Will GTA V Flop On PS4 and Xbox One?

By now you must know that GTA V is headed for a November 18th release on next-gen consoles but how will it sell?

GTA and flop do not belong in the same sentence. This game will definitely sell a decent amount for some us of starved PS4 and Xbox1 owners.

Of course not, but I guess define "flop?" Will it sell even half as well as it did last November, no, but outside of COD and Halo, GTA carries a lot of "mainstream" weight for a lot of dads and moms buying Christmas gifts. They'll have no idea that's a remaster but recognize the GTA title, much like a Mario are COD game, and know that their kid(s) probably will want it. I can almost guarantee GTA will be the 2nd or 3rd highest selling game of November.

It can't flop if there's relatively no hype. GTA5 is a top 10 game of last gen and I have no intentions of playing the remaster.

Even though it is one of my favourite franchises I deliberately avoided GTA V when it was released last year because I strongly suspected there would be a next-gen version. I waited and I was right!

The new-gen trailer looks phenomenal and the fact that the footage was taken directly from the PlayStation 4 edition reassures me about the quality and the graphical leap from last-gen.

The Last of Us Remastered demonstrated that a HD remake that is more than just an up-res, and done right will sell. Of course GTA V wont match last-gen sales figures because the install base of PS4 and of course XBO is smaller, but it will still probably be one of the best selling new-gen games of November.

Guaranteed it will sell more than the Last of Us Remastered, probably not the Master Chief Collection though. Definitely won't be a flop.

when you think about it is GTAV really a remaster ? if thats the case is COD Advanced Warfare a remaster as its on last gen as well.

just look at Minecraft that game is on every console imaginable and its still selling well on next gen. i doubt they would release it in a busy month especially with a game like COD if they thought it would flop. if you think GTAV is going to flop on next gen then your just stupid. if it was ever going to flop it was back before 2 months before next gen releases and it still managed to sell 34 million. GTA V next gen will sell well until the next GTA game is released.

Advanced Warfare is a simultaneous release on all platforms.

GTA is always one of the highest selling games on whatever platform it releases on. GTA will never, ever flop. One of the biggest and most successful franchises in gaming history.

This game might be one of the top grossing current gen game this year when it is all said and done. No chance it will flop...as it will score great and people from last gen might be looking to trade in their x360/ps3 version to upgrade. But I will be waiting for the PC version though. mod baby!!

You have seen the combined sales of the series? I know it may seem hard to think that after already having what 25 million copies sold they wouldn't be able to shift any more. All I'm saying is don't bet on it, this game will get to number no shadow of a doubt. Regardless I'll be buying it again. Not even finished the campaign on the last one (got about 10-15 missions left) but I'll get there other things have jumped up the queue (games that I can sell once I've finished, GTA isn't one of these games it's a keeper for sure) and as it's that good I have absolutely buying this new edition let's face it from everything shown so far and the article the other day from behind closed doors. This is by no means a lazy port and I'll have no problems going through the first half of this again and putting the time in it deserves. Rockstar don't make turds. Even Table tennis was epic.

No because both PS4's and X1's library aren't great especially with Destiny being a disappointment, GTAV will sell well.

This gen however still feels like it's just about remastering last gen games. I hope this changes.

It could flop. There is a lot of games out in November so people will have to pick and choose which games they buy.

i Wouldn't be surprised if GTA is the biggest selling next gen game so far especially after that turd game Watch Dogs people are ready to replay GTAV. it will sell 2 million minimum in the first week. you can quote me on that.

I agree. GTA will sell very well, but I don't know how many people will want to pay full price for the same game twice and GTA sold a hell of a lot the first time around. Not with so many new games comming out. It's not like The Last Of Us when a lot of people didn't play it lasg gen because they where on Xbox. GTA5 will sell a lot more on PC, but new gen consoles it will just be OK.

If no deals are made at retail it could sell like mad again especially since it comes with more than the previous game . I say it sale numbers will match the consoles out for it . But flopping no chance in hell not a GTA titles.

even if it sells just 200 copies the overall game has sold 34 million copies. how is 34 million copies a flop ? they made all their money back on GTA V on preorders alone on release day. any extra sales is a bonus.

I skip it this year because November is so packed with Games like COD, Halo, PES 15, Project Cars, Far Cry 4 etc. Who is going to Play all this? By the Screenshot it looks remarkable but they still don't talk about Heist or Story DLC so this is basically a cash grab and not a fan service. And as a PC Gamer I would feel shitted on.

This is an interesting situation. Compared to other recent remasters, gtav already has a much larger install base. With TLOU and Tomb Raider, there were a lot if folks playing for the first time. With gtav most current gen owners have likely already played.

So the question is, will people buy it twice? While I do want to experience the online with more players and bug free, I feel no need to play the single player again. With so many new games coming out, I won't have the $ to spend on this rerelease.

I think it will sell a few million copies, but won't have the attach rate of the last gen version. But that isn't a flop.

Not having a go here mate. But or course it won't have the attach rate of the PS3/360. Considering the PS3 version almost sold 18 million and the 360 selling just over 14 million (according to lolchartz).

The PS4 and Xbox One only have a little over 15million console sales between them. PC will sell a few million but not enough to get anywhere near the 360/ps3 sales.

this game will do ok, regardless. if the games between now and november aren't all that great, then this game will do better. if those games are good, then the people that have already played it might not bother with it for the time being, but it will still sell pretty well.

I know for me personally I can only talk myself into it at launch if there is a good trade in deal to upgrade to ps4 version. Although out of all the remasters this seems to be the most deserving of my money. It looks great.

With so much coming out October and November I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a little time to gain momentum. I told myself I can only buy 3. With Christmas and everything it's hard, but as of right now it's going to be bayonetta 2, cod aw, (because I ran out of decent shooters), and super smash bros. I know I won't regret those 3. Really want alien isolation tho, and the evil within.

Damn it's gonna be hard to choose, but as of right now gta is 5th or 6th in line and I don't see the top 3 losing their spot

I traded in my PS3 copy for the PS4 version and I'm sure there will be others like me who want to experience GTAV on current gen with better graphics etc.
