Assassin's Creed Unity - Unlocking a new era of gaming

MWEb GameZone writes: "According to Assassin's Creed Unity Creative Director, Alex Amancio, Unity will unlock a new era of gaming.

Here are 10 reasons why Ubisoft will deliver on that promise."

CongoKyle3558d ago

I think I watch this trailer at least twice a day! Cannot wait!

HanCilliers3558d ago

It's freaking awesome hey. dat gameplay!

bixxel3558d ago (Edited 3558d ago )

I've watched it 6 times yesterday.No joke...

HoldenZA3558d ago

Im not convinced that its 'unlocking a new era of gaming', here's to hoping that it is less repetitive and more fun than the previous AC titles.

HanCilliers3558d ago

Did you even watch that video?

HoldenZA3558d ago

I sure did. The only really big difference is the Co-op and the expected upgrade in visuals.

Maybe I am just being sceptical, but I don't see this as the revolutionary change that sparks a new era of gaming. If anything I see a title that seems restricted to its franchise, unwilling to expand with unique ideas.

Yet can I be surprised by them sticking to the same formula? No, because it is the 'safe' direction that most AAA titles go. Safe minor upgrades, but with the advertising to say the latest title in the series is remarkably different.

Don't get me wrong, I would love for it to be what it claims its going to. I'm just not going to hold my breath.

Palitera3558d ago

I WANT TO BELIEVE!

But I'm not dumb enough. =\

mrmack003558d ago

I agree - AC was revolutionary back in the day..no longer. Better graphics and the co-op looks cool, but new era?

lord zaid3558d ago

After Black Flag, I kinda developed Assassin's Creed fatigue.
I dunno if this one can bring me back.

Kurisu3558d ago

I don't have that issue! Haven't played an AC game since the first, so I'm really looking forward to get back in to the franchise!

WeAreLegion3558d ago

You missed out. ACII was incredible!

christian hour3558d ago (Edited 3558d ago )

Kurisu, if you like Pirates I recommend Black Flag, it's basically an awesome Pirate game more than anything.

WeAreLegion, AC2 was AWESOME, the two sequels not so much, it just pissed all over Patrice's baby.

christian hour3558d ago

I got the fatigue when they turned the 2nd game in to a long drawn out trilogy and fired Patrice. Black Flag brought it back for me, but only because it was "Awesome Pirate Simulator: The game!" and I didn't view it as an Assassins Creed. Probably the best Pirate game I've ever played. :D

Seems I'll be picking up Unity in October, seeing as Dragon Age got pushed back.

I've never been a fan of the series, as the mission structure quite frankly has been ridiculous in previous AC games. Not only were you forced to do the same menial tasks over and over again, but the limitations also caused a great deal of frustration and removed any sense of freedom during the story mode. Having to sneak around when none of the gameplay mechanics allow actual stealth is not fun at all. Especially when the game lacks a dedicated crouch button.

Unity looks awesome, though. Stealth seems to be in the same vein as Watch Dogs, and the setting is one of the most interesting ever. Running across the rooftops in France will probably be a fantastic experience, and I really can't wait to play it on my shiny, albeit dusty PS4.

Anyway, that's just my two cents.

HanCilliers3558d ago

The upgraded stealth for Unity does look promising, also very keen to see it in action

Jyndal3558d ago

The improved parkour looks interesting. Hope the combat system isn't as convoluted as AC3's.

HanCilliers3558d ago

Did you see that parkour event video? It's freaking amazing.

I Played Assassin’s Creed Unity Almost 10 Years Later. It’s (Kinda) Spectacular

Shaz from GL writes: "Assassin’s Creed Unity is looked at as one of the worst in Ubisoft’s iconic franchise. But playing it nearly 10 years later reveals it may just be the best"

Do the NPCs still randomly levitate every now and then? Even years later I noticed they hadn't patched that out

Honestly I loved the PS4 ACs. I'd love next gen ports of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate

Why Assassin’s Creed Unity remains one of the best games in the series

GF365: "Since the first Assassin’s Creed game, there have been entries up until now. There are more than a few titles that are far from an ideal stealth game. Let’s discuss why 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity is one of the best games in the series."

Glitchy as hell and flat story, nah this aint it. AC2, brotherhood and 4 were amazing games in every respective

Furesis515d ago

Yeah i would say brotherhood and 4 were the best for me. I have not played the new ones and Unity was my last one. Seems like i made a good choice.

DarXyde515d ago

I gave up after Revelations. Just couldn't bring myself to care anymore and I got burned out of the gameplay.

Definitely agree on 2 and Brotherhood though. Great games.

YourMommySpoils515d ago

A Ubisoft AC game that's not glitchy? That will be the day.

Knightofelemia515d ago

After constant glitches Arno being boring nah I am good I skipped Unity. I will always like the Ezio trilogy, Black Flag, Rogue, Odyssey, Syndicate. I use to love the franchise but now it feels stale and boring. But my list of favorite entries into the franchise will vary from other players favorite entries.

RaidenBlack515d ago

Odyssey is a really well-made RPG game ... but it ain't a proper AC game, even though its part of the lore

ToddlerBrain515d ago

It’s funny because, at launch, it was universally panned for being unplayable. It’s a great game that holds up today. I’m glad they fixed it.

staticall515d ago

The only good things i remember from Unity are pretty graphics and really good descending mechanics (even though it sometimes didn't make much sense, when your character can drop down from like 10 meter height onto a flagpole perfectly).

Game is glitchy to this day, i was playing in it years after the release date (with all the DLCs) and it's still broken. You had to reload missions too often for my taste (characters do not spawn, you fall through the floor, getting stuck in falling/sitting/aiming animation, hidden blade stop working, assassination target running away at the start of the mission). Story was meh, searching for all the treasures wasn't enjoyable at all. Coop was pretty much useless, i've beaten every coop mission in solo. Helix rifts were awful as well.

Not saying i hate this game or anything, but it got too many problems.

Assassin's Creed (i know it's a controversial opinion) and Assassin's Creed 2 are still great to this day.

anast515d ago

Unity was okay. I prefer Syndicate and Origins.
