'Uncharted' Trilogy Remastered is Possible

It’s no secret that the Uncharted series is one of Sony’s brightest stars, with each title receiving plenty of positive recognition and even more awards. With the latest Uncharted slated for a PS4 release, many gamers may get the urge to play some of the older titles from the series – and it would be even better if they could do it all on PS4. Such a feat isn’t off the cards either, especially since Naughty Dog has experience with remastering PS3 games for the PS4, with The Last Of Us ready to launch next week on the next generation platform. In fact, this week the developer talked about the possibility of it happening for the Uncharted series.

I'd buy that. As sick of remasters as I am.

amiga-man3562d ago (Edited 3562d ago )

There are a lot of 360 owners that have switched to the PS4 and missed out on Uncharted who would be happy to see that happen, not to mention the PS3 owners

Playstation 4: The Ps3 You Forgot to Buy

incredibleMULK3562d ago (Edited 3562d ago )

agreed, even though uncharted and last of us are already hd. I do want uncharted 2 with normal trigges and not the horrible r1 and L1 buttons. I wont buy last of us, uncharted 3 or 1 cuz 1 had no multiplayer and part 3 had aiming problems, and inferior textures(not including the uncharted 2 map remakes). plus part 2 was cool playing as cole mcgrath, zeke, chimera and original helghast (not power ranger helghast). Controls were better in part 2, part 3 felt like it was trying too hard to be like cod in the upgrades and perks dept.

This is why i like pc......I DON'T HAVE TO REBUY ALL MY GAMES TO PLAY IT. Sony is milking us way too much. We should get a big price break if we own the original. Or do like call of duty ghost $10 upgrade and use ps3 disk.

I want infamous for ps 4 and gears collection on xb1. forza collection too.

I laugh at all the people who are complaining about remasters. The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD, was something many Nintendo fans were looking forward to. Halo: Master Chief Collection is something many XBO gamers are looking forward to.

But once again hypocrisy strikes, because so many of you seem to have a problem with The Last of Us Remaster, which thus far is the only PlayStation exclusive remaster produced by Sony on the PS4.

If you don't like it, don't buy it and go about your merry / trollish way.

The reason these remasters are happening is, because the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 in NA by nearly 20 million units. The PS4 is now the go to console for NA, so it only makes sense to port these games over to the console so those potential 20 million gamers who may be on the fence, or switching to PS4 can pick up on all the major exclusives they missed out, but more specifically those that are continuations of PS4 franchises.

You don't have to have played any previous games in a franchise before you jump in, so new gamers can jump right into Uncharted 4. But it makes more sense to have played, experienced, and become familiar with the cast and franchise by playing the other games first.

And for those that have played it already, if you do want to buy it then that's where the technical upgrade comes into play 1080p @ 60fps all the DLC content (usually), and a graphics upgrade.

Finally most of these remasters / HD collections are outsourced to smaller developers, which means it's not taking anything away from future PS4 exclusives, besides the $2 - $3 million dollars it takes to port it and pay the developer. Bluepoint games (lead by former Metroid Prime developers) are one of few major developers who specialize in porting games, as they did God of War Collection, Ico & Shadow Collection, Metal Gear HD Collection, PSASB Vita versions, Flower PS4/PSV, and Titanfall 360.

Again if you don't like it, don't buy it and go about your merry / trollish way.

Abizz...the complaining about remasters isnt so much about them being "remasters". its about the timing of them.

windwaker was cube title that is...several years old getting upgraded visuals for the wii-u. halo anniversary (on 360) was a remaster of a 10 year old game. the MCC is a remaster of halo 2 (for the most part) while adding in the previous halo anniversary as well as halos 3 and 4 in one nice package.

the last of us remaster is of a game that came out last year. If it was 3 or 4 years ago then by all means but to release a game and then a year later release the game again is what many are complaining about.

the whole, 'its being released for those that didnt get a PS3 argument' is rather pointless. They can get a Ps3 and not just enjoy that game but the plethora of great games for it as well.

The value of a remaster is based on its content. So thats why "collections" like ratchet and clank, jak and daxter and sly cooper were so graciously accepted. You not only got all these games in one package but upgraded as well. More bang for the buck = no complaints.

@darthv72

3 or 4 years ago obviously doesn't matter, because people are here complaining about Uncharted the last of which came out 3 years ago this November, and with the original being 7 years old by the same time.

Complaining about remasters is one of the most ignorant complaints I've seen regarding these consoles. They are GENERALLY handled by developers who have no real ties to the console manufactures, which means they're generally not taking up resources, time, and financial backing from the first party studios.

The reason people wanted Wind Waker and MCC is because they were great games, and they were coming to a new console with a fresh coat of paint. It's the same thing as TLoU, except the jump doesn't look quite as different, because it's not a completely retooled port from a console 2 generations ago.

It's another game releasing on a console, and for anyone to complain about that is just silly to me.

If you don't like it, don't buy it and go on about your merry / trollish way.

Godchild10203562d ago

The Inconsistent Harmony: 5 Examples of Ludonarrative Dissonance in Video Games

VGChartz's Issa Maki: "I finally have a proper designation akin to what I've always referred to internally as 'the line that must be crossed' or 'The Line', for short – ludonarrative dissonance – the separation from a video game's story in relation to its gameplay. Why isn't PETA all up in Mario's grill for jumping on turtles and killing fish, or charging Samus Aran with the extinction of the Metroid species? Ever notice how fire has that habit of making bosses in Resident Evil stronger? Read on my friend, for I endeavor to imbue you with the ability to engage in basic queries concerning the concept."

UNCHARTED2FANATIC903d ago (Edited 903d ago )

I cant even say what the point was its easily the worst story in the series. The online was a whole lot of fun though but overall doesn't come even close to 2

porkChop902d ago (Edited 902d ago )

It was a step back for sure. Personally, I thought even the MP was way better in U2. Solid game, glad I played it. I just think they didn't push as hard as they did with U2.

UNCHARTED2FANATIC898d ago

Yes both the online and story was better in 2 no doubt

Flewid638902d ago

The "young Drake" portion was pretty top notch, story-wise. But yeah, everything outside of that I felt was inferior.

DanielEndurance902d ago

Villains were all over the place in this… one second they wanted Drake dead, the next they needed him, then they want him dead again, then they coulda killed him, but poisoned his friend instead, then coulda shot him again, but had brunch with him, then needed him alive, then coulda mowed him down, but decided to kill him by fire and let him escape… Uncharted 2 was way better. 😅😅

slowgamer902d ago

=D Sounds crazy. I don't remember any of that. Played it on ps3 and I remember thinking that why was this game so bashed compared to second one. I liked it.

Chocoburger902d ago (Edited 902d ago )

Another thing that annoyed me about UC3 events was the agent Talbot teleporting around Turkey. It just felt off to me, and made no sense.

Also, for about one third of the game, you go on a wild goose chase to rescue Sully, who wasn't even there to be rescued, and you end up back where you started again. There was simply no pay off for all the events you go through, so it fell flat in that regard as if they couldn't figure out how to make the game longer, so they decided to side-track you to do something with no pay off, hoping you wouldn't notice due to all the incredible action set pieces they made.

Overall though, even with its flaws, I still enjoy the game.

TheEnigma313902d ago

This was actually my least favorite in the series. Didn't have that same impact that part 2 set.

Flewid638902d ago

Uncharted 2 is the pinnacle of the series (to me).

Granted, 4 had the best story in my opinion, but 2 was the overall best game.
