There hardware components and architecture are very similar. Just that the PS4 has a superior graphics card and superior ram. Everything else is software. What ever the Xbone can do the PS4 can potentially do it better.

Ever since the consoles have been released Microsoft have done everything they can to make the Xbone the same as the PS4. From Price to policies to removing Kinnect. Now the Bone is just a poor imitation.

Why would anyone want a poor imitation when they can have the real thing?

Watercooler' I'm fairly certain the PS4 can't run background stuff at the same time. With x box 1 you play a game and use the internet at the same time or watching a video on twitch or do something else. The console allows you multitask and you don't have to shut down one thing to reach the other thing.

Microsoft will be first to show off the first cloud powered game on console. Sony hasn't the infrastructure in place to do the same thing. So just like x box live, Microsoft will be ahead of Sony with this too.

Microsoft has HDMI out can use your tv or pc while you game on x box 1.

Other than that both consoles are not that different from each other.

Both are good consoles, my advice is if you plan on getting an XBO get it during one of these promotions. If you have a MS store around you call and ask are they still doing the trade in Promotion (7/14/2014 - 12/31/14 but store can change dates).

Trade in your 360 (or PS3, but I don't recommend this with PS+), and save $100 off the XBO. Making it $299 w/o Kinect, and $399 w. Kinect.

They also have the current promotion of buy an XBO or XBO bundle, get 1 game free, and a $50 gift card / XBL points.

So if you combine both promotions you're getting:

$299 XBO bundle + 1 game + $50 gift card / XBL points. (Wii U price)
$399 XBO Kinect bundle + 1 game + $50 gift card / XBL points.

Both are great deals IMO

However, if you can't take advantage of the promotion in the MS store than I advise you to wait until Black Friday and see what sale comes, and if nothing just ask for a gift to your local store that sales the XBO, because if sales of the console aren't up consistently Jan - February, then the XBO is going to get a real price drop in March (tax season), and you should be able to buy a bundle for $329 - $349.

1. MS Store promotions, get it now
2. Wait until Black Friday
3. Wait until March - April for a real price drop

The PS4; however, you can get anytime. It's not going to have a price drop, because it's selling so well so you're just going to have to get it at $399 (although rarely I've seen $379). Wait until Black Friday if you can for a bundle, other than that it's not going down, until possibly holiday 2015.

@knws actually the ps4 can multi task. If you're playing a game and decide to watch something on Netflix or browse the Internet you can cus it suspends your game.

@thewatercooler Does the PS4 turn on your TV when you want to use it? Does it suspend/resume games? Will it give you a notification when your multiplayer game is ready to play? How bout threaded messages? DLNA support? Can you adjust your TV volume on you PS? Can you plug in an ext HD and run your games off of it?

The games look great on both consoles but it is the plethora of extra features that xboxone brings to the table that make it feel like a nextgen console to me

You're wrong. While a game is running, I can hit the "PS Button" and look at live PS4 streams. While i'm looking at streams, the game is still running in the background. Once i'm done watching a stream, checking out Amazon, or watching Crackle, all I have to do is hit the "PS Button" again, close the App I was running, select my game, and i'm back in the game, right where I left off.

I'm certain of one thing, you don't know what you're talking about.

Yes the PS4 can power a HDTV on/off when HDMI control is enabled from the settings menu.

What exactly is the use of having suspend/resume when you can pause a game? I'd say that's a useless function, like voice commands.

Xbox has some great franchises like Halo and Gears

PLAYSTATION has God of War and Uncharted.

I'd go a little further to say Playstation has better exclusive single player experiences while Xbox has better Exclusive multi-player.

Easy...it is all about preferences in games and services you like. Just like android phones are more powerful than the iphone but it is the ecosystem like ios, apps, and software that just work is why some people chooses Apple over Samsung. For me the constant updates to the OS and upcoming games like sunset overdrive, Horizon 2, Killer Instinct season 2, and MCC really is the deciding factor for me to choose the XB1 this year even though I'm a primary PC gamer.

Apple Specs may Seem lowly compared to Android (not just samesung) but its in the OS & Hardware working in Harmony...

iPhone Specs may suck compared to Quad/8 core processors, but they can still whip their arse in all general day to day tasks.

After all, A bit like PS4 and One... One or other has Better hardware, no doubt, but if they don't utilise it properly through software , whats the measured difference?

I have to disagree with this portion. DS4 is simply the best game controller ever made and it's also a lot more innovative than Xone. The speakers, improved gyroscopes, microphone jack on the controller, lightbar, touchpad, grips improved triggers, it's a very phenomenal game pad. While in some ways to me the xbox one controller feels downgraded from the 360's and hardly anyone uses an Xbox one controller on PC because Microsoft only just recently made the drivers available and not all games are compatible so that's a big fat lie. PC gamers are still using 360 controllers. Personally I prefer the 360 controllers over the XOne's as it has a more premium feel where XOne's feel cheap in comparison, however I do like the rumble motors.

PS4. Same online network in a man's experience (not literally but same quality), a man prefers PS4's operating system and UI and controller, don't care about EA access (suddenly EA isn't evil now that they have something exclusive to Xbox?), and Xbox does NOT have more first and 3rd party exclusives (PS4 has twice as many games out already lol). Also Quantic Dream. Also they have waaaaaaay more than those 2 studios (didn't even mention their most successful franchise in GT). Sorry this is hands down PS4 for a man but don't state your opinion as fact on things like controller, online, and operating system.

90% of the AAA I play are multiplateform. I chose PS4 because they have a ton of small indies comming out all the time to entertain me between the AAAs. I love to remote play on the vita and PS+ is amazing. I'm yet to find a reason to get an X1.

I chose Xbox One because I wanted to keep my gamearscore and most of my friends are on Xbox Live. I t also has the games I want like Halo, Gears of War, Fable, and Crackdown.

Every choice we make involves tradeoffs between one option over another. At least for me, the Xbox One offered more of the things I was looking for in a console and that's why I went with it over the PS4.

By the way, I would like to see more people upgrade their consoles to current-gen systems so we can finallly start moving forward instead of constantly looking in our back mirror to make sure no one is left behind.

I was always pro xbox... have 33k gamerscore while 480 trophys on my psn acc.

Right now i choosed the ps4 because my friends are playing diablo3 and destiny on.

The ps4 is in my eyes a huge step forward... cant believe how fast the OS runs compared to the ridiculous ps3 system... cant believe how many ppl bought a ps3 last gen if i compare the system to the 360.

The most ridiculous thing about the ps4 is the battery life of the ds4... 6 hours?? hello?? Sony forces ppl to buy a 2nd controller, i will buy my one by the end of this month.

Overall the ps4 is a great system with a great design.

Its a very easy decision. PS4 has the most first party studios, the best console version of multiplats, the most value in its online subscription, better hardware, smaller profile along with no power brick, and they didn't try to force force an always on camera and DRM down our throats.

Some mistakes in that article. Firstly not everyone prefers the xbox controller. I've got both consoles but definitely prefer the ds4. Secondly why didn't the journalist mention the fact that the ds4 can be used on a pc? Sure ya could use the ds4 on a pc before the x1 controller had the ability.
Oh and my psn and xbox live names are both razrye, that's for people that don't believe that I've got both.

My outlook on it is that I have an extremely powerful PC, so I'm not going for which is faster and has better graphics. I'm looking to get the most for my money. The issue at hand is, which exclusives do I want to play more? One one hand, you have the Halo games, which I love as well as several others. On the other, you have the Uncharted series and several others, which I am interested in, just haven't played. I am also unsure which of my friends have which console (military, so I don't get to talk to them often). Tough decision, but I have until the end of the year to decide so I get the best deal I can get. Eventually I want to have both though.

For now, there is no reason to own an Xbox One. However, game like QUANTUM BREAK gets me excited.

What matters actually is the overall experience. That includes gameplay, graphics and story.

Multiplayer-only games like DESTINY and THE DIVISION should not include single-player experience, I guess. So, story does not matter.
