The 5: Male PlayStation Characters That Could Become Women

PSGamer: Thor is now a woman. In a surprise announcement yesterday (revealed on The View of all places) Marvel made the bold move to change the gender of one of their most established super-heroes and a woman will now wield Mjölnir for the first time. The announcement has split public opinion, some in favour of the gender-bending by Marvel, others upset that Marvel seem to find it difficult to let a comic series last more than 25 issues before having a reboot, but one thing is for sure – Everyone is talking about Thor.

This announcement got us thinking… What if Sony do the same? Could Sony re-invigorate some of their floundering IP’s by swapping the genre of the main character? Maybe Sony feel like evening out the video game status quo by making one of their big hitters a lady? Here are 5 male PlayStation icons that could become women.

I'm all for having more female characters in gaming, but changing established characters is just dumb.

Either a new IP or introducing a new female character is fine, but don't re-write the history of the game, that just pisses people off.

Rumor is the main character of the GG game is female

and Marvel changing a characters gender instead of introducing a new hero is another lame gimmick that will be eventually reversed like usual in American comics.

Yah, Marvel changing Thor is a lame gimmick. They did it because their attempt to do a female Thor sidekick spinoff probably didn't do too well. They made a "Thor Girl" and probably not many even know about her. They're just trying to take advantage of the huge fan base Thor already has, though this will split it pretty hard.

As for the topic at hand.. As others have said, make a new character or a new IP. You can have perfectly good female leads like Nariko from Heavenly Sword Or Bayonetta, even though she runs around wearing nothing but her hair...

I don't understand the Thor situation. Yeah it's a little weird considering Thor has always been male and based off a real mythological god who was male, but a comic is pure fiction. They don't nearly come close to even using the myths they based Thor on. Where is it written down that a new Thor or Captain America, be female? Hell they change the main characters like we change our pants. There is literally nothing wrong besides fans being hypocritical and not wanting to support something different, I'm sure it will all be explained in the story or have some reason in universe as to why the change but as for Thor, she has a very nice design and is appropriate while still looking like a fictional god.

Established characters is one thing to never change but how many versions of Thor have we had? It's clearly something that is changed quite often and there is no reason why a version can't be female.

Thor is from old Norse mythology and in the mythology, he has always been male Why not change Loki to be female, or do the same to Zeus or Hercules (Greek Mythology).

FICITION and NOT staying true to Norse Myths, they clearly have taken great liberties before and no one was up in arms so why should they be now? It just goes to prove 99% of people are afraid of change.

Now it's all about being sensitive and nice towards minorities who will only scream at you harder that you're not doing enough to change the fabric of what you are to suit them.

I don't mind playing as women when it is a natural part of the story, though I have a weak preference for playing men (as I'm sure most women do for playing as a woman).

I will simply boycott any game I feel has fallen victim to the scourge of feminism, and is forcing female characters for ideological reasons.

They're not talking about just playing a female character though, they're talking about actually changing an established characters gender. It would be more like if they changed Delsin Rowe into a female for no reason, same person, same history except now he's a girl. Or if they made Fetch a guy in First Light, just because..

What's the point? Why wouldn't you just use an actual female character?

It would be just like making a new Tombraider game, but Laura Croft was a guy. Same name, same story, but now she's a guy. It makes no sense at all. I've played as all kinds of races, genders, aliens, robots and everything else in between. If I like the game, then I like the game, but it would feel cheap and ridiculous if they just changed an established characters gender for no reason.

Really looking foward to First Light though!!
