Is the PlayStation 4 Totally Worth Owning Now

In a span of a few months, Sony's PlayStation 4 will be celebrating its first anniversary. Upon launch, gamers would debate on either buying one or holding off for better titles. Is it fair to say that this could be the best time to jump into the new ‘current-gen’ hardware?

Hmmm if I write no, I will get marked as trolling.

If I say yes, people will say that I am lying.

Such a big debate.

OT: the PlayStation has been worth owning since day one. Same as the Xbox One. For those of us who own both consoles... And appreciate gaming as well as fun features as well as great multiplayer experiences.

Lol at all the disagrees and at EZZ

I own 2 games for my PS4, and 10 for my Xbox One, so I'd say no. It will turn to a yes the day media functionality is restored to the PS4. That is what I used most on my PS3, and bought the PS4 figuring all that functionality and more would be in it, which isn't the case... yet.

Either make a kick ass SOCOM, or give the original 3 games a spectacular remaster. It's really the only franchise I care about on Playstation, and its good enough franchise I'd buy the system just to play it, that is why I bought a PS3. (Though turned out SOCOM on the PS3 was very underwhelming compared to PS2 SOCOM.)

And how bout you pull some shenanigans Sony and make a wired X1 controller work on the PS4.

Benjammin253546d ago

XBLSkull Pray tell what 10 Xbox one games do you have? To have that many you must own a few multiplats on the Xbox. They perform better on PS4 so why are you playing them on the Xbox? Do you prefer the controller? Or maybe more of your 'friends' game on it? Or maybe you're just a troll who never owned a PS4 to begin with.

FamilyGuy3546d ago

Too funny, lmao.

The PS4 was "totally worth owning" on the day of its release. The combination of new games, prettier games, free to play games and sharing features all made it worth owning right away to me.

ZodTheRipper3546d ago

If you have a last-gen console and you want to play the upcoming cross-gen titles (Far Cry 4, Witcher 3, Dying Light, etc.) you should seriously think about upgrading... the games cost the same but the difference between PS3 and PS4 version is huge.

Also if you are interested in Bloodborne, The Order 1886 or Uncharted 4 you'll need a PS4 anyway eventually. I can understand people who are waiting for all those "true next-gen" games but my PS4 was already worth it and it's only going to get better.

yes I am very happy with my ps4 , I play games just about everyday I have a nice game library .

Lord_Sloth3546d ago

Warframe has given me more than enough value from my PS4 since it launched.

@mrpsychoticstalker

***"Hmmm if I write no, I will get marked as trolling.

If I say yes, people will say that I am lying."***

And you have no one, but yourself to blame for that. Don't cry and whine that people don't know if your stealth trolling or being serious or being sarcastic or being sincere after you suddenly decide to drop your history of trolling.

As far as the topic is concerned, it isn't rocket science. If you have the money and like the current game lineup then get it. If not, then look to get it at a later date. Given that consoles have a good amount in length in life cycles you don't have to rush out and own one right now.

"Both of us who own both consoles"

LMFAO!!

Bro, seriously, you need help! 😂😂😂

Fullmetalevolust3546d ago

I don't even own a PS4 yet, but I have to say yes.

There are a lot of games that I "purchased" via Psplus and a few I'd want to buy when I get a ps4.
Gamescon and TGS will just confirm my opinion!

Hellsvacancy3546d ago

I've not got a PS4 yet either dude, it's missing RPGs, Bloodborne and the Withcer 3 is what i'm painstakingly waiting for

@stalker

another bs comment from one of the best bs commenter aka the xboxleech reporter (stalker)

edit: also funny but you gotta stop saying "i own both consoles" because you dont. LOL

what a tryhard xbox troll.

joab7773546d ago (Edited 3546d ago )

What difference does it make? It is, has, and will b worth owning for the entertainment and price. The only question should be, "Can I afford it now?".

Rimeskeem3546d ago

Why don't you just say what you wanna say?

ziggurcat3546d ago

@mrpsychoticstalker:

"For those of us who own both consoles..."

you don't own both consoles:

http://n4g.com/comments/red...

so quit lying.

there's no debate here - you saying no would be trolling because of your comment history, and you saying yes would be lying because (again) of your comment history.

OT:

it's always worth it, in my opinion to buy early, but i can certainly see the advantages of waiting a little while before jumping into a new system (bigger game library, inevitable hardware/software price drop, improved/new OS features, etc...)

lelo3546d ago

At this moment none of the home consoles are worth owning... except, maybe, if you like Nintendo's library of games, the WiiU.

Most people are buying new consoles simply because last gen took way too long and they were fed up with old consoles and wanted something new.

ShaunCameron3545d ago

The 7th gen took too long due to the amount of time it took Sony and Microsoft to break even on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Magicite3545d ago

wow, for once U said somethin reasonable.

I think Playstation 4 will be a must have after TGS (Hyping myself up for a possible The Last Guardian re-reveal, or a unlikely next gen Monster Hunter) lol

98xpresent3546d ago

What kinda question is that ? There is so many games to play on the ps4 .

MRMagoo1233546d ago

Yup , it was worth it from day one imo ,I had it paid for Waaaaaaaaay before the release date and don't feel money was wasted.

ZodTheRipper3546d ago

The thing is, it didn't really drop in price since launch... you still have to pay around 400 bucks so I don't regret buying it Day1 at all - I got at least 250 hours of gaming out of it already and I'm looking forward to the next few months when my real 'must-haves' drop.

Chuk53546d ago

I never played last of us.
After beating it on PS4, that is a system seller for people who have yet to play it. A Modern Classic.

rainslacker3546d ago (Edited 3546d ago )

No doubt. I decided to take the plunge on TLOUR despite saying I'd wait for a price drop. Decided last night to play it an hour before bed and played all the way until you get to Philadelphia(About 4-5 hours in). lol. Overslept this morning and was almost late for work. I always knew it was a great game, but was reminded why last night.

Otherwise, OT to the article.

I am actually playing my PS3 more lately trying to catch up on my backlog. I'll opt for the PS4 version of a cross-gen game of course, but just too much good content in the last year on PS3 to really ignore it. PS4 is worth owning, as it's relatively inexpensive with plenty of good games to choose from, but overall, one wouldn't be missing a whole lot if they waited a bit longer...same goes for X1, to be fair.

ShaqSoda3546d ago

I would say yes now. This fall is when the new consoles should have released.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos4h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto3h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger882h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).
