Really depends.
I love next gen for the quality of the tech.. Super Fast UI ..No load screens and great online network stability

For these reasons I say yes its worth the upgrade

Chuk53561d ago

Yup.

I think Destiny is the best time this year to make the leap, because after destiny there will be even more cross gen games that simply falter on old gen like DA:Inquisition, Shadow of Mordor, Far Cry 4, Advanced Warfare, etc.

XB1_PS43561d ago

This video does no justice to current gen hardware. We're looking at a video with one viewpoint. If you sit down and play both, It's hands down worth it to upgrade.

@XB1_PS4

"This video does no justice to current gen hardware. We're looking at a video with one viewpoint. If you sit down and play both, It's hands down worth it to upgrade"

The magic words right there, the smoothness in the new gen is far better in performance then that of last gen, I'd suggest for those who want the game and don't own a new gen, to wait it out and save up a bit.

Muerte24943560d ago

The question is it worth ($400)Xbox One purchase? Yes, if you're getting rid of you Xbox360 and your library of games. No, if you're just going to buy the Xbox One outright for Destiny.

BattleAxe3560d ago

After playing the PS3 beta for a few nights, I can say that honestly, no, the next gen upgrade is not worth it. Bungie has done such a great job on the PS3 version of the game, that everyone I talk to who has played it on the PS3 has loved it. I'm sure it will be no different on the 360.

Also, if you're a 360 owner, you get to play Titanfall, Watch_Dogs, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Destiny, GTS5 BF4, CoD: Advanced Warfare, Far Cry 4 ect...ect... so as far as I'm concerned, it's not worth it at this point in time to buy a new console.

No load screens? I'm pretty sure the Xbox One version will have load screens. Also, I'm sure the network will be just fine on the 360 version.

PONTIAC08G8GT3560d ago

I don't think any 1 game is worth buying a new system for unless it's exclusive to either the X1 or PS4. Like if you were a diehard racer and you wanted Forza 5, had to buy next gen. I don't think Titanfall was a must own on X1 cause you could get it on X360. The game to me is a must own but didnt necessarily mean you had to have an X1. I think Desinty is the same way. Buy a system for ALL that the system does.

AngelicIceDiamond3561d ago

Just by watching that the X1 version looks much better than the 360 version.

NatureOfLogic_3561d ago

Not really. Imo It's definitely not worth the upgrade. The game is not really graphically impressive.

Ares84HU3561d ago

You obviously haven't seen the game on a next gen system than. It looked pretty impressive to me.

afterMoth3561d ago

At least the people who forgot to put their glasses on are consistent. They can't see the difference between the PS4 and Xbox One and they can't see the difference between the Xbox One to 360.

Kiwi663561d ago

So does that apply to the ps4 version seeing as you say "the game is not really graphically impressive "

ThanatosDMC3561d ago

It really isnt graphically amazing on the PS4 but then again i expected more.

PONTIAC08G8GT3560d ago

I've got to agree. I'm playing on X1 right now and the graphics aren't mind blowing. To me, graphics aren't all that important as long as the gameplay is there and it's fun. I don't think Titanfall was visually impressive but I love playing it. But I really don't think Destiny is "next gen" looking. Better then 360? Yes. I've watched The Division gameplay a bunch of times and that looks next gen to me. All matter of opinion though.

I consider Destiny an 8th gen game, not a 7th. To me, PS3 and 360 versions don't exist.

Also, everyone and their mums are doing comparison videos of starring at the wall in the game.. ????

Clown_Syndr0me3561d ago

I really think its not. Ive only played the beta on my PS4, havent bothered with it on X1. The game is very mediocre IMO, I wouldnt upgrade consoles for it.
However I would (and have) upgraded my consoles for lots of other reasons.

Artista 3561d ago

is there any game you actually like? ^_^

Drekken3561d ago

He has clowns syndrome. Be happy he can even type to us.

Clown_Syndr0me3561d ago

Haha yeah, I think Wolfenstein is the most underhyped game this gen so far, its pure gold IMO.
I like most games I play, I just have alot of criticisms as well. I don't dislike Destiny, I just don't think its anything special.

Funantic13560d ago

Destiny does suck...not the worst but not the best.

dmeador3561d ago

Its definitely is worth the jump to THIS gen. Played the beta on my PS3 and liked it, but was really wondering if I wanted to drop the $60 for it. Then I played it on my X1, and knew I'd pull the trigger.

Much improved.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter330d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell329d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig330d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast329d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g329d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka329d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai480d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface479d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard477d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
