Damn this footage is nice, and all fandoms have to agree wholeheartily or somewhat!

XiRockLee3559d ago

I agree , that resolution definitely deserves awards!

Nice, I'm going to enjoy playing the Halo franchise, especially 1 and 2 all over again with my daughter.

Ironically the Destiny Beta only reminded me how much I missed those early years of playing Halo online with my bro's. Oh not that Destiny was bad in anyway, it just didn't "wow" me in anyway either like I expected for a new IP, its a deep game as far as the rpg-style stuff goes but I'm really wondering where's the quality online competitive gameplay??? The whole online structure feels like an empty shell of what Bungie is capable of. Well again its only a beta so it's other modes may be much better for release.

It's amazing what their doing with this HaloMCC, if only they could "remaster" those insane alcoholic, smoke filled gaming parties I had back then too, lol my wife wouldn't like it though.

HammadTheBeast3559d ago

@NaughtyDogs

The misplaced commas in both comments gives it away.

Spinal3559d ago

The Halo Master Chief collection is the only game that makes me look at the Xbone. But Destiny will fulfil those Halo needs on my PS4.

Destiny beta has been so amazing i cant wait for release. Im addicted!!! Collectors edition INC!

OC_MurphysLaw3559d ago

I know Halo sir, Destiny is no Halo.

All kidding aside, Destiny is definitely going to be great fun.

Nicxel3559d ago

Destiny has been fun on my Xbox ONE. I had a beta code for my PS3 yet it looked like GARBAGE on last gen haha.

Anyways, PvE doesn't seem like it will hold my attention for a long time, unlike PvP (Halo). I have a feeling once I complete the co-op missions/story, things will get repetitive real fast for me.

Still, this beta has convinced me to at least buy the game haha.

Gozer3558d ago (Edited 3558d ago )

Bungie is using the same gameplay formula in Destiny that they used in Halo. Jump, grenade, melee, special power, and weapon fire. But judging from the Destiny beta, the Crucible is no Halo MP. The controls aren't as fluid, and you die/kill instantly when you make contact. One of the great things about Halo MP is that you have a fighting chance when you make contact. The only instant kills that can happen in Halo require some skill(aside from the rocket launcher). Not saying that Bungie cant correct Destinys weak PvP before launch. I hope they do anyway, because I intend to buy Destiny.

kahjah3559d ago

I'm super excited for it after seeing that footage.

tgunzz3559d ago

I am so stoked as well!! For those who have not had the luxury of playing the Holy Grail of scifi shooters here is your chance... That switching between two engine feature is insane!!! 343 this is why I feel halo 5 is in amazing hands, and will absolutely be mega!!! This, Halo 5 beta in december, plus Halo Nightfall. I do feel fortunate indeed...

The_Blue3559d ago

Makes me lean towards grabbing a Xbone even more.

Snookies123559d ago (Edited 3559d ago )

Looks really good! I just wish it was a direct feed so we could really see the quality. Regardless, I love the fact that they let you switch between old and new versions of the game on the fly. Always thought that was a cool feature in the first Halo Anniversary.

GamingSinceThe80s3559d ago

It would be nice if they could add that switch thing to the first game also.Oh and this is a stick up give up some of those bubbles and nobody gets hurt!lol But rely how did you get 10 bubbles?I have stayed at 3 since I started commenting. And have no idea how it works.Do agrees and disagrees play any role in it or just the plus minus thing?I have wanted to bubble vote for people but wasn't sure if that means I am giving them one of mine.Any of your infinite knowledge on the subject would be appreciated oh great one.

Snookies123559d ago (Edited 3559d ago )

People have just liked my comments over the years I suppose, lol. If someone likes your comment, they can give it a plus bubble. You need a certain amount of people to do that in order to gain another one. On the other hand, if people think your comment is trolling or rude, they can try to get a bubble removed. You don't lose any of your bubbles for bubble voting on someone else's comment though.

Just something to note however, N4G has stated that it intends to get rid of the bubble system at some point. :]

Randostar3559d ago

This makes me want to buy a Xbox One.
God, soooo many great memories of mine are linked to Halo 2 on xbox live.
I would play through the campaign on the original graphics first just for nostalgia.

MazzingerZ3559d ago (Edited 3559d ago )

Yeah, it's all about Halo 2 for me too, that's the hook and it works I guess :-)...1,3,4 won't suffer radical upgrades but rather standard, they are already in HD.

It's just a pitty Bungie is not longer working together with MSFT, we could insted had gotten a remake, Bungie could have had the chance to deliver the Halo 2 experience promised by that infamous E3 demo...now with X1 they could have include all the stuff they wanted then...

I love Halo but 460 USD for H2 it's a litte to much...maybe one day when it has more games I like.

It would had been cool if they allowed you to play H2 MP a week or so with your old rank and statistics, imagine jumping into MP and seeing your last match, commendations and so on...that would had been awesome

LAWSON723559d ago

Halo 1 Anniversary and 3 are both sub 720p I would not call that HD. Halo 4 was the first Halo to run at 720p

Hercules1893559d ago

343 has said that the E3 demo is a complete broken mess if you dont play it exactly like they did. They had a long thought about it and decided that it wouldnt be worth it and bungie would do the same.

MazzingerZ3559d ago

@Hercules189

343 is not Bungie, Bungie accepted after some years that the the demo at E3 used an engine that was never possible to be run on the original xbox... so they scrapped it and started from scratch, tried to catch up with development which resulted in rushing Halo 2 to the market...

I always wondered what that Option to play co-op with a friend was doing there if it couldn't be used...how rushed it was that they couldn't even remove that option from the UI...or maybe it was their way to protest against being forced to release it in that way...

They never finished Halo 2 so the other part was released later on as Halo 3, that was the reason for that annoying Halo 2 cliffhanger.

@LAWSON72
Yeah, I hear what you are saying but what I mean that the only real news here is Halo 2, the proof is that all MCC news are around Halo 2.

Halo 3 is still recent for me and can't say it looked terrible (rather awesome taking into account the flawless 4p co-op) or that I'm dying to play it...played it to death with every friend that needed certain achievements... it won't look like a whole new game (it's even just getting an standard upgrade, no extra special visual treatment as Halo CE and now H2 is getting)

Just my humble opinion, had already a X1 today I would purchase it only for H2 without hesitation

LAWSON723559d ago (Edited 3559d ago )

@mazinger

You are right about Halo 3 that game still looks solid and Halo 4 is probably the best looking game on 360, though I personally like the look of Halo 3 better. Simply stating the facts that there is only one HD (720p) Halo. I personally want the MCC for the matchmaking with all the games in it. To go from Blood Bulge in Halo 1 to a match on Halo 3s Sandtrap just sounds so epic, much more so then high resolutions and new textures, though 60 FPS got me excited

MazzingerZ3558d ago

@LAWSON72
That's pretty awesome and a dream come true, agree!

I was leaning towards getting one for Forza 2 but I won't be able to resist the master chief collection. I will have to get one for that..can't resist.

ChrisW3559d ago (Edited 3559d ago )

Halo 1 online was absolutely awesome for me. All that you needed was an ad hoc unauthorized server via PC and to tell people to not rush the count!

When Halo 2 came out; we were happy with the authorized servers, but overall it didn't have that certain feeling that only Halo 1 veterans know.

HugoDrax3559d ago

Yeah I know what you're talking about. We use to play halo 1 online by connecting it through the PC. I think the service we would connect through was GAMESPY? I was the man in HALO 1, and it was the first and only time I actually competed in the MLG circuit. Oh the memories :-)...

Why The Game Industry Needs In-Person Shows Despite The End Of E3

Skewed and Reviewed kick off 2024 with a look at the need for in-person game conventions with the End of E3 and compares the cost-cutting methods of Hollywood who still value in-person events.

gold_drake113d ago

so, this article didnt tell me why we NEED to have in-person shows like e3, other than the authors nostalgia and remembrance of covering one of these shows.

but it also doesnt mention everyone outside of america who have never had the chance to see it in person either haha
we had to watch the darn livestream, if they had it available, at 3am in the morning haha with lags amd crashes (not all the time)

while i think these shows are great and all, i dont really "need" to have them. people are busy, im busy. id rather watch a livestream than to book a flight, a hotel etc.

but theres still pax and all of that.

Garethvk113d ago (Edited 113d ago )

I did mention that you cannot have hands-on and meetings with key people and the excitement. Europe has Gamescom and had Paris Games Week and N.A
Needs an industry event again.

A Livestream does not even come close to what was lost. I much prefer seeing and playing the games in person and asking questions to developers and marketing people versus watching talking heads doing shtick on a scripted showcase with a carefully edited video.

gold_drake113d ago

"need" is a strong word for it, imo.

"good to have it" would be a better way to describe it.

and sure, gamescom is in se germanland, paris week in .. paris.

most people dont rly care for it anymore. they either tune in to a livestream or vod or read about it online.

but opinions are opinions. if u think we Need them, then there ya go.

Garethvk113d ago

I think the industry needs them. The rank and file public not as much but our coverage is greatly limited via livestreams compared to what it was to say nothing of streams. Hands on previews Re very limited as well as we used to play big games months before release.

ApocalypseShadow113d ago (Edited 113d ago )

I get what you're saying. In person is always preferable with a hands on. Because there are those like myself that like to try before buying. That likes physical mostly over digital.

But having said that, I think it's more *your personal need* than a need for the industry itself. You need to be the middleman giving your point of view, possibly your own personal bias or subjectivity or objectivity to the equation. *We* as gamers don't actually NEED it. We can come to the same conclusions, positive or negative about a game as you can.

Companies like Sony or Nintendo used to sit back and watch others give their take on things that were negative to the message or had an agenda. Especially during the PS3 era of website bias, swag bags, advertising hand shakes, biased video, free laptops, etc.

Companies like Sony took the reigns and decided to let their base see for themselves what the games look like, than through the eyes of some journalists, bloggers and vloggers looking to cash in on click bait and advertising.

Delivering their message directly to the consumer killed a lot of that nonsense. You see the developers, you see the game, and in many cases, you can speak to these developers on discord than worrying about some article's take on something.

It's not that I want you to become obsolete. But for some, I'm glad it killed their business practices. Also, we live in an era where these games could be streamed directly to the consumers after the presentation from Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft that gives that hands on of a game. They just have to implement that technology and make it high quality without latency. And *WE* as gamers can speak to each other on a preferred media platform and give our opinions on the gameplay we just experienced. Many journalists have not been fully honest on games before release because they fear losing their backstage pass and free gifts. We would know just by playing if a game is something we want. Remote play is possible now without lines, without expensive trips, etc.

To close, Sony has sold mostly 50 million PS5 consoles, over 110 million PS4 consoles and Nintendo has sold over 120 million consoles without a journalist take. They delivered their message and it's still reaching the consumers they are targeting without spending the millions of dollars on in person setup at a venue

I get what you're saying. I lived through the whole era when E3 was created and watched. But I don't need it and never been to one. And really don't need a journalist to tell me what to like or dislike.

EvertonFC113d ago

The ques for 1 game were 4 hours long for the most part, that's NOT fun.

S2Killinit113d ago

The problem with live shows was that it became all smoke and mirrors and a show of things not related to gaming. Therefore I would argue that it added a new layer of cost to the game developers and console holders that necessarily will need to made up for. Either we the consumer have to pay for that cost or the developer/manufacturer will have to bear the cost thereby taking away from profits leading to smaller studios dying out.

Remember xbox buying celebrities to make appearances? Thats a good example of unnecessary cost.

JackBNimble113d ago

You don't need to go to the movies either, you can sit on your ass and watch any number of streams but that doesn't make it any better then actually going out.

This generation has become so spoiled and lazy.

gold_drake113d ago

booking a flight and a hotel aint the same as going to the movies, but pop off i guess ha.

Garethvk113d ago

Streaming cannot replace the communal experience of event films.

EvertonFC113d ago (Edited 113d ago )

Actually it does, for one it's cheaper eating my own snacks at home than over priced pi** take cinema prices. 2 it's About £150 to take the family to the cinema or £15 for a new cinema release and watch at home on my awesome 4k TV.
3 We can pause the film when needed, sit in the warmth of our home and have no di*kheads talking through the movie.
That's called using your brain, not being lazy or spoiled dude.

TheColbertinator113d ago

I'd rather publishers send out closed betas to garner gamer concern and interest like how we had demos back in the day.

I don't miss E3 as much as I loved it at one point but that era is long gone.

Garethvk113d ago

There is a need but refinement was and is needed.

Zenzuu113d ago

Sad to see it go. It was a great event for gamers and developers all around the world getting together and celebrate gaming as a community.

The announcements of new games/hardware, hype, surprises and seeing live audience reactions, it's something only events like E3 are able to bring. It will be missed...

hombreacabado113d ago

if its going to be anything like the game awards where celebrities that dont even play games are there and its just full of fluff and commercial crap than no we dont need in person shows. we just end up watching the trailer montages the next day anyway.

Shiro173113d ago

To be honest E3 was one of my favorite times of the years when I was younger. I couldn't wait for all the big conferences and new announcements. It was hype even if nothing good was announced we had cringe moments to laugh at.

DivineHand125254d ago

With the release date being just a little over a week away, it may not be a good idea to burn yourself out on mech games until then.

Surprised that the article didn’t mention Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries if we’re talking about mech-related games.

ZeekQuattro253d ago

It was an odd article imo. Like why are games that feature a handful of mech themed levels in there. When I think of mech games I don't think Halo and Wolfenstein no matter how fun those levels were.

Best Xbox Game Studios Franchises

These are some of the best and most popular video game franchises now owned by Xbox Game Studios and Microsoft.

gamefreaks365.com
Sciurus_vulgaris263d ago (Edited 263d ago )

Microsoft was involved with Halo, Gears, Forza, Ori, Flight Simulator and Fable from early development, I will give them credit for those franchises. Fallout, Elder Scrolls and Doom were established franchise before being acquired by MS.

Crows90263d ago (Edited 263d ago )

Exactly. They had nothing to do with their most popular franchises now.

Their old franchises are dwindling and pretty much non-existent.

They've had perfect dark in the chamber this whole time and haven't done squat...that tells you the kind of company they are. Fable is another franchise that's been destroyed and ignored...let's see how the new game turns out.

Profchaos262d ago

Yeah perfect dark, banjo conquer ms seems to kill more franchises then they like to admit while pretending to care about others like hexen

Sitdown263d ago

Given the article specifically says "now owned", what made you feel the need to do a break down?

thesoftware730262d ago

Sit-down,

Because it's N4G and any opportunity to shit on MS is never missed.

Rude-ro262d ago

Gears is not.
It was the same as mass effect:
Just contracted.

closed_account263d ago (Edited 263d ago )

Ah yes, feels like forever ago since Microsoft created Skyrim. So much so, I had actually forgotten they had created it and the other Elder Scrolls games! 🤔

*They really shaped my preteen years w the original Doom too!

ocelot07263d ago

Don't forget the original Elder Scrolls way back in 1994 or fallout in 1997.

Sitdown260d ago

So you don't understand the combination of "now owned"?

Crows90263d ago (Edited 263d ago )

I fully expect all these popular franchises to be killed off by Microsoft. Just a matter of time.

Unless they take a huge distance approach which pretty much means they don't ba e anything to do with the games being made ...in that case the franchises should be fine. But then...they shouldn't really get credit.

DOMination-263d ago

"I fully expect all these popular franchises to be killed off by Microsoft. Just a matter of time."

Based on what?? Microsoft usually gets stick for releasing too MANY games in their franchises, to the point where it's quite a long-running joke - one I'm sure you've partaken in before.

Pretty much all of their major IP has had releases in the last five years or have upcoming releases scheduled so I see no evidence whatsoever for this claim.

"Unless they take a huge distance approach which pretty much means they don't ba e anything to do with the games being made"

But.. They HAVE been very hands-off for a long time and have drawn lots of criticism for it?

fr0sty262d ago

See: All of Rare's games

DOMination-262d ago

I really wouldn't say that MS have let Rare franchises die. They've just had the freedom to create new IP in Sea of Thieves and Everwild. MS are currently developing a Perfect Dark game, licensed Killer Instinct out, Rare themselves released several compilations and several Banjo games as well as PDZ in the past.

I'm not sure what else you could want. They can only make one game at a time. You can't say MS let all their franchises die but also be annoyed that they allow their studios to make new IP.

Profchaos262d ago

If that's the case where my banjo or conquer sequel why didn't I get sunset overdrive 2 oh yeah not enough bro in those games

ChasterMies263d ago (Edited 263d ago )

EA is a good example of what can happen to a franchise when a larger corporation buys up studios from a smaller corporation. Quarterly earnings should never matter more than quality.

wiz7191262d ago

@Crows that is the case , Zenimax is operating independently of MS and have full creative freedom to do what they want. Zenimax games aren’t being published under XGS ,

ravens52263d ago

Soon Microsoft will be known for making Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Candy Crush, Call of Duty etc. Lmao they know what they're doing. Especially with the archiving issue the gaming industry has.

closed_account263d ago (Edited 263d ago )

Microsoft built the game industry. Microsoft invented games. Didn't you know? ;)

**What a bizzaro world we live in where the losers can become the winners overnight.

Hypertension140262d ago

@ravens52

What are those franchises you're talking about?
Activision/Blizzard only makes Call of Duty and Bethesda has Elder Scrolls and Starfield only, stop making it seen that is much more anti competitive/consumer than it actually is.......

Profchaos262d ago

Zero creative vision and the ability to bankroll it by purchasing everything that everyone else had success with even Halo wasn't technically theirs Bungie had to sell it to them to become independent

Atari6052B262d ago

You mean any studio Microsoft could acquire to flog last gen games on game pass ... What happened to HD-DVD that Microsoft pushed so hard ...
