i respect sony because they are for the gamers.

mikel10153564d ago

They are for the money like anyone else

InTheLab3564d ago

Everyone else have cross buy?

Neonridr3565d ago

pretty sure Disney brought a whole host of video game characters together when they did Wreck it Ralph.. but maybe they are referring to specifically "those" characters listed..

mcstorm3565d ago

Sounds interesting liked what was done with Wreck it Ralph so look forward to seeing what this is like.

Killzoner993565d ago

Sony owns Donkey Kong now? Nice!!! They should have bought Crash Bandicoot instead but I'm all for taking franchises away from Nintendo.

LightningMokey3565d ago

Im actually excited that Nintendo is handing Sony the rights to do this and that Sony is advertising characters from other companies as well. Wreck it Ralph didn't have any Sony or Microsoft exclusive characters just Nintendo, Sega, Capcom and Namco for the most part. I wonder if there will be characters from all current big 3 as well as a multitude of smaller companies or if it'll just be a few from very select companies.

Ihatetrolls763564d ago

No sony doesn't own donkey kong and they are only publishing this movie. From what I heard is the movie is based off a short film only thing sony is doing is financing film because that's where they make money. You guys act like this was all sony idea why don't you guys thank the true creators instead of sony those are the ones that deserve praise

LightningMokey3564d ago

I know they don't own the rights to Donkey Kong, but they couldn't do this without Nintendo allowing them to, they handed them the rights to do this, not the rights of everything.

Chrono3564d ago

Columbia Pictures, the fourth largest film studio in the world after Warner Bros, Disney, and Universal, is part of Sony. This reminds me, Sony's logos are the first things that appear in this Nintendo game!

You guys won't be half as excited when you see who's behind this movie. :/ I'm a bit of a Kevin James fan, but if recent releases have taught us anything, it's that this movie is going to blow. Sandler's in it, too.

Godmars2903565d ago

Sandler can be good when he ego isn't involved.

Mind you, the man's ego has been involved with near everything he does.

WeAreLegion3564d ago

That's the problem. He's a phenomenal dramatic actor. (Punch Drunk Love, Reign Over Me) He just needs to have better scripts/teams for his comedic stuff.

After looking over everyone involved with this one, there is some hope, actually. Chris Columbus is directing and Tim Herlihy is helping write.

Sad part is Kevin James is actually an alright actor, he was great in King of Queens, but he's always in Adam Sandler films which brings him down.

The best thing Sandler has been in over the years was Hotel Transylvania...an animated film, which was pretty good.

Maybe he's more suited to animated films now

WeAreLegion3564d ago

Actually, did you see his cameo in Brooklin Nine-Nine? Easily the best work he has done in years.

I do need to see Hotel Transylvania though.

And Kevin James is completely underrated as a dramatic actor. Good comedians tend to own dramatic roles. I hope he gets a shot at that stuff.

-Foxtrot3564d ago

Oh yeah I totally forgot about that, yeah he was good in that episode aswell.

It's a good film, however go into though and remember it's a film for kids, it's obviously not going to be as good as Toy Story but considering all the animated shit we get these days the film was really good. It has most of the cast Sandler hangs around...Kevin James, Andy Samberg, David Spade etc which is funny because when they are together in a normal film like grown ups the film is terrible.

The Mario vs. Donkey Kong demo just hit Nintendo Switch.

Guess I know what my kids and I are playing tonight! Looks just our speed. (They sure as heck aren’t playing Sony’s stealth-dropped free Silent Hill.)

I bought an A90J and got credits for free movies. Now Core wont recognize my log in. Hoping it’ll recognize it in PS.

hiroyukisanada202d ago

This is so dope! I'm hyped for this since they ended the PlayStation Video app where I used to buy my digital movies

blackblades202d ago (Edited 202d ago )

We been saying for years they add anime or movies to the ps+ now they are

EvertonFC202d ago

Agreed, took them long enough, I'm expecting the odd early access mucic album too in the future or a free film as part of ps plus extra/premium each month.

EvertonFC202d ago (Edited 202d ago )

That's my problem we lost our films from them, I have more confidence in buying from Amazon prime being a thing in 30 years than Sony core being a thing in 30 years ?
I'd love to start buying my films from Sony core but I'm not sure tbh.

FinalFantasyFanatic201d ago

I remember that, one of my co-workers was upset about that when it happened years ago.

shadowT202d ago

you subscribe to a gaming service to get old movies

KwietStorm_BLM202d ago

Looks like you subscribe to a gaming service for gaming services with extras thrown in at no extra cost and watch people find something to complain about on the internet. But maybe that's just me.

Stanjara202d ago

35% price increase is extra cost.

ModsDoBetter202d ago (Edited 202d ago )

Sony hinted that there was news regarding their investment in PS Plus after the backlash they got with the recent price hike. So no, its not thrown in at "No extra cost" whatever way you try and spin it, they hoisted that price high...AGAIN.

1nsomniac202d ago

Haha no extra cost! …and just like that, 35% vanishes into thin air.

Wow. There you have it. A perfect case study of how easy it is to manipulate people into saying the stupidest things.

ModsDoBetter202d ago

@1nsomniac

Exactly, they're incredible 😂 they twist and stretch facts constantly.

Just look at the comments here with the usual suspects praising this - the ability to BUY AND RENT movies (something they removed from us only recently) and a handful of old movies to stream 😂 yet they all complain about older games on GamePass.

They say this is a free addition yet only a few months ago Sony hiked prices by 35% and they're *slightly* outraged (though some diehard Blues still tried to defend it) now Sony let's you buy and rent movies with plus and they're like "wow, it's free😍😍😍 ;😍"

JackBNimble202d ago

Funny, I canceled my subscription because of the extra cost . And before they even increased the price, I was questioning whether or not extra or premium was worth it for me.

Even with the movies the answer is still a big fat no... and by the way , I only speak for myself. I really don't care how anyone else wastes their money.

KwietStorm_BLM202d ago

No extra cost **on top of your subscription** meaning whatever you pay for PS Plus, it's included with that. That part was understated. You all can't actually be serious right now.

FinalFantasyFanatic201d ago (Edited 201d ago )

They might as well give us something extra after the price increase (technically I haven't payed it since I have about 3 years of Plus essential save up for discounts/deals). I don't know if this is enough to encourage me to pay for Extra/premium though, might just stick with essential after all.

Yes, because only watchable movies are new movies

LOGICWINS202d ago

If those movies are "new" to whoevers watching them, then I don't see the issue. I enjoy watching a lot of older 80s/90s movies/tv shows. A lot better than the crap we have now tbh.

FinalFantasyFanatic201d ago

It's hard to get excited for newer movies, we're inundated with super hero and star wars movies, so it's nice when something like Barbie, Top Gun Maverick or Openheimer come along. A lot of 80s/90s movies are still solid gold though and I still enjoy re-watching them even though I've seen them dozens of times.

EvertonFC202d ago

We get great games unlike you and this is just more content on top, plus the gran turismo film is brand spanking new not old.
Plus all sub services have new and old, it's called content.

ModsDoBetter202d ago

You don't vet GT movie though?
You get the privilege of paying to rent it before it goes go Prime and other services. Hardly a justification for the ps hike.

CrimsonWing69201d ago

The way I see it is we get the gaming service benefits and they threw in an additional feature for movies.

I mean, how dare they give their subscribers more, right?

shinoff2183202d ago

Not to excited but I'm sure I'll get use out of it. So cool.

Not related to this but anyone in UK or around there. There's a movie from 95 called dead presidents. It's owned by Disney somehow lol. Any It shows on disney plus but not in america. Can anyone verify that.

ModsDoBetter202d ago

UK here - doesn't show on Disney+ app.

FinalFantasyFanatic201d ago

Disney owns almost everything, so I wouldn't be surprised if they own it (my sister recently started watching Dinosaurs on it).
