Shouldn't there be an if (or better yet a might) instead of the will in the title. The developer doesn't even sound sure. He said "If the API improves, and developer’s accessibility towards graphic pipeline increases, more technical features can be applied. After all, it will add more richness to the screen.”. It sounds like he hasn't even seen anything of it yet and doesn't know the true benefits of used DirectX 12

4Sh0w3527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

Not really surely a seasoned dev can look a tech spec's and say IF this works like that, I WILL be able to do more of this.

I mean his comment about the API improving accessibility towards the graphic pipeline seems pretty straight forward, in fact it seems like he is taking the right approach which is not confirming DX12 on paper technical merits, he's simply saying *IF they do turn out to be true then he will be able to add "more richness to the screen".

donthate3527d ago

A lot of times, the way the API is architecture makes a huge difference in your ability to do things.

That is why you have different programming languages. Some languages express things easier.

A seasoned developer can glance and tell.

It's like DriveClub had issues with the way they initially designed it, and therefore had to re-architect the internals. This was hinted at by Shu as one of the issues.

never fails ps fanboys trolling other platform articles.

CaptainObvious8783527d ago

Unlike ms fanboys that are completely mature and respectful about their opponents.

Oh wait.

Eddie201013526d ago

@iamsuperman

You are absolutely correct, yet you get a lot of disagrees from people who can't read or comprehend what the developer said.

I guess certain people will accept anything when they are desperate.

What does 'more richness' look like on screen? Does my current screen have 'richness'? How can I tell if it does?

donthate3527d ago

This is a Korean developer, where English isn't obviously as common over there, but isn't it obvious he means better graphics in some way?

4Sh0w3527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

Well its sort of a given in "dev talk" that "more richness" means better detail in some areas like GRAPHICS with better textures, EFFECTS like volumetric smoke and dynamic lighting, ARTISTIC DETAILS like a varied color palette and character differentiation, ENVIRONMENTAL DETAIL like grass and vegetation that reacts to wind and player movement, rain, snow, etc. There are other attributes as well but yeah by more richness he means at least 1 or more of these things.

DougLord3527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

Sony trolls do not understand anything other than 1080p and 60fps. Anything else like model polygon complexity, texture quality, physics, number of images on screen, depth of field, lighting and shadows. Or fun factor, compelling story, memorable characters, revolutionary game play features. None of that matters compared to 960p vs 1080p.

DigitalRaptor3526d ago

@ DougLord

Except ALL of those things you listed are a given and have always been used at the discretion of the developer.

1080p/60fps is a standard that should be expected of this generation of hardware, and I think you are being disingenuous by summing up a fanbase who want what has been promised. It's not like a fanbase that claims not to care about the numbers, except when they see any game that runs at the next-gen standard on their console of choice.
-----

BTW: "number of images on screen"

How is that any different to number of PIXELS on screen i.e. resolution?

HanzoHattori3527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

No one knows what effect DX12 will have on gaming software and no one will know until it's actually released. These articles about the benefits of clouds, dedicated servers, and DX12 are all based on what ifs and maybes. The only people who do know for certain what these things will do is Microsoft because I assume they are testing DX12 before it's released. Microsoft has never said anything definitive about DX12 and I don't expect that they ever will say anything substantial about DX12 or anything else that they are developing.

radler3527d ago

B-b-but... the secret sauce!!

The power of the cloud ended up being a big fat lie, and now you want to take away the mystical hope of DX12 as well? But what will people cling to for hope then?!

3527d ago
hello123527d ago

How is the cloud a big fat lie when Microsoft has already announced a game in development that is using the cloud? Crackdown not exist to you or something?

We have never seen a game using the cloud for game physics. If they are successful they've freed up resources and the devs can do more things with the game. The future is coming and Microsoft will be ahead of the game.

Directx11 doesn't optimise cores efficiently.

DirectX 12 features improve CPU utilisation with the workload able to be spread across multiple cores - effectively halving the load of DirectX 11.

But the x box 1 does have cores and it is using directx11 so you are going to see an improvement with directx12. The performance gains can be answered at this time. But you will see an improvement.

Directx11 is an API from 2009. You really think a new API will change nothing and the x box 1 will not perform better?

Breakman923527d ago

OMG SERIOUSLY are you guys not tired of the fanboyism? Just play your prefered console already and stop bitching about other consoles for fucks sake.

BG115793527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

Well at E3 2013 they announced that all games would be 1080 60fps.
They said DRM was here to stay because it couldn't be removed from the system.
They said that Kinect was integrated to the system and impossible to be removed from it.
Phil recently said that frame-rate was more important than resolution.

Microsoft says a lot of things. Azure and the Cloud have to prove themselves.

strangeaeon3526d ago

Nice job parrot, now take a time out and come back with an original thought.

That's not true at all.

MSFT has said the core benefits many times...

(ClOUD)
-MSFT said they will *provision the -CPU- and storage equivalent of three Xbox One consoles in the cloud* The Japanese staff and media talk about the CPU allocation more than anybody so expect them to go big.(tech demo showing one of the things Azure can do, that was actually a game)

(DX12)
-Will allow for shared work with all CPU cores , the XB1 only uses one for most of the work. (tech demo shown to thousands of people and hundreds of devs at the event.

As if MSFT is going to reveal features and specs to the public just so internet fanboys can try to spin them apart. Things like I said above and "hardware based tiled resources" is all average gamers need to know.

HanzoHattori3527d ago

The DX12 description is vague and ambiguous. As I have stated previously, no one will know what effect DX12 will have on gaming SOFTWARE until it is actually implemented.

strangeaeon3526d ago

That is the most fair and rational comment ever posted about DX12 on this site, wish more gamers had your attitude.

We have Drive Club though.

Ryan7413527d ago

Its going to be the best driving game ever made and exclusively on PlayStation 4 this fall.

GodGinrai3527d ago

LMAO!!

You have a good sense of humour. Might be taken the wrong way around here though.

I'm shocked it's coming to the Xbox consoles, just seems a waste or money and time for little in return.

Vits123d ago

Well, you shouldn't. Black Desert is already available on the Xbox One, and thanks to Microsoft's streamlined game SKU management, it's highly probable that the developers simply have to press a button to make it a native port. The one that will need more time and money is the Playstation version, that will likely need a completely new SKU for the native version to work.

gold_drake123d ago

sounds like advertisement haha.

Vits123d ago

@gold_drake

Only the reality, unfortunately. Sony did an excellent job on the PS5 software, but they didn't put the same effort into the PSN. The way the system handles licenses is terrible.

OneLove123d ago

😂 it's been on the Xbox for a good while now

I heard this game is a pop-in simulator.
