Is the PlayStation 4 Totally Worth Owning Now

In a span of a few months, Sony's PlayStation 4 will be celebrating its first anniversary. Upon launch, gamers would debate on either buying one or holding off for better titles. Is it fair to say that this could be the best time to jump into the new ‘current-gen’ hardware?

OT: the PlayStation has been worth owning since day one. Same as the Xbox One. For those of us who own both consoles... And appreciate gaming as well as fun features as well as great multiplayer experiences.

I own 2 games for my PS4, and 10 for my Xbox One, so I'd say no. It will turn to a yes the day media functionality is restored to the PS4. That is what I used most on my PS3, and bought the PS4 figuring all that functionality and more would be in it, which isn't the case... yet.

Either make a kick ass SOCOM, or give the original 3 games a spectacular remaster. It's really the only franchise I care about on Playstation, and its good enough franchise I'd buy the system just to play it, that is why I bought a PS3. (Though turned out SOCOM on the PS3 was very underwhelming compared to PS2 SOCOM.)

And how bout you pull some shenanigans Sony and make a wired X1 controller work on the PS4.

XBLSkull Pray tell what 10 Xbox one games do you have? To have that many you must own a few multiplats on the Xbox. They perform better on PS4 so why are you playing them on the Xbox? The PS4 was "totally worth owning" on the day of its release. The combination of new games, prettier games, free to play games and sharing features all made it worth owning right away to me.

If you have a last-gen console and you want to play the upcoming cross-gen titles (Far Cry 4, Witcher 3, Dying Light, etc.) you should seriously think about upgrading... the games cost the same but the difference between PS3 and PS4 version is huge.

Also if you are interested in Bloodborne, The Order 1886 or Uncharted 4 you'll need a PS4 anyway eventually. I can understand people who are waiting for all those "true next-gen" games but my PS4 was already worth it and it's only going to get better.

As far as the topic is concerned, it isn't rocket science. If you have the money and like the current game lineup then get it. If not, then look to get it at a later date. Given that consoles have a good amount in length in life cycles you don't have to rush out and own one right now.

Most people are buying new consoles simply because last gen took way too long and they were fed up with old consoles and wanted something new.

No doubt. I decided to take the plunge on TLOUR despite saying I'd wait for a price drop. Decided last night to play it an hour before bed and played all the way until you get to Philadelphia(About 4-5 hours in). lol. Overslept this morning and was almost late for work. I always knew it was a great game, but was reminded why last night.

I am actually playing my PS3 more lately trying to catch up on my backlog. I'll opt for the PS4 version of a cross-gen game of course, but just too much good content in the last year on PS3 to really ignore it. PS4 is worth owning, as it's relatively inexpensive with plenty of good games to choose from, but overall, one wouldn't be missing a whole lot if they waited a bit longer...same goes for X1, to be fair.

For me it's great that I have it. Even though there are no games RIGHT NOW that I want to play, I know that next year is full of them, and it's just the beginning.

A console is worth owning when you know you are going to enjoy the games that will come to the console.

I would say it is up to the individual to decide. Me, I already have a Xbox One and totally don't think I will miss much from the PS4 because the exclusives on that system just doesn't excite me much at this point. Maybe when Uncharted 4 gets release next year then I might consider getting one but not at this point.

If you don't have a gaming console, ill say yes the ps4 is a great console and has very good games like infamous ss, knack( underrated game), last of us remastered, resogun. If you already own a last gen console ill say wait for the blockbuster games to come out like uncharted 4, mgs 5, the divison, rainbox six.

If you are a ps3 or 360 owner and you are looking to buy AC5, Farcry 4, or any other cross Gen game this holiday, I say buy the PS4 and so you cam play the current Gen versions of those games.

That is if you are excited about UC4, The Order,no Man's Sky, or Bloodborne. I don't see the point of waiting for those games to come out before buying if you are already looking to buy. Since there are plenty of games coming this fall that will have the better version on current Gen consoles.

To me the reason to own a specific console is to get the best performance. Sure, exclusives arw great and all, but there are very few exclusives when compared with the amount of cross-plat games.

The vast majority of games any console user will play are cross-plat games, so why would anyone not get the console those games all perform the best on?

That was what I based my determination on when deciding which console to buy. I couldn't care less about exclusives because both consoles have great exclusives. Sure, i'll miss Halo, but I just gained TLOU, God of War, and Uncharted.

I only just got mine a couple of weeks ago. I already had about 14 games from ps plus lined up and I bought a couple of retail games too. Really enjoying local co-op with Towerfall and Resogun, remote playing Lego Marvel and Mercenary Kings, and playing Blacklight online. Overall, it's been a lot of fun, so no complaints from me.

I can see upgrading from ps3 to ps4 a lot faster then 360 to X1... Cause the 360 is the choice of online play with friends, n until all friends get the X1 you bout have to stay with 360, the ps3 online sucked so bad a lot of Sony fan was crying for something new, the numbers shows that most ps3 owners jump on the ps4... Heck I could name easily 30 gamers that's still playing 360 waiting on all to go to the X1.... I think it will be a real race when all does..

I really don't get the argument that you should wait and buy a console when there is finally a large library of games on it. I think if you are going to get in eventually you should just get it right away and enjoy it earlier. But if you are one of those people who want a large library prior to purchasing, PS4 has been really lacking in the game department. Looking forward to LBP though and Garden Warfare is great.

Because they aren't too many games(if any at all) to guarantee a pjrchase and tbe gfx isn't at it peak yet. Can't say either of the consoles are totally worth the upgrade yet, if anything you should get a PS4 or XB1 around Christmas, next year is the year to own either of them.

All of the big games come out next year, and these remasters aren't why you you'd buy either for, so yeah, I could have lived without my PS4 until next year.
