Survey: Chinese Gamers Want PS4 More Than XB1

A two weeks long survey from China shows that Chinese gamers are vastly more interested in PlayStation 4 than Xbox One.

If the ps4 vastly outsells the xbox one in china, apart from the fact that there is going to be a total meltdown here on n4g, I think that will be a serious wake up call to microsoft as to their fate for the rest of this gen.

I could be very wrong on this but I think microsoft is going to abandon the xbox one very early in this gen like they did with the original xbox. Whether or not people want to admit it, the xbox one is greatly under performing based on their expectations.

A defeat in china, which could end up being one of the biggest markets in the world, would be devastating if they had hopes of gaining sales through that market. The xbox one is going to have to sell extremely well there in order for them to hold on to it for long.

This is that same survey that was posted in the bottom of a ps4 article. Pretty much the survey is heavily skewed. The good news is that we get to find out in September which is favored. There was a survey released talking about chinese gamers being online gamers, well guess who has Azure servers in China, that would be MSFT. Also XB1 is more know to be the console for online gaming. Lastly consider that the biggest game maker already has 3 launch titles ready for XB1.

I'm positive a survey posted in the bottom of an OXM article would favor XB1, while and survey posted in the bottom of dualshockers would heavily favor ps4.

Personally I don't know, or care, who will do better in China... However I will say this is a repreat story where 6000 people voted from a gaming population of over 350 million, that would get laughed out of even the most amatuar research group.

A 0.0017% representation is seriously laughable, from this statistical evidence I can confidently assert the conclusion drew from these results is generalised false pseudo science.

I commend truefans ability to provoke.. It's not trolling (derailing), it's not personal attacks, it's always an opinion or rebuttal which is consequently savaged with personal attacks. The irony being, intellectually truefan wins every time as a result of this.

6000 of 350 million doesn't make the stats irrelevant at all. It's not about proportion if you have a sample size that can convey an accurate mean.

More importantly is the region, demographic, etc of the group surveyed.

1. had the survey been in favour of xbox, you would have made some remark to the effect of MS winning the generation.... but because the survey favours PS4, it's skewed? your logic is a little off there...

2. just because a lot of the chinese game online doesn't automatically mean that they'll lean towards xbox. your opinion of the two online networks has no bearing on their purchasing habits.

The survey itself was conducted by a website called NetEase. It's a news portal similar to N4G, but more generalized to all news, and not just technology or gaming.

Care to retort or retract your statement, since the survey wasn't conducted on a Playstation specific site?

Just because the survey was reposted on a PS specific website doesn't mean that the survey itself was skewed...although with most web surveys, it's probably not 100% accurate.

Once again, you are the easiest troll on here to refute, as the claims you make generally are easily contradicted within the article itself...so no Google'ing necessary. :)

Now the survey is complete, so the article can be resubmitted.

I come on here to read news, and stupid stuff it seems. I comment on things I feel the need to comment on no matter what console. If an article catches my eye....... I comment. I owned a 3DO. It was actually a good console, it was way more powerful than the competition at the time. But it of course didn't have 3'rd party support. And initially it was really expensive.

I have fond memories of my 3DO! Naughty Dog's first title was published on that platform (the Mortak Kombat clone "Way of the Warrior"! Mediocre fighter...but hey, it has a White Zombie soundtrack!) Star Control II (the best version, at least until the "Ur-Quan Masters" versions came out), Another World (Out of this World in the US...they didn't want to be confused with a Soap Opera, apparently)...Road Rash (again, best version out there!!), and Super Street Fighter 2 (best version available at the time!)...oh, and the best version of Madden available at the time too!

Yeah, it cost me a kidney and half of my liver (joking!), but man, I got good mileage out of it.

1% of China's population is already more than 13,500,000 people. And you clearly know nothing about China. Chinese people are only getting richer and their purchasing power is higher than ever. They might not all be able to afford a PS4 but they are definitely more than 1%.

The survey comes out similar to the ones that were taken over here, and the results in sales after release of said consoles reflect a similar result. If you ignore the initial one where PS4 was over 80% after the X1 reveal. The rest were similar to this though.

It's one thing to downplay results, but when actual sales reflect those results, is it out of the realm of possibility that the same thing can happen in China.

One thing to keep in mind, around the world, people are more similar than they are different.

So you're saying across the world MS only commands 11% of the market? Current estimates Put the PS4 at around 8.7m units, the X1 at 5m, and the wii U at 6.7m. Do the math and you will find that you have no idea what you're talking about.

in case you can't that means the X1 commands almost 25% of the total hardware market (not including handhelds)

No, I'm saying the results of this survey are similar to the ones that were going around before the release of the two systems last year. Actual market share is not as drastic as the survey may suggest, but if you go by recent history, one should expect similar results come release in China. Assuming all other things are equal of course.

I am going to laugh when all of these "Tier 2" countries finally get an Xbox One launch...and it doesn't move the needed AT ALL!
