Final Fantasy Type-0 Fan Translation Takedown Is Justified

CCC Says: "It's official. Square Enix has done the expected. The people behind the unofficial, Final Fantasy Type-0 translation have been told to pull their patch. The internet is up-in-arms. You can practically hear their criticisms screaming off of the Sky's RomHacking Nest page."

My be justified, but rather odd. Given that such should have happened when was announced and well before it was released. Its out in the wild now.

WalterWJR3563d ago (Edited 3563d ago )

This is so stupid, these actions from square enix have the opposite effect. More people will pirate this game now just from reading articles like this.

Eamon3563d ago

That's the irony. It gives greater attention to the patch than before.

nidhogg3563d ago (Edited 3563d ago )

@WalterWJR not that I'm in favor of pirating but how about the people who'll never have a chance to play this game because they don't have time to play on a home console. And talk about SE beng an ARSE about it to be put on the Vita. I don't know about you but I'll be sure to upload MY copy if ever a drought of these patches happen.

P.S. I accidentally agreed on your post.

rainslacker3562d ago

Yeah, it's out, so the take down is useless now, since people that could use it probably know how to still get it.

A cease and desist letter or letter of legal intent to the translation team would have been nice on SE part, but legally SE couldn't do anything until the actual patch went live.

AllAboutGaming3563d ago

It is sad to see what has happened to the Final Fantasy franchise. I'm excited for FF15, but I'm not buying it until I've rented it first.

Qrphe3563d ago

You can always just torrent the patch

Activemessiah3563d ago

Anybody miss the old turn based FF?

Chard3563d ago

Turn based is fine, but it's not the reason I liked Final Fantasy to begin with. I like it for the journey, the story, the characters, traversing a big living world etc

HeavenlySnipes3563d ago

This^

FF never even had the best turn based gameplay from Square. Chrono Cross/Trigger were way better in that department

FF was great for the worlds, narrative and characters

Baka-akaB3563d ago

FF's turn based mechanics rarely left an imprint on my mind (mostly with 6 actually) , compared to other franchises , so yeah i agree it's not why i liked the franchise , nor it being gone the issue , should there be any with XV

trenso13562d ago

are you one of the if is not turned based it is not real final fantasy type of people

Eamon3563d ago

Patch has already been widely distributed and available anywhere.

So this article is useless.

nidhogg3563d ago

yup! so if you guys need the patch you can contact me and a million others to upload it for you. SE failed to recognize the internet and the people using it is not their own.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Review – Zero Regrets

Gary Green said: After finally getting the long-overdue platinum trophies for Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and XV, I wondered if I could manage another. Despite a few blunders, it’s a franchise worth showing off in your collection. I had to find another game with a realistically achievable platinum, which sadly rules out quite a few. Fortunately, I didn’t have far to look as I dusted off Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, which was, in fact, my very first PS4 game, and one that’s aging surprisingly well.

Type-0 Is The Darkest Final Fantasy Ever Made

DS: “I hate that Type-0 is forgotten among the Final Fantasy games. While not the strongest entry, its mature story makes it stand out from the others. And even though Final Fantasy now has three rated M games — including Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Final Fantasy XVI, — Type-0 will always have the crown of being the first, and arguably the darkest.”

i agree that it is indeed dark, but it has its issues.

and i feel like the ending is what makes it really a dark final fantasy game.

the rest is more or less war where teenagers fight.

fsfsxii316d ago

This game was the epitome of the FF dark age pretty much, was hella boring and the gameplay was tedious. I'm glad SE got the series back on track

gold_drake315d ago

well, it was more of a spin off rly.
especially after they dropped the fabula nova crystalis stuff

H9316d ago

I actually really love this game, the main problem however was that the entire story and personality of the characters, was in the lore that you need to dig very deep to find and external materials outside of the game, honestly it has my favorite lore in the franchise, I wish they had made the game more story focused, god it would have been a masterpiece

This Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Mod Runs The Game At 120 FPS

The PC port of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD had many problems, and now a new mod fixes them and lets you play at 120 FPS.

jznrpg487d ago

120fps is overrated and totally unnecessary for these types of games . 60fps is more than plenty

KrillinShine487d ago (Edited 487d ago )

That's subjective, I'll take 120fps if the hardware can handle it over 60fps if given the option. Nothing wrong with liking smoother visuals.

jznrpg487d ago (Edited 487d ago )

120fps will make most games suffer someway . If it doesn’t sure great 120fps but if it takes anything away from it I’d rather have 60fps . For online shooters I get it but for RPGs I’d rather have more detail and such and 60fps instead of losing some of that and 120fps .
I played DMC at 120fps and I couldn’t tell the difference myself besides that the graphics were worse .

KrillinShine487d ago

You're missing the point - to some people 120fps is more pleasing to the eye than sharper visuals, higher texture quality and/or AO. No harm in giving people the option for it, mod or not.

Also, you couldn't tell the difference between 60fps and 120fps? Are you sure you have a monitor that supports 120fps? It's a night and day difference to me.

CrimsonWing69487d ago

I couldn’t get into this game. I probably should give it another try.

Kurisu487d ago

I quite enjoyed the game to be honest! Sure, the story wasn't amazing. But it was good to see FF try a new direction. Was nice having so many playable characters, but it's a shame that there is little to no charcater development for any of them.

CrimsonWing69487d ago

Ye, you're not alone. I really tired, but I couldn't. The only reason I even pushed myself to play it for a while was because I'm an FF fan, but it just didn't click. The intro FMV was epic though.

jznrpg487d ago

The way it loads so much I didn’t care for but it’s not a bad game . Story is weak and if they had a good story I would love it . But with a meh story it’s decent . I like most things Final Fantasy though so I could see how some wouldn’t care for it .

CrimsonWing69487d ago

Yea, I’m in the same boat where I can like most things Final Fantasy related. I’d like to fire it up again just to get the platinum at least.

Shinox487d ago

One of the worst overhyped FF games with garbage story , people made a mistake hyping this up

Kurisu487d ago

I'm still glad that I actually got to play it. When it released exclusively in Japan on PSP I didn't think I'd ever get the chance.

jznrpg487d ago

I enjoyed it but I see the point of the story being bleh

TheColbertinator487d ago

This was originally a mobile game in development so the lack of vision became apparent as the game released on the PSP first.

Kurisu486d ago

Agito XIII, back when the Fabula Nova Crystallis games was supposedly going to be a thing.
