the fantasy meets Sci-fi element of the Traveller in game.
Yes I get it's a service game but people are reviewing this GAME.

It has the same poor replay value as D3.
Just redoing missions at a tougher difficulty for the PvE element.

If the raids aren't at launch then reviewers shouldn't hold off for it. I'm excited for Raids myself.

Game has great Soundtrack(They fired their lead composer so it'll get bad in future installments)
The games story leaves us saying "What?" (Lead Writer left also, so the direction of the game is uncertain past expansions)
Game has a horrible PvP element
Game nailed PvE
Game has poor replay value in total
Game feels empty, Patrol missions are all similar and don't open up much of the worlds.
The servers are trash...The games servers are worse than EA servers. (Before you defend the servers...They invested $500 Million and servers weren't a priority for an Online only game? REALLY!)

I don't think so. As someone who loved most of Bungie's previous games (Marathon, Halo, Halo 3 ODST, Reach) I thought Destiny was pretty terrible, actually.

But that's just my opinion.

ITPython3508d ago

Love your use of the past tense "was", as if the game has been out for months. I bet you didn't even buy the game, let alone have beaten it and experienced the game as a whole.

And in the off-chance you did buy and beat the SP campaign, you should be aware that blowing through the campaign as fast as possible is NOT how you play/enjoy/experience a game like this. Heck, I've been playing 4-5 hours a night since the games release and I am only just finished the level 7 story last night. The story is only a TINY portion of what the game has to offer.

It's really sad all the people blindly hating on this game, either based on the beta, ignorance of the games genera and how it is supposed to be played, or believing click-bait reviewers who are likely butthurt they didn't get an early review copy, and had to get the game at the same time as the rest of us non-reviewer "peasants".

Tedakin3508d ago

Uh yeah that's how it is. Look how much games like Titanfall and Killer Instinct have evolved since day 1. Are they going back and updating their reviews considering both games are massively different and improved now? NOPE!

danny8183508d ago

Lmao dude are u serious or your kidding. They sold over $500 million dollars worth of hype for a $60 demo. Screw the new bungie

Ninver3509d ago

Not looking good at all. I'll wait for the goty edition with all dlc whenever the complete game is released.

paddy953509d ago (Edited 3509d ago )

Bungie lies. They just want your money with as little effort as possible.

kickerz3509d ago

I'm on the fence about buying destiny. Was definitely going to but after seeing all those 6,7 scores not sure if it's worth my $90. It is a shame

DeadlyOreo3508d ago

Don't let these 6's bother you. It is a great game, you'll enjoy it. Just watch a lot of videos if you're unsure but I feel like a load of these reviews are being incredibly harsh on Destiny. There's a lot of decent content for your money, far more than most games, and the fact is that games which are clearly a lot worse than Destiny have been rated much higher. Make your own opinion, don't listen to other people's.

thejigisup3508d ago (Edited 3508d ago )

Get it, reading reviews doesn't do the game justice and it has mmo elements so this truly is just a portion of the game. I'm having a great time playing and am excited to continue playing as the game grows. Many people are starting that the pvp is unbalanced I would have to disagree. Character class's operate differently as the should and should be played differently. Each class has a sub class so there is variety. I can understand why people don't like the story and I can only say that the story is lacking. Bungie won't get a passing grade from me as far as the story is concerned just yet but there is tons of room for growth and the game is reportedly going to be supported with new and fresh content for years to come. Definitely worth my money and as far as the end game goes it's fun leveling up to thirty, knowing very soon I'll be ready to tackle new content .

conanlifts3508d ago

Ignore the reviews. If you want a fast paced shooter that gives you the option of completing side missions, whenever you want, whilst having good fast paced story missions then it is a good game. The co-op multiplayer is great, but optional. Each planet has a strike mission, which is multiplayer only, but you get automatically matched with other players. I love this game. For me the only thing I dislike is the PvP, it has poor balancing. When I last tried I was level 12 and found myself againt players who were all level 20, with what looked like shields. It made it impossible for me to do anything against them before they killed me. But do not believe the bad reviews, its a great game.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter330d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell329d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig330d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast330d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g329d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka329d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

Father__Merrin329d ago

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai481d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface479d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard477d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
