The gamescom PS4 Bloodborne Gameplay Trailer should have been named 'System Seller Trailer'

GameZone: "Thanks to Sony’s press conference at gamescom, we have a brand new trailer for From Software’s newest title, Bloodborne. My extreme bias for this game is at an unhealthy drool level. For someone who swore he wouldn’t buy a next-gen console, this game is easily a system seller for me. There is no way I’ll just sit idly and watch others tear into this beauty day one – no sir. The mere fact that this new footage is a gameplay trailer is like an answer to my prayers."

When he transformed his 'saw' into a scythe my mouth dropped, Amazing!

thekhurg3535d ago

It sure as hell looked awesome, and I can't wait to see some more direct feed gameplay.

I'm also glad to see they're opening up the game to a wider audience by not making it a grind like the Demon/Dark Souls games.

CalibriSerif3535d ago

i know right. this is really beautiful.

i also hope Sony will buy the rights of Nightmare Creatures from Activision and do a remake for it.

I dunno if you still remember that game.

Sharius3535d ago

after seeing this, i want to know other transform too, it's f***ing cool

N83535d ago

I said ,bad ass out loud when that happened.

Enemy3535d ago

Bloodborne has been THE talk of the new generation. The Souls series has quickly become one of the most popular new franchises in gaming, and Bloodborne is shaping up to be the best game of Miyazaki's career. No surprise to see so many people worshipping the game. I also know plenty of Xbox fanboys that are still hurt over it being PS4 exclusive.

guitarded773535d ago

Yeah, I think the existence of this game is being downplayed. I keep hear some BS about PS4 just being about indies when there are epic games like this on the horizon. Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Drive Club, The Order 1886, LBP 3, Tearaway... just to names some, and we don't even know what Sony Santa Monica, Japan Studios and Guerrilla Games has up their sleeves. It may be kinda stagnant for exclusive AAA's at the moment, but it's gonna get hell busy... just like it did on the PS3. Bloodborne just looks f#@king fantastic... so dark, but also so pretty. The artists are FromSoftware are some sick (in a good way) individuals. I have the art books for Demon's Souls and Dark Souls... crazy stuff.

FamilyGuy3534d ago

That giant, hairy monster was the huge "Oh sh..." moment for me. The game looks incredible, so dark and twisted, and even the weapon is so fitting with the theme. Definitely a system seller, but there are a stack of games worth buying a PS4 for, that's one of the biggest reasons why it's continuing to sell so well.

"Greatness Awaits", so true.

boing13534d ago

@CalibriSerif

The Order is pretty close to Nightmare Creatures IMO. I'll take it.

bouzebbal3534d ago

that's true. that game is more than a must have.

The Order
Bloodborne
Tearaway
Uncharted 4

i'm done!

Feralkitsune3534d ago

Reminded me of the Switch Axe in Monster hunter,

iDadio3534d ago

Despite the other heavy hitters due in 2015 I honestly believe this will be my favorite.

Of course being a souls fan (platinum'd all 3) makes me bias but this is shaping up fantastically.

It's going to give more people a reason to get a PS4 when it releases, but then again every game feels like it's a system seller for the PS4 because the console is breaking sales records left and right

SmielmaN3535d ago

You know, I have seen all the article for this game over the last while but never looked into because I didn't get into demon souls. But, I watched that trailer and just realized that is a Sony Japan Studio game and I was a huge fan of their work on PS3 and they made me get into games I never thought I would. Incredible art styles come out of their work and now this officially on my radar.

I can't believe Japan Studio is making a game like this. This could be huge for them.

MysticStrummer3535d ago

Yeah I saw the headline and thought the same could be said about several trailers. PS4 has so much greatness incoming.

sprinterboy3535d ago (Edited 3535d ago )

Didn't mean to disagree

@dark

geddesmond3534d ago

Yeah this game looks way too good, my only fear is the scythe/ gun combo. The combos great but does that mean we won't get other weapons and is armour gone from the game. One of the best replay aspects of Demon Souls and Dark souls was the different armour and weapons you could get.

DarkOcelet3534d ago

I am sure you will ,and that scythe looks badass :)

nypifisel3534d ago

Confirmed that armour and weaponsystem works like souls games, i.e you can outfit and arm yourself with what works best for you, it's part of the strategic element in souls games so.

geddesmond3533d ago

@Nypifisel

Well if it's confirmed then my excitement for this game has just gone through the roof and this is gonna be my reason for gaming next year.

meh it's all about personal preference... i'm not particularly loving it at the moment, i recognize it's got the potential (and some already say) it's a great game but for me it's still a meh really

could change when it comes out though and i might be all over it

colonel1793535d ago

Agreed on personal preference. I know it's a great game, and it does look great, but I won't be buying it, and I definitely wouldn't buy a PS4 for it.

FOR ME, Uncharted is a system seller, and if I didn't have a PS4 already, I would run to buy one to play Uncharted 4. For other people might be Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, who knows?

So yes, the game looks good, and hopefully it proves to be as good as it looks, and get all the praise it deserves, but being a system seller, that's personal preference.

Jughead34163535d ago (Edited 3535d ago )

Have you played the Souls series at all? According to people who've played this game, it's definately another Souls game with faster combat and far better graphics and atmosphere. If you enjoy the Souls games, then this one should no doubt be a system seller.

rdgneoz33535d ago

As long as it doesn't have a Blight town, I will be happy. The FPS there alone gave me nightmares...

levian3535d ago

I haven't liked any of the forms of Blight Town in any of the Souls games. I mean as far as level design goes it's great, but god it's nerve wracking. And yea that FPS was crazy, I swear it got down to around 10 FPS or less at times

Jughead34163535d ago

@rdgneoz3 - Blight Town was probably the best level I've ever played that gave me that sense of dreadfulness and despair. It was so hopeless to make it through that level, and then to top it off with a ridiculously difficult boss fight with Queen Qualaag. The FPS did suck, but I was so immersed into that level, that I didn't care.

VJGenova3535d ago

@levian and rdgneoz3

Playing Dark Souls on a PC = FPS problem solved.

This game looks incredible. I just may buy a PS4 next year. I bought a PS3 just for Demon's souls so it only seems fitting that I'd do the same for this.

DigitalRaptor3535d ago

Sorry but yes.

Demon's Souls had a cult following that grew once Dark Souls came out. From Software is now a big name in hardcore gaming, and Bloodborne is not only going to be a big exclusive on the most popular next-gen console, but a game that tons of people are frothing at the mouth to play regardless of what console it's on.

Thus, a system seller.

Revengeance3535d ago

I see you're butthurt because it outclasses anything on Xbone.

pwnsause_returns3535d ago

No means yes, and it seems like you never played a souls game before.

A friend of mine stopped playing on his 360 for months because of demons souls.

Teddy-Duchamp3534d ago

Got to admit, I stopped playing my ps3 for many weeks to get my Alan Wake fix when it came out, and currently the last Xbox game I played.

Farmassy3535d ago

I have to agree with polow

This is not really a system seller. The game has a cool look to it but it doesn't really interest me.

Uncharted is what will make me eventually get a ps4

Gh05t3534d ago

This is the first game that makes me wish I owned a PS4.

I am a PC and X1 gamer and this game is seriously making me consider buying a PS4 (Could care less about uncharted games). I am really excited about the future this generation. I have been very frustrated with the current offering but the future looks bright and I will have to pick up a PS4 and WiiU too when I get the liquid income to do it.

I am happy about the offerings of every system in the short future. Next year I will be broke all year.

Ocsta3534d ago

You must hate good games then. How's that Kim Kardashian mobile game working out for ya? Having fun?

although I really want this game I don't see it as a system seller

Benjammin253535d ago

...What? That's like me saying " Although I really want to make out with that girl, I don't think she's good looking."

VJGenova3535d ago

Sometimes you just want to mack ... maybe she has a nice ass and you thought you could cop a feel at the same time despite her butterface?

DanteVFenris6663535d ago

I feel sorry to say this but I agree with you Genova haha

Gh05t3534d ago

I agree but its more along the lines of "although I really want to make out with that girl, its not worth taking her to dinner and a movie to do it."

Disclaimer: I disagree and think this game looks amazing and is the game that is seriously pushing me towards a PS4 (PC and X1 gamer). I would take the girl out!

equal_youth3535d ago

this will definitely kick some ps4 over the shelves. a few friends of my are waiting just for that game to release also we don't know much about the mp through.

The 7 Best Souls-Like Games - Mastering the Challenge

The Souls-like genre remains popular, along with FromSoftware's classics there are many contenders. But which are the best Souls-like games?

toxic-inferno16d ago

Hmm... In my opinion, the 7 best are the 6 made by FromSoftware (DeS, DS1, DS2, DS3, BB and ER), then Lies of P. But each to their own.

kevco3316d ago

Still DS1? You don't feel it's been surpassed yet?

Demon's Souls has the remake of course, but DS1 has surely been outdated?

Smellsforfree16d ago

I think that the DS1 remake is better looking than DS2. The interior lighting matched with the low resolution textures in DS2 is very garish, IMO.

Besides graphics, what do you mean by DS1 being "outdated"? I'm someone who played through Elden Ring and just recently played through the DS series, and as far as gameplay went, there were all very similar.

Cacabunga16d ago

I haven’t played many but Bloodborne and NIOH1 are on top of my list.. had a blast with these 2

toxic-inferno16d ago

For world design and interconnectedness (that's a word, right?) DS1 is yet to be beaten.

9 Years Later, Does Bloodborne Deserve All The Praise It Gets?

Saad from eXputer: "Almost a decade later, it's time to take the nostalgia goggles off and accept that Bloodborne has long been surpassed by its successors."

jznrpg18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Yes, yes it does. It’s still a great game. Elden Ring isn’t better just different and a bit easier . I like that you have to be aggressive but smart in Bloodborne

thorstein18d ago

I literally replayed it recently and it's better than I remember. I think it's like going back to a beloved book and noticing things I hadn't before.

raWfodog18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Yo! I was getting ready to reply with the exact same four words you started with lol. Yes, I think Bloodborne has withstood the test of time and remains a great game. That’s why all the fans are hoping for a sequel someday. Hoping that we can catch that magic again with a new storyline.

Leeroyw18d ago

Yes. Just replayed it a few days ago. My first Platinum. And yes. I rage quitted so many times and called it BS too when I started. It's tight. The combat is amazing and the lore is rich.

GamingSinceForever17d ago

Elden Ring was easier? I don’t know about that at all. I remember leveling up in Bloodborne and breezing through it. In Elden Ring no matter how powerful I got I was still catching a beat down from every boss.

thorstein17d ago

That's due to scaling enemies. I remember not doing Haligtree untill near the end and having enemies withstand almost a full blast from Azur's Glintstone Staff Comet Azure. My level was quite high.

Melee characters are not fun in that game, especially for the Elden Beast.

MeteorPanda18d ago

Considering l did a run 2 months ago? Yes.

Bloodborne's Potential Remaster Continues To Be Sony's Biggest Missed Opportunity

"Sony is missing out on a hugely profitable opportunity by ignoring fan demands for a Bloodborne remaster and PC port," says Ahmed from eXputer.

thorstein46d ago (Edited 46d ago )

Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software. What missed opportunity? I am sure the people at From Software know what they are doing. Especially since they are hiring devs instead of laying them off.

Maybe do an article about that instead of writing a hit piece on them acting like they don't know how to run their business.

46d ago
-Foxtrot46d ago (Edited 46d ago )

To be fair Hidetaka Miyazaki said in an interview

“Unfortunately, and I’ve said this in other interviews, it’s not in my place to talk about Bloodborne specifically. We simply don’t own the IP at FromSoftware.”

So the ball kind of is in Sonys court, it feels like a missed opportunity because it’s something people really want and Sony just hasn’t really been bothered to get it off the ground. There was rumours it was at one point but it all went silent.

Cacabunga44d ago (Edited 44d ago )

Sony has been missing nothing but opportunities for a few years now.. since GOW release, it’s worrying silence we’ve been getting..

As for Bloodborne, imo it would be too soon to release it because PS4 game still looks phenomenal..

Bloodborne REMAKE I think will be PS6 launch title by Bluepoint. I truly hope so! 2 gens later we can get the same wow effect as Demons Souls.

Eonjay44d ago

He is right because it is Sonys IP but a little further back he also explained that they only work on one game at a time. This means that From must also be available. In other words it could already be in the pipeline. Ecen if that is the case, it's still up to Sony to reveal it when they are ready. As ever, I prefer not to hear about it until it's about 3 to 6 months from releasing.

CrashMania46d ago (Edited 46d ago )

'Bloodborne came out on the PS4. It is owned by From Software'

Actually Sony owns the IP, same with Demon's Souls. I think they'd prefer if From did the work on any future of both of those though, but if Sony wanted to they could have those off to anyone else to work on them, like the DS remake.

thorstein46d ago (Edited 46d ago )

Yeah. Thanks for the info.

But I still think that remasters should wait a generation. And Blue Point did Demon's Souls which was superb.

It can be a huge risk. And I think Hidetaka Miyazaki hinted that it would be a PS6 title. I don't he has no say in what happens, it's a partnership.

--Onilink--45d ago

To be honest, if there is a remake/remaster (not that it needs one) I would prefer someone else to handle it, like they did with Demon Souls

From many perspectives From Soft is an amazing developer, BUT, on a technical level they are far from impressive, both in terms of dated visuals (again, on a technical level, not art/design) and usually poor performance.

And what is the point of a remake/remaster if not to provide a visual and performance enhancement to a game that already nailed the rest?

Michiel198944d ago

@thorstein what huge risk? Part of one of the most well known ip's in gaming nowadays, there's not much risk there when it comes to a remake.

thorstein44d ago

@Michiel

I meant remasters in general are a huge risk, not Bloodborne.

Bloodborne isn't, but I think it's going to be on PS6, like how Demon's Souls went from PS3 to PS5.

Sorry for the confusion.

thesoftware73045d ago (Edited 45d ago )

Thorstein,

Wow, your post seems angry..relax it's an opinion.

And btw, it is on Sony, they have the exclusive right to the game, on top of that, they could have easily, at bare minimum, offered an official 60fps patch, with a few extras and charged people $10 to upgrade or $30-40 for new buyers.

I believe I saw an interview where , FromSoft said it was all up to Sony on a sequel and other dealing with the game.

A "hit peice", that serious huh?..relax lol.

thorstein44d ago (Edited 44d ago )

Wow you seem angry. I responded to crash 2 days ago about the remaster and who did it.

Why do you care what other people think in a moment about some journalism. Calm down, buddy, it's just my opinion. From 3 days ago.

Edit: I just went back through my comments and found 2 where I call out the author in the past month. Wow, I'm a rageaholic.
